Me, too Bizzey!
I've just been puttering: vacuumed and cleaned vacuum canister and washed filters, washed floors and put a load of laundry in. Watching The Sound of Music. Just had a snack of choc chips, walnuts and marshmallows.

mathanxiety · 08/09/2024 04:53

I've been busy all day but managed to leave the apartment looking like a bombsite. I'm hoping to get the furniture moving finished tomorrow. I will have to make a trip to the hardware store to see if I can find bolts to fit DD3's bed as I seem to have misplaced the bolts that keep the frame together.

I'm debating whether to go out to the deck and bring in a few plants as it will drop down to the 40s F tonight before we begin a warmup. Commiserations to havoc - hope the heat will ease off

DandyDandylion · 08/09/2024 09:21

What bulbs were you planting Penguinisa ? I always mean to do this and spring comes round and seeing everyone’s lovely flowers reminds me I didn’t get round to it again. Hope you have smoother time in hospital this time round.

Oooh, you live in woods MissC I have always converted the local houses surrounded by trees. I would rather have squirrels next door than people. The cookies sound delicious, a friend has just set up a hatch at her house selling coffee and homemade cookies. She’s struggling to keep up with demand at the moment.

We seem to have missed the thunder Bizzey but were kept awake by fireworks. I love watching them but always worry about the pets, especially when they pop up unexpectedly.

Our kitchen diner was painted last week so now it is dried we are trying to get everything back. The dc have a tv at one end with consoles attached and bookcases with all their school books, board games etc. It’s time to have a massive declutter as I can’t imagine them playing hungry hippos anymore.

Penguinsa · 08/09/2024 10:11

Well Dandy re bulbs from RHS I ordered along with a couple of plants, 30 daffodil bulbs and 10 tulip bulbs and some sweet pea seeds. Plants were correct as were sweet pea seeds but I seemed to get no tulip or daffodil bulbs and about 160 crocus bulbs, all labelled crocus Jeanne. So may have lots of crocus. 😂Its fine but took longer to plant that I originally planned. Think it's the start of bulb planting season. RHS are normally excellent with quality and delivering correct ones. At my old house had some most beautiful tulips from them, very tall and unusual and had been looking for those but crocus are nice too. Thank you re hospital, hoping for third time lucky. Good to have your kitchen diner repainted.

Dinner sounds lovely as ever Havoc

Getting the thunderstorm here now Bizzey and DH apparently had a similar conversation with DD about Venice though marginally more insightful. He asked what she did and got the reply walking. Then she added you can see the whole of Venice in a week. Then he asked had she been to Murano, Burano and an ice cream shop by St Marco and she said no, no and no. Reckon the two of them had their heads stuck in phones whilst walking.

DD has just gone off to work punting though does look like sun is now coming out.

Not sure if we will go out or just have a lazy day and Sunday roast.

ShoesOnFirstThenCar · 08/09/2024 10:59

Penguinsa glad you have another date, everything crossed for you that it goes ahead now. They’ve messed you around long enough. I love flowers in the garden but am absolutely clueless about that sort of thing!
Dandy lovely to have fresh new paint in the kitchen and an excellent chance to have a clear out. Ill bet DC will discover a new found love of Hungry Hippos once they see it’s about to be gotten rid of.
havoc im in awe of your lovely food as always but also how much you manage to fit into one day!

Here we had torrential rain last night, raindrops bouncing off the decking outside. DD wanted to go “in the car” and though I was trying to say no, she has DH wrapped around her little finger so out we went. Luckily we managed to find the small window when it eased off a bit. DH is working on an “about me” presentation for work as he was recently promoted. I have had to veto some of the photos of me he was going to use in it 😁.

MissConductUS · 08/09/2024 16:59

Math, it got down to the upper 40s F here last night. I put the heating on briefly when I got up for the first time since last spring. We received a propane delivery yesterday, so the tank is full for the fall.

Penguinsa, the 24th isn't as bad of a delay as I thought you'd get. Of course it was their fault your first surgical date was scuppered.

Dandy, we are indeed in the woods. You cannot see any neighboring houses from our property.

DS and his friend from university have gone to New Jersey to see a New York Giants football game. Although they moved to New Jersey years ago, they remain the New York Giants. It's confusing for us, too.

Happy Sunday lovelies 😊
It's still very hazy with wildfire smoke here. 😔
Was up around 6:45 with naby. Havoc was up soon after. Made choc chip pancakes woth sliced banana and maple syrup for brekkie. Caramel latte for me. Watching Barbie now. Laundry on.

ShoesOnFirstThenCar · 08/09/2024 18:41

Miss looks so peaceful there. We are watching the NFL here at the moment, though DH is a Steelers fan.
Just had beef stroganoff for tea, feel very full now but I’m managing to eat a choc chip cookie. Rude not to innit? 😁

Penguinsa · 09/09/2024 23:38

Thanks Shoes Weather is quite variable here too, one day is like warm and sunny then next rain all day.

I find the RHS plants site is great for gardening, you can even search for hard to kill plants and which month flower and says exactly what to do and always good quality from there. I also like being able to search for scented ones - love scented flowers and so does DS. Though its now more into bulb planting season than planting plants season. Growing up my great aunt had the most beautiful garden which I was totally in love with and a thatched cottage, now have my own but a garden does require a lot of gardening. Though its good exercise but you have to do it fairly regularly as well due to weeds etc.

Looks very pretty there MissC and the op has been brought forward another week today to 17 September (first date was 6th August then 13th). Hoping its third time lucky and goes ahead.

Pancakes sound great Havoc

Mumtobabyhavoc · 10/09/2024 02:01

Positive energy your way @Penguinsa 🩷

Deathraystare · 10/09/2024 09:07

@Penguinsa
I am crossing my fingers and toes for you. I cannot send positive or negative energy though. I have neither!!

Visited my friend yesterday (the one with dementia). Poor thig was deciding to have a sleep but had to entertain me instead! I quite fancied a sleep myself! One thing that angers me is she has carers coming in (just to dole out her medication) and a son that lives with her but does bugger all for her . The bin is supposed to be emptied on a Sunday so it gets collected on Monday and no one thinks of doing it! The irony is, the son got a pedal bin for his room. I had to bite my tongue!

Mumtobabyhavoc · 10/09/2024 15:48

Death, dementia can suck it.

Got to sleep at about 2:30am and was awake for baby at about 6:30. Yea me! 😵‍💫 Ugh. 😔
Taking a different attitude about it so far this morning, though. I just put a load of laundry on, have fed/changed both dc, cleaned my cell phone and case after it slipped from my hand onto my pb&j covered bagel, 🤦‍♀️, pulled out toy bin for dc then refereed toy sharing. 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️ Had to use my stern mummy voice to Havoc: Baby gets one block. You can have allllll the rest. Do you understand? 😲 Havoc has moved on from blocks 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️ Why is something only interesting when someone else wants it????

bizzey · 10/09/2024 21:53

Extra 8 legs for the football tonight!

Enlarge at your peril 😂😁😁😁😀

Come and tell me your dull and unexciting news 31: Calmly through the day
bizzey · 10/09/2024 21:54

Yes ...that is my TV screen !

Mumtobabyhavoc · 11/09/2024 00:10

Yikes, Bizzey! 😬

mathanxiety · 11/09/2024 04:33

One of the many bad things about that spider, bizzey is you can't exactly wallop it with a snow shovel when it's sitting on the TV screen like that.

I found another mouse in a trap today. I had set this trap under the stove top and forgotten about it. The exterminator comes tomorrow and the LL has asked if I can let him in since I'll be WFH, luckily.

I was awoken from sleep last night around 3am with a cough, and I believe I have the wildfire smoke that has been giving us very dramatic sunrises and sunsets these last few days to thank for that, though there's also a lot of dust in the air. I had to get up and find my inhaler, which is now under my pillow in case I need it tonight.

Roadwork continues all over town, with lots of men in hi viz, orange barrels blocking lanes, and dust everywhere. I was toying with the idea of a carwash but I think I'll just let the rain rinse the car off for now.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 11/09/2024 10:57

Math, well, she could... 😂

bizzey · 11/09/2024 14:14

Noooo not my TV ..." my presssiousss " as she clutches it to her chest .😂😂....

Luckily ...I don't mind spiders 🕷️🕷️..

Ds2 on the other hand has a complete " thing " about them ..because they move so fast !

We have had some whoppers over the past few weeks .

Deathraystare · 11/09/2024 18:01

@Mumtobabyhavoc
Is that the recent Barbie film or another one? I loved it! "Just Ken" keeps going around and around in my head.

@bizzey
Eek! Mind you I am obsessed with the teeny tiny jumping spiders on you tube. They re gorgeous!

@Penguinsa
Fond memories of when I had a garden (a kind of' handkerchief hem'). Loads of plants in a really small space- Hollyhocks, winter and summer jasmine, some veg and some everlasting sweet peas!

MissConductUS · 11/09/2024 19:24

bizzey, I was genuinely confused as to why a spider would be in the picture for a football game. It's quite a big one.

Living in Sherwood Forrest as we do, we are besieged by insects nine months out of the year. This has proved invaluable:

The Executioner

It's designed for flying insects but would work on spiders as well. I generally ignore spiders in the house, as they trap and kill the flying insects that I don't like.

Math, we had terrible wildfire smoke last summer from the Canadian fires, but nothing so far this summer. DD is likely to get hit by the remnants of Hurricane Francine as it moves up the center of the country. It will probably give you a lot of rain, which will help a bit with the smoke.

Not much new to report here. DD is planning on come home to spend Thanksgiving with us, which is lovely. I've redecorated her room, so with the new queen sized bed, she's all set to return with dear SiL.

DS's on boarding process for his new job is going very slowly. The government department that hired him is bringing a lot of new people on board, so the process is backlogged. That's fine. He's enjoying the late summer leisure.

We had the most enormous spider on the wall the other night. I think it was the biggest one I’ve ever seen. I did the plastic-cup-and-piece-of-paper trick on it and chucked it out of the front door to take its chances in the big wide world.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 11/09/2024 21:10

Death, yes, the recent Barbie movie. 👍

Lemonsandlemonade · 11/09/2024 21:32

Sorry trying to catch up.

My work is manic and I'm feeling fed up and know I can't keep the pace up that is expected of me.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 11/09/2024 21:33

Hilda, that's the catch and release program I use, too.

ShoesOnFirstThenCar · 11/09/2024 21:44

Miss we are proud owners of “The Executioner”, used for flies and DH likes to pretend he’s at Wimbledon 🙄. Spiders are ignored here too for the most part.
