Ohhh ....so I was correct in my 1.3 and my 1.7 approx conversation !

Mumtobabyhavoc · 30/08/2024 03:42

Crab and pesto pizza for dinner... baby tasted some crab. Let's see if Havoc eats a piece. 🤔

Mumtobabyhavoc · 30/08/2024 03:47

And the pic...

bizzey · 30/08/2024 03:51

Mumtobabyhavoc · 30/08/2024 04:43

That was absolutely despicable. Why oh why have we not made things better for the disabled??? I am always travelling with too many bags, not all stations have lifts etc and I have trouble on stairs but how the wheelchair bound cope I do not know. I remember a wheelchair user being told she should get a taxi (the buses ramp system took ages to work properly). Not the driver but a right bitch!

Mumtobabyhavoc · 30/08/2024 14:02

Good morning, everyone. 😀
Sun isn't quite up yet. Got up with baby around 3:45am and have been up since. Baby was fully awake and wanting to play. Havoc woke up not long after. I finally gave up trying to get them back to sleep. So, have given Havoc some breakfast, baby is crawling around holding a sock and showing it to me and smiling. Kids' show on tv. I've got a bagel with pb&j and a cinnamon latte. It's just 13c and is starting to feel like fall.

Ohdearyme72 · 30/08/2024 16:07

My weedsmoking twatty twat of a neighbour and his stupid barking dog moved out and strangely it feels like someone has died.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 30/08/2024 17:00

Death, Dandy, couldn't agree more with the lack of support for the disabled. 😡

I think Havoc is crashing as had tantrum over god knows what and a freak out when baby approached Havoc's toys. Have plopped Havoc in stroller with milk and parked in front of tv with a 1970's episode of Sesame Street on YT. Both had poo diapers and I was changing them simultabeously in the bathroom. Baby started crawling away peeing in the hall. Then stopped in the pool of it like, Uh-now what. Diapered both, fresh clothes on baby, who is wide awake...
Sun is out now! I'm on latte #2. ☀️😎☕️
Re the old Sesame Street...wow, so different. Lots of "groovy" music and dancing, skits...I think it's a lot better for toddlers, actually. The current ones are all pretty much the same each day. It must be $$$.

DandyDandylion · 30/08/2024 17:59

My advice, Havoc is to let your older one have places or times when the younger one can’t bother her. I think I used to put toys on the dining table when my younger one started crawling. We would love to think our dc will always get along and be happy to share but how would we feel if someone suddenly appeared in our house using all our stuff. I also started letting my older one keep precious toys in his room upstairs.

@Ohdearyme72 I think you are emerging from an abusive relationship, you were in against your permission! Hope your next neighbours are nicer.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 30/08/2024 18:41

Thanks, Dandy. 🩷

HelenaJustina · 30/08/2024 18:51

@Mumtobabyhavoc it was 8degrees Celsius when I took DC2 to swimming at 5:45am, and still that temp on our back at 7:15. Definitely an autumnal nip!

Mumtobabyhavoc · 30/08/2024 18:54

Helena, yes, chilly 12c overnight here and quite warm in the day. Fall is here!!!!! I am not too strangely excited... former skier/snowboarder.

MissConductUS · 31/08/2024 00:28

Welcome, @Ohdearyme72, and apologies for not welcoming you properly after your first post. Let's hope you don't get another weed-smoking twatty neighbor.

It's been unseasonably cool here too. I took a day of leave today and Monday is a holiday, so it's the start of a four day weekend for me.

My own rather dull news is that DS has been offered a job and accepted it. He'll get a final offer after his background check is completed. He'll be working for the IRS (the American version of Inland Revenue/HMRC) in Boston. It's a Federal Civil Service position, which is good. The pay is probably a bit less than he'd make in the corporate world, but the benefits and job protections more than make up for it.

He's happy about it. He went to university in Boston, and he loves the area. We have lots of family up there as well. Some of his university friends are still up there, and it's a great city for young people. It would be nice if he was a little closer, but a four-hour drive isn't that bad. He'll probably start sometime in October, and DH and I will take a few days off to help him move there and get settled.

It's been lovely having him home for the last few years. can't believe we're going to be empty nesters again.

Well done to your DS MissC.

Havoc it does feel like Autumn/Fall here. The big tree by the house has started to get a red/orange tinge here.

DandyDandylion · 31/08/2024 07:31

Well done to DS of MissC, I agree that salary is not everything, other benefits and protections can add up. Plus he can always move into industry in the future if he decides that is more his thing. Whether people are happy as civil servants here, seems to totally depend on the work politics they encounter.
I agree autumn is on the way, I actually prefer the cooler nights for sleeping. We have our oil tank topped up next week and the boiler was serviced in spring so we are all set.

MissConductUS · 31/08/2024 09:51

It was quite cool overnight here as well. So we had the windows open, and the bloody coyotes howling woke me up at 3:00 AM, and I wasn't able to go back to sleep. The cats looked at me like I was a bit daft to be up so early, but they still took some food off me.

I've been up paying bills and wasting time on MN and Reddit. Now, I'm going to lift weights and ride the stationary bike for a bit while everyone else is asleep. I've been watching Star Trek: Strange New Worlds while I exercise.

I'm happy for DS that his job hunt is over. I know he's been looking forward to getting out on his own for a while. He feels like no woman his age would want to date him while he was living with his parents. Surely there must be some his age who still live with their parents, but I can see how it's a bit of a wet blanket. But we will miss having him home.

How exciting for your DS Miss!
My mouth is watering at the look of that pizza Havoc!
That is very interesting re the thatch Penguinsa, I have often wondered about it and you have supplied some answers. My parents have just left after their first visit since Dad was so ill. They said they had a great time - we had a lovely seaside day out yesterday.
I have sorted the drawer of doom out and thrown out any boxless lids and lidless boxes. I feel very satisfied.
Off to watch DS play rugby again now. It is beautiful weather but definitely an autumnal feel.

Thanks, Sprouts. I think he is excited and relieved, but probably a bit scared, too. I keep think of the the poem by Kahlil Gibran, On Children.

Since I was up for the sunrise, I thought I'd get a picture of the deck in the soft light. My zinnias have about had it for the season. If you look carefully, you'll see a lion lurking in picture.

Congrats on your DSs new job MissC.

Lovely photos Sprouts Glad your Dad is well enough to visit again.

Lovely pizza Havoc

Enjoy Venice Bizzey

The boiler man came again yesterday to fit the 1 plug he thought before was all that was now needed but turns out another part is also needed so he's ordered that and hopefully back on Monday and hopefully will work again.

The surgeons are both back in next week so hopefully will get another date for surgery. Will do more gardening with DH soon, he's having a nap first.

DS is cooking hot dogs. DD has got some things from Dunelm for starting at Oxford but more to get.

Floof is very chatty, he loves to answer to Papa and rushes over if someone says Papa trilling away so we have named him Papa Floof.

Deathraystare · 31/08/2024 15:42

@Mumtobabyhavoc
Oh I loved, loved, loved Sesame Street. I wish it was still on, over here. I loved the countdown song!

@MissConductUS

Lovely photo and yes, I spotted your majestic beast!

@Penguinsa
Fingers crossed for surgery date!

@sproutsandparsnips
Your drawer of doom made me laugh! I only live i one room but have a few drawers of doom. Everytime I look for a AAA batterries, all I find is AA and vice versa.

I was about to wander into the local mall (Westfield) but all the railway arches I normally go through were blocked off and I found myself wandering around a load of flats. It was very earie with security standing outside, hardly anyone around and took me ages to get out of there. I seem to need help more when going anywhere. I either get the wrong tube/bus or somehow get lost in an otherwise well known place.

Being short on clean clothes (have to fetch a trolley from the launderette, plus wash some more clothes tomorrow), I found a rather nice black broderie anglaise midi dress at the back of the wardrobe (M & S). That is good because I am attending a funeral in a few weeks time and was wondering what to wear.

Looked at my NHS pension online and am depressed to find out it is half what it would have been if I had not changed over but I think now everyone has to go by the newer one now. My round the world cruise is obviously not happening now!!

Mumtobabyhavoc · 31/08/2024 15:55

Penguinsa, Papa Floof is beyond cute! Love it!
Hoping you get answer and promises.
Miss, I never think it odd when adult children live at home because it's so expensive here and it's very multicultural with a lot of different family "norms."
Sprouts, glad you dad is doing better and your parents had a nice visit. Lovely pics. Which body of water?

Up with baby nursing, Havoc now up. Have got Havoc watching cartoons and I'm going to try and steal another hour of sleep. Had another trip to Fun Box yesterday. Loved it! It closes on Monday til next year (if it returns?). It was about 28c yesterday and 16c now, but air is damp and it feels cool. I love it, though. Laundry hung on the deck last night will take ages to dry...
Made brownies last night after dinner and added white and dark choc chips, mini m&m's and mini marshmallows. 😋😋😋 Pretty much have all I need for Havoc's birthday. Just need to review pics from tbe last year 😳 for photo wall. I have been doing the one pic for each month thing, but for baby's 6 months I did 3-4 pics for each month and I liked it better. I just got the pics printed as normal 4x6 photos and grouped them on coloured 81/2x11 printer paper and arranged in a couple rows on the wall. Haven't taken it down yet as I like it so much! 🫣

Mumtobabyhavoc · 31/08/2024 16:17

Death, go to YouTube. You'll find episodes back to the beginning. ie search Sesame Street 1970's 😊

bizzey · 31/08/2024 16:19

I have bought my first Christmas presents !

Sounds early I know...but I always try to buy some things a month over the year to make it more cost effective.

The boys have got a tube of facial moisturiser each ! 🤣..

On specials at 3 for 2 !

They don't go in for fancy toiletries...usually the cheapest on offer in the supermarket for deodorant /shower gel.....

But they always seem to rely on me buying them face moisturizer for Christmas !
