Here are Pebble (Mottled one, only one eye) and Pumpkin (more ginger).

These are the two cats of My Brother and SIL.

Thanks very much to Marz for sending them for me (didn't have a clue!)

Mumtobabyhavoc · 19/11/2024 15:29

@Kpo58 that's bizarre. What was the explanation given for the bus's odd route? Was the driver on glue? 😄

None was given. I know that there was traffic at the area where they decided to go around again, due to a pedestrian crossing being replaced, but even so...

DucklingSwimmingInstructress · 19/11/2024 15:56

Oh dear. The cold weather made the ducks invade.

Come and tell me your dull and unexciting news 31: Calmly through the day
Mumtobabyhavoc · 19/11/2024 16:37

@Kpo58 how frustrating, to say the least. I think bus services forget people actually rely on them.
@DucklingSwimmingInstructress what kind of dicks are those? I didn't realize you actually had ducks!
@Deathraystare - you loaded pics! 👏

Mumtobabyhavoc · 19/11/2024 17:21

Too late to edit my last post. Ducks, ladies. Ducks. 🤦‍♀️

DandyDandylion · 19/11/2024 17:27

I suspect it would be very difficult to teach dicks to swim.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 19/11/2024 17:31

They can float, though, can't they?
😂😂😂

MissConductUS · 19/11/2024 17:33

Welcome, @Kpo58, and thanks for sharing your transportation difficulties and weather-related news. Whereabouts in the world are you posting from? This thread is surprisingly international.

I was wondering if you were going to catch that. 😁

No snow here in New York. DH had to go to the town hall yesterday and sign some forms for the building permit to redo the kitchen. We probably could have done the project without them, as we have no neighbors to report the work, but they get really cross about it if they find out that you've done a remodel without the permits (and paying the fee, of course).

Miss, just watching (guilty pleasure) Live with Kelly and Mark. They seem like such a fun couple. Apparently snow might come your way this weekend. Yes, permits and fees.

We have lovely snow about halfway down the mountain that I can see. Taking dc for vaccinations shortly. The snow down here didn't stick, thankfully, since I need to go out with the dc.

My phone is awful for typos and dropped letters, especially n. Don't know if phone is glitchy or because it has been dropped.

Kpo58 · 19/11/2024 18:18

@MissConductUS I'm about halfway between London and the South Coast.

Last week was very exciting seeing a low plane in the sky. Flight Radar said that it was going between Heathrow and Gatwick. I didn't know that they did short flights like that. I wonder if it's the plane equivalent of not in service buses going where they are needed.

Penguinsa · 19/11/2024 18:19

Lovely picture Dandy Also inside with the cat here under a fleece duvet, rowing at 6am in the snow is very brave.

Lovely cats Death and well done on getting pics uploaded.

Lovely ducks Duckling

😂Havoc

Good to have forms done MissC

DH has just gone to collect 3 parcels, had sausage sandwich for lunch. Floof is very keen on the heater and has been next to it most of the day including putting his bum right up to it. He's been asking for jingle bells again.

DucklingSwimmingInstructress · 19/11/2024 20:17

You did make me giggle, @Mumtobabyhavoc !

These are Muscovy ducks, though given the aggression Russia's shown I call them Kyiv ducks now (Muscovy being the old name for Russia). We had Pekins too but the girls are far from quiet - you can't hear yourself talk if they're in the mood to QUACK QUACK QUACK QUACK - and it was causing trouble with the neighbours. So now they are in a lovely convent garden literally 3 minutes walk away and we throw mixed cabbage leaves, melon (very spoiled, they are) and dried mealworms over the fence. Miss them terribly, but they're very happy and since lots of other people throw food over the fence too, they are very very very fat.

DucklingSwimmingInstructress · 19/11/2024 20:18

hello @Kpo58 I'm more or less new too =) (slightly less than more)

Mumtobabyhavoc · 20/11/2024 02:51

Another trip with dc to the aquarium today. Was fairly quiet. Took a few pics to show here.

And... poor Havoc has a sore arm from vaccination today. Is inconsolable atm. Gave Tylenol and Advil and have put Paw Patrol on tv.

Deathraystare · 20/11/2024 08:13

@Penguinsa

@Mumtobabyhavoc

Nope I cannot claim any credit for uploading. I just flapped my hands in a helpless female way and oooh and ahhed while Marz the technical wizard (disguised as a porter) did the clever stuff!

Sorry to hear about Havoc's hurty arm. I would need more than drugs and paw patrol!! Loved the aquarium pictures and the t shirts. I would love an eating Bob one!

@DucklingSwimmingInstructress
Lovely ducks!!

@Penguinsa
That makes me smile that the Floofster loves Jingle Bells!

@Kpo58
How disgusting!

I moan sometimes at the service I get..in London!

I wait at a big sainsburys and you can see buses come around the corner and sometimes my bus goes around the roundabout and goes back. I suspect that is when the bus is late but still annoying. They park up opposite the shop and have a rest. Sometimes there are 5 buses! All the other buses just go past and stop at the shop so I see loads of other buses coming and going. Then when my bus comes around it waits until another bus goes in front and I have to work out whether it is going to stop or go right past!

Mumtobabyhavoc · 20/11/2024 22:03

Both dc running a fever now. Baby 39.1c; Havoc 39.9c. Tylenol for baby and Tylenol + Advil for Havoc. Neither responded to previous vaccines like this before. 😔

Mumtobabyhavoc · 20/11/2024 22:05

But, have put a snack plate together and trying to entice Havoc to nibble. Just me so far, though.

Umanresources · 20/11/2024 23:46

Havoc and Dandy thank you I’m still feeling a bit under the weather at the moment. My headache comes and goes. I’m trying to fill in a 32 page form to claim a disability allowance and it’s getting to me. I hate the label, but have to accept that it’s just a name. I’m struggling with my mobility at the moment, more than ever and I’d hate to think that this is going to be my life forever. I’m waiting for hip replacements but it’s been four years now.

I need to finish my form filling tomorrow and then get on with my art course that my family bought for me. I’ve managed to complete one watercolour painting so far.

Havoc when my brother and I were teenagers on holiday with my mum we used to choose where to eat at night. He liked really plain foods, so we would go to a cafe, but I loved the more refined food, so we would go to a restaurant. One evening I said to my mum that I really fancied some dickling! I never lived it down and it was mentioned quite often ☺️

Mumtobabyhavoc · 21/11/2024 04:22

Uman, that would do anyone's head in. Just try a couple pages at a time. 💐

Just making dinner. Side of veg with your side of veg?
Obv I'm on a green veg kick: sautéed baby kale and broccolini; oven roasted asparagus. Serving with penne in cream with grape tomatoes.

DucklingSwimmingInstructress · 21/11/2024 06:56

@Umanresources when I had to fill those awful forms in, I went to a disability organisation for help - knowing the tips and tricks for filling them in is absolutely essential. They look for any reason going to turn you down, it's really not about what you need or are entitled to, and the organisations know how the DWP work and how they score the forms. Plus it means there's someone to do it with, which helps.

ShoesOnFirstThenCar · 21/11/2024 09:09

@Umanresources those forms are soul destroying. As my condition is permanent I don’t have to fill them in so often, however DD just turned 16 last year and therefore moved to the adult benefit. Took me ages (I did it all in rough so I could keep adding to it), but remember to put things as they are on your absolute worst day. Don’t leave any room for them to say “oh well if you can do this better on one day then that’s what we’ll take as the norm”. 💐 the end is in sight now.
And take no notice of ‘labels’, if it means you get the support you need and deserve then embrace it! 😁

MissConductUS · 21/11/2024 16:46

Uman, four years waiting for hip replacement surgery is unconscionable. I guess the stories you hear about NHS waiting times are true. If it were simply a capacity issue, they could send you to France or New York to have them done on the NHS's dime, so it must be down to budget.

We are finally getting some rain here. It's been about two months of no rain and we're 9 inches under normal rainfall at this point. There have been brush fires all over our area, made worse by all of the dry leaves on the ground. We'll get about an inch or rain today, which won't dent the drought, but will put an end to the brush fire risk for a while.

DD now has two job offers, one from the federal government and another from a big tech company. She's leaning towards the government job, which I think is wise. They are both fully remote. The only risk for the government job is that Trump talks about eliminating many government jobs. I think he'll find that it's not easy to do legally or politically.

The posh chocolate turkeys I ordered for Thanksgiving arrived last night. I can't believe Thanksgiving is next week!

@DucklingSwimmingInstructress
@Umanresources

Absolutely what Umanresources says. Is it PIP?

My friend had to fil it in and her son (my Godson) advised her not to put that she could occasionally do stuff. Overplay as much as possible. My friend even told them that I had to prep her meals and help her dress!

Okay you must be careful if you sometimes go bowling or swimming or whatever (they sometimes send out spies - or perhaps that is if you claim insurance? It might be....).
