@MissConductUS lovely turkey pics. Good to see them 'free range'.

@Penguinsa Sounds like you ae getting better! How nice to have an observant husband!!!

@Mumtobabyhavoc Your life seems to resolve around cake! (Jealous!)

Well, I actually got to Portsmouth this Saturday for shopping in the outlet. We had a good time though most of the shops weren't for us (sports shops and designer stuff). You really need to know the prices before you go.

In M&S I got a pair of jeans (about £10 off), a new t shirt cos I spilled coffee on myself! A beanie hat, gloves and scarf. Also went to Skechers where I got those slip ons from £70 odd to £30 odd. Bargain! My friend also got a coat for her mum £25 from M&S - one of those lightweight puffy things. SHe also got loads of M&S Aloe hand wash for £5 each. I gave her a fiver for one but she did not take it! Mind you I bought the drinks! We went in Cadburys and saw how tiny the selection boxes were!

I would go back.

@Math glad the wedding was good.!

Mumtobabyhavoc · 30/09/2024 17:57

Death, sounds like a fun day! 🤗 How do you like the slip ons? I see the commercial on tv all the time and I think I'd like them for when I've got baby in the carrier and I forget to put my shoes on first. LOL cuz then I have to decide to carefully to crouch onto the floor to sit and put shoes on, which involves stretching around baby, or take baby out, put on shoes and get baby back into carrier which is a longer process; or for the many times a week I'm all set to go out with dc only to forget something after we're practically in the car and I have to go back inside (and I hate shoes inside), so have to choose as above or walk in with shoes and curse having to wipe the floor later.

DandyDandylion · 30/09/2024 21:56

I wore slip on sketchers Havoc when my dc were small. Whenever I tried to take the time to tie shoelaces one or other child would run off or start screaming.
Need to get out real life shopping Death, I love the M&S jeans and we have a decent outlet shopping village locally so always bargains to be had.
We were in a yellow weather warning for rain today and boy did it rain. All the usual roads were flooded and I seemed to spend the day having to drive here or there through massive puddles. Then I watched the news and saw the impact of Helene, we got off lightly.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 30/09/2024 23:35

Good to know, Dandy! Awful about the hurricane in the States. Apparently, due to climate change, more frequent and intense weather is to be expected there with ocean on either side. It's frightening. Awful flooding in UK as well.

I roasted a hubbard squash and blended with chicken stock amd coconut milk for soup. Seasoned with ginger, onion, Chinese 5 spice and salt. Decided on pesto, crab, feta, arugula, and mixed cheese pizza to go with, which is about to come out of the oven. Sipping remaining chicken broth with miso stirred in. Have done 3 loads laundry. DC are napping. It's quiet right now!!! And i'm feelingg rather pleased...🤗🤫

Mumtobabyhavoc · 30/09/2024 23:39

It's ready! Pop by if you're in the neighbourhood! ☺️

Havoc has just woken and announced: I'm awake now, Mummy and we need to get cookies. We need to go to the store and get cookies.

Please tell me it was only me who miss read HAvoc's post ...as a
" Roasted a husband squash ! "
😂

Penguinsa · 01/10/2024 06:26

Ohdear How lovely to plant lavender. I also love lavender and have a lot in our garden.

Thanks MissC Meal sounds lovely. I think almost all universities here just have gowns for graduation but Oxford and Cambridge use gowns a lot, it was daily at Cambridge and think Oxford is still similar. We wore them to dinner each night which was by candlelight some nights. DD has a dinner needing a gown on 2nd night.

Portsmouth sounds fun Death

Lovely pancakes as ever Havoc

Lovely pictures Lemons

Glad wedding was good Math

Did have roast lamb Sunday lunch on Sunday. Monday had first check up at hospital and they changed original bandages for lighter ones, saw my stomach for first time and was very happy with it, healing well and flat stomach, one scar but straight and they were happy with everything and said it's as good as it ever gets. The female surgeon did say when coming round from the operation I spoke to her as if she was my cat which she seemed very happy about and said they had all found it very amusing. I explained I have a giant beautiful cat who likes to stand on his back paws around a metre high and poke me with his big fluffy paw. She seemed like someone who really loves cats. Next appointment should gave been 7th but that's the date DD goes to Oxford so it's on 8th. I still have to take it very easy they said for next 4 weeks to stop wound getting infected, opening. And no swimming to 12 weeks, binder to 12 weeks, support pants for a year but those have multiple of so washable.

Deathraystare · 01/10/2024 13:13

@Mumtobabyhavoc

Love the slip ons! Your foot easily slips into them. No effort at all. I have some others skechers with laces but I tend to just put my feet in (without un-tieing if you see what I mean!) and it takes me ages to get my feet in properly so these slip ons are a Godsend! Half the price too at the Portsmouth outlet place! If only it would stop raining!!!

@Penguinsa

Lovely to hear your news and I did laugh at you talking to a surgeon like she is your Floof! When you think how some people speak to doctors!

@DandyDandylion OoooH where is your outlet?

I also did a bit of shopping in Sainsbury's yesterday. Only went in for a sim card. Came out with two jumpers, a cardi and a set of three bras!!

@bizzey No I did the husband squash thing too!
Well when they annoy you, you should be able to roast them.....

Mumtobabyhavoc · 01/10/2024 19:48

Death, thanks for the info re the shoes! They might be my next pair.

So. Managed about 7 hours sleep!!!! 🥳 Baby was up once and that was it. 🤷‍♀️
Got up and put laundry on, got breakfast and Havoc to school. Am now back and made an omlette, have had a latte and a brownie. (And I might have another and top up my coffee!). I made brownies after dinner last night and added dark choc chips, walnuts, pecans and mini marshmallows. The marshmallows melts when baki g m, so it's now like caramel. 😋😋😋
Honestly, might be the best batch ever!!!

Mumtobabyhavoc · 01/10/2024 19:56

Looks a mess, but I promise delicious!!!!😋😋😋

Lots of my friends have been dropping off dc at university and telling tails of freshers week which takes me back. My DH went to Oxford and of course they have shorter terms so not back yet. Well done to you dd getting a place there Penguinsa I have fond memories of visiting. Much bigger town than Cambridge and lovely meadows and park down to river.

We are nearish to Cheshire Oaks outlet Death. It’s a weird mix of designer shops and posh people and places like M&S with the more down to earth locals.

7 hours sleep Havoc, when they get older you forget how rare and fantastic it was when you first started getting a decent nights sleep. I remember a friend at the time saying the days are long but the years go fast and it is so true.

Deathraystare · 02/10/2024 15:30

Thanks @DandyDandylion sounds like a place to visit.

@Mumtobabyhavoc you don't realise how safe your brownies are. I hate them!!!

Re the slip on Skechers - I told my colleague that I would not wear them until the rain stopped. Ok she said you can wear them next May! She leaves work in November so I said I would ring her when I am wearing them!!

MissConductUS · 02/10/2024 18:44

penguinsa, it sounds like you're healing up well and getting really good post-op care. People say all sorts of odd things when coming out of GA. I'm sure they've heard much odder things.

Havoc, your brownies look fab. I haven't made them in ages. I did make some oatmeal chocolate chip cookies recently.

Now that the cold weather is coming, I'll have to plug in the electric cat bed. He's waiting for it to warm up. That's Mr Bear, Kevin the penguin and Yuki keeping him company.

That is one cute kitty Miss what breed is he? He’s got his pet human well trained with all those toys and lovely bed.

Boring news of the day is that the whole swimming pool had 6 people in today including me. Never seen it so quiet, I was splashing about doing strokes I don’t normally do including back stroke to my hearts content.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 02/10/2024 21:18

coming round from the operation I spoke to her as if she was my cat

Penguinsa, don't know how I missed that! 😹

DandyDandylion · 02/10/2024 21:38

I love the fact the doctor recognised that was what you were doing *Penguinsa”, I wonder if you told her what a good Floof she was 🤣

bizzey · 02/10/2024 22:48

Hospital appointment with mam today for cataract situation /operation.....

I seem to have come home with the last 4 of the Portuguese tarts on display 😂😂.
Yum yum 🤣

Umanresources · 02/10/2024 23:16

Ooh @bizzey I love Portuguese tarts. Family in Lisbon always bring us some back and the first time we went there, we were taken to the bakery where they originated in Belem. When we go over there, we have morning coffee and tarts in the market in Cascais.

We also live near(ish) to Cheshire Oaks, Dandy, but it’s been quite a while since we’ve been.

We had someone else round to give us a quote for the bathroom, Havoc, this one was double the last £12,300. Not sure that we will be going with that one.

We’ve still got another two people coming.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 03/10/2024 04:06

Uman, interesting that there is such a gap between quotes!

Deathraystare · 03/10/2024 14:08

@MissConductUS

What a cute cat!

If I had a brain I would be quite dangerous. Luckily I haven't. I Went to use a multi-charger which has some 'flat head plugs" and some cylindrical ones too if you know what I mean. There were only three cylindrical ones on the multi thingy so I look for a suitable charger online. I was moaning to my line manager that the ones showed were not suitable as not cylindrical when she turned the phone around and showed the 'slot' that the flat head charger plugs go in........ I wasn't always this stupid, honest!!! Obvs the 'hole' slot was for headphones!! It is a basic model (not swipe) but obvs not basic enough for basic little me!!!

Deathraystare · 03/10/2024 14:09

@bizzey

Hope the appointment went well!

MissConductUS · 03/10/2024 19:11

Dandy, he's just a bog standard mixed breed from the local rescue. We adopted him and his sister, Autumn, together. Autumn, a lovely calico and very sweet girl, passed away a few years ago at age eight from a heart issue. As you can see from the pictures, they were inseparable.

Not much new here. DS is still waiting to be onboarded for his government job. I think he's a bit bored, but having some time off without the pressure of finding a job is nice. Knowing how the Federal government works, it could be a few months before things are finalized. He and our daughter have received their inheritances from my MIL's estate and are discussing investment strategies with DH. Not that they need much help, DH has been teaching them about it for years and they've both done a lot of research on their own. I'm very happy that they have a bit of economic security.

The leaves are just starting to change color and come down. I love the fall weather.

@MissConductUS (glaring) nothing bog standard about that cat. He is beautiful!

DandyDandylion · 03/10/2024 20:07

Bog standard cats are often the most beautiful, mine are rescues.

I hate the getting quotes stage Uman it’s hard to know if the cheaper ones will be up to standard. Easier if someone local can recommend someone they have been happy with. A family member had a ridiculously expensive bathroom fitted which looked fantastic to be fair. Then when we had cold weather it turned out the fitter had used a cheap plastic pipe to go outside, it cracked and caused damage to other rooms. Complete minefield.

Good that your dc have a nest egg and are learning early how to look after it Miss. Mine are fortunate to have enough set by from grandparents to pay a house deposit when the time comes.

I have had my Covid booster today, it may be coincidence but I feel exhausted. Luckily i will be able to have a lazy day tomorrow if needs be. The cats are always willing companions in this.

MissConductUS · 04/10/2024 20:29

Dandy, I felt a bit worn out after my recent covid jab too. It's a sign that your immune system is reacting, so it's all good.

This morning, we had fog worthy of the Big Smoke. It made driving over the mountain tricky, but it also looked lovely on the reservoir. The water level is still greatly reduced due to the construction that's going on nearby.
