penguins, here blood tests for a pre-surgical exam are considered current if done within 60 days of the surgery. The NHS may have a different standard. The civil service here also allows for transfers between government agencies and departments with no loss of seniority or benefits. No one gets rich working for the government, but it's a very solid career.

lemons, I'm glad your son is doing better. O2 of 96 isn't terrible. 97 is the low end of normal. Did the nurse repeat the reading?

It's a lovely late summer day here, so I walked around the reservoir at lunchtime, but there was nothing worth photographing.

Thanks MissC Bloods have come in now apart from one but that was the one they said they needed, it's blood type and antibodies and they have one from 17th July, negative on antibodies. Hopefully it will still come in or they can go ahead anyway. It's scheduled for 7am tomorrow. Last time it was cancelled at 8.03am that day.

DH has picked up Sainsburys click and collect and now gone to his piano lesson. I had some crayfish and 2 jam doughnuts.

Forgot to say Bizzey yes DS has been transferred to keyworker nhs service, not doing anything at the moment but they will start later. DS does not like these people so not sure if it will help or hinder but at least it's official. We just got UC and LWRCA through for him as well as PIP so at least we have money coming in to pay for things.

DD is baking brownies and cookies and off to see her boyfriend at Bristol University on Wednesday to Friday.

Thanks Lemons

HildaTablet · 16/09/2024 19:23

Keeping everything crossed for you @Penguinsa 🩷

Ohdearyme72 · 16/09/2024 19:35

I won 2 games of Wordfeud in a row!

Mumtobabyhavoc · 16/09/2024 21:25

Glad to know ds has turned the corner, Lemons.
Thanks for the good wishes re my mum everyone.🩷 Surgeon phoned at 10:45am. It was the same one who did my mum's mastectomy 5 yrs years ago and also provided hospital care/consult on another med issue subsequently, so we're very comfortable about tomorrow. Check-in at 7:30am, so feeling ugh about getting dc up and out early, but...needs must.
Havoc has come down with a cold, I'm feeling a bit rough and likely baby and my mum will be same soon, so just hoping my mum is good for next 24hrs...

Have enjoyed the cute words in recent posts: "dunkers" and "afters". 🤗 So appropriate!

One more sleep, Penguinsa. Hoping you'll get some sleep tonight. Will be thinking about you. 🩷

Sorry for missing some posts. Still very tired. Didn't sleep much, again, last night.
Nice to see you back, Uman. Welcome to the new posters. 😀

ShoesOnFirstThenCar · 16/09/2024 21:38

Hope it goes well tomorrow Penguinsa, fingers, arms, legs, and eyes for good measure too, are all crossed
Havoc hope it goes ok for your mum tomorrow too. And for you too having to be up and out early with the little’uns.
Hope DS is still improving Lemons

DD has a night out tonight (council provided respite) so DH and I just enjoying the peace and quiet. For a non verbal kid she isn’t half loud!

Penguinsa · 16/09/2024 22:30

Final bloods in 10.07pm so hopefully on for surgery at 7am tomorrow. Thanks everyone.

Hope your Mum's surgery goes well Havoc.

Enjoy your well deserved night Shoes.

MissConductUS · 17/09/2024 00:20

Sending good wishes to you for tomorrow, Penguinsa.
Also sending good wishes to your mum and to you, havoc.
lemons I hope DS is on the mend and that you won't fall ill yourself.
Fingers crossed for you all.

I had a very quiet weekend as it was horribly hot and humid, but also, to be honest, I rarely do anything exciting on weekends. I went to the Farmers' Market and bought the second last whole wheat sourdough loaf at the bakery stall. It is delicious. On the way back I raided a Little Free Library box in a front yard and got a bird spotting book and a book called "How to be Parisian Wherever You Are". I'm going to deposit in return a couple of books I have read and one that is a duplicate (not sure how I ended up with two).

DD came down with a horrible virus on Friday evening and is now feeling better after a weekend of fever, upset stomach, pounding headaches, and negative covid tests. She is currently baking a cake even though it's very hot in the kitchen, so I think she's recovered.

HildaTablet · 17/09/2024 09:55

Thinking of you and your mum, Havoc.

Lots of illness doing the rounds at the moment here, math; it's good your DD's feeling better. I’ve got Covid unfortunately.

Deathraystare · 17/09/2024 12:45

@Penguinsa

I hope everything going ahead. If they cancel this time there will be an angry mob of mumsnetters dealing with them!

@mathanxiety

I hope your daughter is feeling better and that the cake turned out alright. I always feel sorry for bakers on the bake off thingy on tv when there are working in a tent and the weather is extremely hot and all the chocolate melts!

@Mumtobabyhavoc

Hope things go well for your mum.

I am still having problems with my phones - yes pleural. Not a drug dealer, honest! My newest phone is an old style vodophone one - not swipe and I keep forgetting how to work it. I could not even turn it on. My old swipe phone (ex brother's) the sim card is dead so I have to get a new one. However, the porter told me I could swap it for the one in the non swipe phone but it is smaller so he will bring in something to fit in the other phone.

Not sure if I told you that I had recently lost my normal phone. Either on a bus or at a bus stop. I am not obsessed with phones but goddammit I have a lot of audio books on that one! Including some book club books and I do like you tube - yes, cats, cockatoos, mad Japanese etc etc and am missing it all. I am waiting to hear back from the lost property office!

Mumtobabyhavoc · 17/09/2024 13:59

Just getting up here and leaving in about an hour.
Hope things are going will for Penguinsa.
Hilda, oh dear... take care and get well soon. 💐

HildaTablet · 17/09/2024 14:03

Hope the little ones are OK with their super-early start, Havoc. Do keep us updated.

bizzey · 17/09/2024 14:21

Hoping the silence from @Penguinsa means it has all gone ahead x

Hope all goes well for your mum today @Mumtobabyhavoc .

@Deathraystare ..I have to say ...when I see your name I do always think ." Phone " !! 🤣...

In order to sometimes remember who is who on this thread I do a one word association type of thing !

Yours is,,, phone, lost Tesco and local(ish) 🤣🤣

bizzey · 17/09/2024 14:23

Hope it all gets sorted soon .

bizzey · 17/09/2024 14:24

My boys joke that I am on my phone and need it more than they do !

(Well , they don't have MN to catch-up on ...so ...🙄🙄🙄.....obvs I need my phone more 🤣🤣🤣!)

Deathraystare · 17/09/2024 16:43

@bizzey
Damn I am that predictable! Hopefully I will be abducted by aliens soon!

I am going on a walk tomorrow so anything can happen. Yes me, going on a walk! God help us!

bizzey · 17/09/2024 16:56

Ohh @Deathraystare ...you sound like such a fun and lovely person .

I hope your walk is enjoyable.
Where are you going ?

Umanresources · 17/09/2024 21:05

@Mumtobabyhavoc hope you are all doing well, you need to take care of yourself as well as the rest of the family.

@Penguinsa hope you are now recovering.

@HildaTablet i hope your Covid doesn’t last long. I had it really bad for a couple of days, but some symptoms lasted for quite a while.

I received postcards from my two young grandsons when they were on holiday in the Azores. I loved all the phonetic spellings; I’m so pleased they have been brought up to be bilingual, speaking Portuguese and English. They live in Lisbon and we FaceTime often, but they will be here for a few days for my birthday next month.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 17/09/2024 21:32

All done! I think all went well. My mum is to follow up with the surgeon in a week.

Lovely Penguinsa, hoping you are comfortable and eating choccie bikkies. ☺️

It's freezing here. Not literally, but 10-12c cooler and windy. Was 10c overnight. I think it'll be an early winter.

HildaTablet · 17/09/2024 22:03

Glad it’s done @Mumtobabyhavoc, and I hope your Mum's recovering well.

DandyDandylion · 17/09/2024 22:06

Glad to hear your Mum is safely through her surgery @Mumtobabyhavoc .

We are having a surprisingly warm spell for this time of year, though I believe it will be all change at the weekend.
