Do you sunbathe topless?

Inspired by the other thread - sunbathing topless is apparently very popular among Mumsnetters, just curious how many of us do it!

Only at home in the part of the garden where no one can see me.

I would see gardens on a par with in your own house it's up to everyone what they do in private.

I'm just intrigued about public naked breasts. Was it just on beaches people did this? I realise completely this is Normal for lots of people I just can't imagine stripping off!!!

I rarely sit out in the sun much these days as no time. But yes abroad I rarely wear a top if I’m sat out in the sun on a beach/at the pool and in the UK if it’s warm enough I prefer to be topless too - garden or beach/pool.

I quite like my tits, and have no issue with seeing nipples on anyone.

I started going topless when I was in my late teens and very body conscious and it did wonders for my confidence. But it’s not for everyone and I wouldn’t make anyone uncomfortable on purpose.

I have done naked sauna and swimming in countries where that’s the norm too. Not frequently but again I’ll happily do it where it’s appropriate. We usually have a villa on hol and it saves on the packing 😉

Yes, just on beaches, all over the mediterranean (possibly at lakes in Germany / Scandinavia too but I can't vouch for that). Basically, anywhere a bikini might be appropriate you might decide not to bother with the top.

Ah yes, saunas are generally naked too.

I am 31 and have never even won a bikini, I usually wear a tankini at the pool or beach.

I don't really mind other women being top less at the beach.

I am usually naked at home (even in winter) though so like being naked. And can understand why women would like to be half naked at the beach.

I don't mind naked less at home and have no issues with the body.
Just genuinely cannot imagine taking a top off or seeing others without their top off!! Or why this became a beach thing (and not a swimming pool thing or park thing)

I did in my early twenties but haven't done since. Although I'm early 40s and breast fed two kids my boobs are still in good shape but I'd hate sleazy men looking at me and I'm sure my DH wouldn't like it either.

If I had a private villa with just me and DH then yes, I would, absolutely. No doubt one thing would lead to another with my DH though!

I don't "sunbathe" I enjoy the shade in my factor 50! I think tbh with all the dangers and effects of sun exposure we're now aware of I don't really get why anyone would actively sunbathe at all now. But each to their own, I wouldn't bat an eyelid at someone else topless sunbathing.

Outside the uk, almost always. But under a parasol with plenty of suncream. Bikini are uncomfortable, sweaty and normally damp and smelling slightly of sea weed or chlorine depending on water.

I don't dare in the uk, too uptight in so many ways. I don't go on holiday in the uk anymore

Yes, I'm in factor 50 and lots of shade too. But without a top.

I posted on another thread about going topless in the sun recently (there seems to have been a proliferation on Mumsnet in the past few days) and said it seems to be less common on the beaches of Europe now than it was in the 80s and 90s. Naturally I got told I was spouting bollocks and/or uptight/prudish. Erm no - just saying what I'm seeing!

Really ? this has been a thing since at least since the '60's. All my aunts and cousins were topless in France in the '80s/90s.

I'm younger and we didn't often do beaches. I had heard of nudist beaches!

And I cannot imagine seeing my aunts boobs 😮.

And we didn't really go abroad much. Was it more common abroad.

Yep, I do. In the garden on a warm day I might even be bottomless too 😂

I don't sit in the sun for too long, if I do, I don't mind having white bits. I do have fabulous boobs, just don't need to get them out in the garden or on holiday.

I can't say that I see many topless female sunbathers these days. No-one was topless round the pool on my last holiday on a Greek island this year (no beach to speak of), and on a previous holiday in a different resort on the same island I don't recall seeing more than a couple of topless women on the beach. I used to see far more women going topless in the 1980s than nowadays.

I didn’t think people sunbathed any more nowadays? Everyone I know wears factor 50 and stays in the shade between 11am-3pm.

I've no issue with others sunbathing topless but for some reason I was absolutely horrified to see two women doing it at a designated kids pool whilst we were abroad this year.

My brain told me it was inappropriate.

I don’t because I’m heavily tattooed with very bright, colorful ink that wouldn’t fare well so I’m usually slathered in factor 50.
Doesn't bother me though, if that’s your thing crack on.
