I have Ofsted tomorrow and Weds so batshit threads might be a useful diversion!

Had it last week!
I'm still twitching 😵‍💫
Good luck x

prettybird · 01/07/2024 13:30

I go and look at them briefly and then come running back to sanity over here Smile

In the same way, I refuse to post on any of the Scotsnet GE/SNP threads Hmm - although to be fair, I don't think that they're as full of bots & shills.

cardibach hope everything works out well for her, no matter the age can’t help but worry about them.
I’ve just seen the “Middle Class Woman” totally nuts.

I'm simultaneously bored by them and amazed how much the tide has turned on here. I think people are truly sick of there being so much focus on it

L1ttledrummergirl · 01/07/2024 13:36

Hello newbies, welcome.

@medianewbie I hope your ds recovers quickly.

Total Batshit. Is it all the same people as the similarly batshit VAT on private school posts?

Some sensible replies on that middle class woman post, thankfully.

Does anyone know what the timeline is for installing a new government?

I assume Sunak is still PM when we get invaded/erased on Friday

There appears to be a very small faction making a lot of noise. I get the impression that tolerance of it is diminishing fast now.

I think he’s PM until the new PM - if there is one - goes to the palace. I’m still respectful of the Ming vase!

We should know by 7am. If Sunak loses he has to go to the King and resign, then Starmer goes in. I’m not sure of the exact timings, but definitely in the morning. Unless it’s a hung result and stuff goes slower then.

Evenstar · 01/07/2024 13:48

@RishisLeavingDo I had to see them 🤣 thought it only fair to share the pain

dontcallmelen · 01/07/2024 13:56

Piggy everything crossed for you, really hope it goes well must be incredibly stressful.
Littledrummer also hope your dd recovery goes well.

And from 10pm Thursday the press will savage Labour at every opportunity.

Edited

I'm betting the media rounds at 9am Friday morning will be

"Why haven't you already improved ........"

The problem will be that no one has held the Tory's account for what they haven't done for 14/years properly - but they'll expect Labour to have fixed it in 5 minutes.

Thank you everyone. I do have a standalone thread but I the good wishes of the smartest & kindest thread on MN 'these many a year' helps

Hope he's doing ok. I've just got in from work and I'm catching up. Hoo8nf when I get to the end there's a positive update 🤞

TokyoSushi · 01/07/2024 15:48

Oh @Piggywaspushed - that's quite a week!

It'll be a busy morning on Friday, if previous years are to go by Sunak will still be PM technically and then he'll do a 'lecturn outside Downing Street' resignation about 8/9am before going to the Palace likely followed by a news helicopter. It's a very brief meeting and then shortly afterwards Starmer will go to the Palace and we'll have that moment that the media always make a big deal of where 'nobody is in charge.'

Then Starmer will come back up Downing Street, do a speech about how everything is going to be better now and then go inside. Then he'll start appointing the Cabinet (rumour Lammy isn't going to be Foreign Sec) and then off we go.

Obvs this is all IF Starmer wins

I really enjoy the morning after an election - lot's to 'see'

BIossomtoes · 01/07/2024 15:49

I imagine the political journalists might be pleased to be interviewing some different politicians. It must get quite tedious talking to the usual suspects for 14 years.

I just had a nosey of Farage's Twitter feed. He posted a promotional video this morning which is very slick. He knows what phrases to trot out and can work the crowd expertly. I can see how people might be persuaded by him. He really does frighten me.

He's getting the best Russian money can buy.

I agree. I've said all along the issue isn't what he says (despite the fact I totally disagree with him!). It's the fact he can say it calmly and clearly and make you listen - if he can make disenfranchised people listen he can then persuade them to vote for him.

mibbelucieachwell · 01/07/2024 16:33

Very best wishes to @medianewbie's DS

Congratulations to @itsgettingweird's DS

What a great Rayner/Brown video - sorry I can't remember who shared it but thank you.

BBC Scotland had an interesting phone in on the need for migration to Scotland this morning. As usual I missed chunks of it. I wonder if a Scottish visa as suggested by Jackie Ballie (labour MSP) will become a thing?

It surprises me how a Labour government will be totally inept and incapable of running the country whilst at the same time being able to implement a dystopian, socialist state by the end of the month.

mibbelucieachwell · 01/07/2024 16:41

The thing I despair about though @itsgettingweird and @SerendipityJane is how people seem soooo easily taken in. As if they hear what they want to hear and get tunnel vision as a result. Don't they notice how aggressive and thin-skinned NF is?

It was the same with Doris. The impression he gave me was of someone deeply unhappy in their own skin, uncomfortable, shy and shifty. But apparently he had charismaConfused. And a plan. Confused. Look past the posh accent, good vocab and confident front people please.

Farage is clearly trying to appeal to people as down to earth and unpretentious, one of us? When he was a rich banker! It maddens me that people fall for this.
