I saw your other thread @medianewbie , I hope your DS will be ok. When the NHS works, which it mostly does in spite of the chronic underfunding etc, it is amazing and he is in good hands. Flowers

sending very best wishes @medianewbie

Saucery · 01/07/2024 08:54

My Labour candidate is being very honest about the incredibly small gap between her and the Tory MP. It’s miles away from the Electoral Calculus forecast! If she doesn’t win it won’t be for lack of getting herself out there into all the varieties of community we have in the constituency, that’s for sure.

Notonthestairs · 01/07/2024 08:56

Sending very best wishes to you and your son @medianewbie. Fingers crossed you get some answers soon.

I know why they have to use corridors to treat patients but it's still shocking to read.

Spandauer · 01/07/2024 08:58

@medianewbie hope your son is seen soon and is successfully diagnosed/treated. What a worry. 💐

Saucery · 01/07/2024 09:01

My relative recently said they’d been on “quite a nice corridor, with proper beds”. For nearly 24 hours. In comparison to other corridors with just chairs (for the visibly infirm and vulnerable) they have been on. Family waiting rooms converted to somewhere to prop up elderly people with severe respiratory problems. It’s appalling. I don’t know how the staff carry on sometimes.

@medianewbie Sending every good thought and wish to you and your son. Flowers

This might have already been posted, but it is great

This if so powerful.
Absolutely impossible to imagine 25 years on anyone sitting down with Boris Johnson or Rishi Sunak and having a similar conversation.

Escentricmolecule · 01/07/2024 09:33

@medianewbie I hope your son is seen soon xx

The Angela and Gordon video made me cry too, I really hope we can go back to this level of public service and compassion after the last miserable 14 years.

Evenstar · 01/07/2024 09:50

@medianewbie I hope your son has been seen and at least has a bed soon

TheOnlyMrsW · 01/07/2024 10:08

@medianewbie mainly a lurker but hope your DS is being looked after. Agree re: the NHS - our experiences with Dmum and Ddad recently have shown that the staff are (mainly) it's biggest asset but they are so stretched it's unbelievable

SerendipityJane · 01/07/2024 10:09

Morning.

I think there is a little dog barking we aren't hearing now. It has to be inferred, but it explains a bit.

Everyone on this thread is aware of how biased the media is.

However, it appears that bias is now past it's sell by date if it can't deliver the results it's paid for. Which the past few weeks have show in spades. And we are starting to see stories noting that the medias hysteria about a supermajority may well have had the opposite effect.

After this election, with the right wing parties of this country looking like a dogs tory, there will be a re-evaluation of how useful the media are to the right wing. And It may not be pretty.

e2a: @medianewbie - blue bubbles for your lad.

RafaistheKingofClay · 01/07/2024 10:28

Hope everything is ok with your DS @medianewbie

OutdamnHunt · 01/07/2024 10:49

Hello! Mostly lurk but have been around since Westminsterenders days and met up with Mnetters for one of the marches.
Joining in now as we are on foreign soil; we left Tory Britain last week for Mediterranean hols and looking forward to returning at the weekend to that 1997 feeling. Planning to follow OGWN on YouTube plus Guardian Live blog, probably also BBC sounds alongside MN.

HauntedPollingBooth · 01/07/2024 10:52

Look at how our little group is growing!

pointythings · 01/07/2024 10:53

And my everything is crossed for your son, @medianewbie.

bombastix · 01/07/2024 10:55

The cheek of James Cleverly; which government is the world beating convention defying constitutional wrecker?

Yours, Mr Cleverly. And now you are on the verge of losing it’s a problem. Good luck

SerendipityJane · 01/07/2024 11:00

The last few days have been particularly amusing as I read stories that until recently would have been non-news under Rish!. "Labour are doing this ...." "Labour will do that ..." "Labour have done the other ..."

All things that until last month the Tories had and were doing in spades.

But also another sign that the medias ability to control the masses by controlling the message may have run out of road,

medianewbie · 01/07/2024 11:01

Thank you everyone. I do have a standalone thread but I the good wishes of the smartest & kindest thread on MN 'these many a year' helps

Ed Davey bungee jumping today. His life may be about to get a whole lot more boring come Friday. 😂

Hi, another lurker here @OutdamnHunt - following from Sydney, Australia. I have been trying to figure out the best way to follow the results from overseas. Can you please tell me what is OGWN?

Oh God What Now - podcast, but apparently doing a live on YouTube (channel called the same thing) reacting to news coming in. DH suggested just following results but I need reaction and banter.
