Any lettuce @TokyoSushi ?

Cheguevarahamster · 30/06/2024 04:38

The Sunday Times have endorsed Labour.

Looking forward to Thursday. Having a few people over to drink and be merry.

Will be watching a mixture of TV I think. Channel 4, Sky and LBC.
"Oh God what now" are doing a live stream. Might watch a bit of BBC.

Do you think we might have to have a cat tax amnesty as the threads will move too fast we may also need a few thread titles banked for the night?

"Up all night to get Rishi"
" It's the end of the Tories as we know it ( and I feel fu#king ecstatic)

BIossomtoes · 30/06/2024 08:22

Whereas The Telegraph has Sunak telling us Labour will bankrupt every generation and there’s four days left to save the country. 😂 He’s like John Laurie running about shouting “We’re doomed”. Bit histrionic, don’t you think, Rishi!?

BIossomtoes · 30/06/2024 08:24

And yes, I’ll vote for a tax holiday on election night, we can use our best pictures for a celebration thread.

NoDishiForRishi · 30/06/2024 08:34

A tax holiday sounds like a good idea to me!

I shall preface this by saying that I wouldn't touch the sun with a barge pole usually but I am interested to see where they'll fall. I suspect Labour but begrudgingly and I think they'll 'announce' it on Wednesday.

Ugh. I feel dirty now. Nasty rag of a paper.

Birmingham MNetters - what's your opinion/feeling about the 2 seats involved here? I would be very saddened to lose these two ladies from government.

From The Guardian:
Labour is braced for a strong challenge from some independent candidates in a cluster of seats, largely driven by anger over Keir Starmer’s early stance on the Gaza war and initial refusal to back a ceasefire. Jess Phillips and Shabana Mahmood, who hold Birmingham seats, are among those who could be at risk of losing safe seats.

BestIsWest · 30/06/2024 08:39

Interesting interview with Lewis Goodall with the independent candidate in Shabana Mahmood’s seat. Have a look on Twitter for it. I too would hate to see them go.

I have found myself with 2 tv's by mistake so I may put both on, bbc and C4. Although I'll probably fall asleep anyway.

Ha that's genius!

I could have iPlayer on iPad and c4 on tv at same time 🤔

In reality I'll be asleep for most of it as I get up at 4am and have to work.

But I'm really looking forward to waking up and also catching up with you all when I get home!

I just read that. I'd be heartbroken. I know Jess works so hard for her constituents - and for all of us!

I saw that. Lewis Goodall does some really interesting pieces. Yakoob comes across as an unpleasant narcissist I do hope he doesn't get in.

Cheguevarahamster · 30/06/2024 08:46

I would be heartbroken if Jess and Shabana don't get in.

ZonderRishi · 30/06/2024 08:49

None of the polls seem to think Yardley or Ladywood will be anything other than Labour thankfully.

Escentricmolecule · 30/06/2024 08:50

My plan for Thursday is wait for the exit poll and see how I feel. I'm wondering if I go to sleep for a couple of hours after that and then wake up at 3ish which is when we'll start to get results coming in fast.

Both DH and me have taken Friday off work, but one of us has to take DD to school at 6am to drop her off for her DofE gold expedition. So we can't be celebrating too much if the results go the way we hope they do 🍾🌹😂

ZonderRishi · 30/06/2024 08:52

That's my plan @Escentricmolecule - I want to wake up about 4.

Saucery · 30/06/2024 08:53

I’m treating it as a sort of ‘Democratic Christmas’ where I go to bed at roughly the usual time and wake up early with a sense of hope and anticipation Grin

I also have to be up early to drop off DS for DofE!

I suspect I will be a bit behind the news and frantically checking these threads.

Escentricmolecule · 30/06/2024 08:54

However if the exit poll is very exciting I might just get caught up in it all and wait for the Sunderland result, then end up not going to bed - which is what happened in 1997.

countrygirl99 · 30/06/2024 09:05

My plan is try and have a kip straight after dinner and wake up.around midnight. No drinking because I have to drive to the yard to see to my horse around 6. I'll be in my redundancy notice period from Wednesday so don't really care of I'm not fully with it for work on Friday.

NoDishiForRishi · 30/06/2024 09:06

Sunak is on Laura K this morning.

And link for anyone who likes a bit of Sir Ian.

Sunak’s really lost the plot now. Someone needs to take him away for a lie down in a dark room.

I can't bloody wait until Thursday.

He’s on fire there. I wish he’d been like that in the leadership debates.

100 days is a lot slower than Truss. Must try harder
