Always a highlight of the Glastonbury weekend for me, but I was quite surprised to see it’s Shania Twain this year as it doesn’t feel enough time has passed since she hit the big time… but will keep an open mind and I did enjoy dancing to her music in my university days.

I thought it would be interesting to hear who are the favourites of past years and who would be your dream legend. Here’s mine:

Best legend: Dolly Parton
Dream legend: Labi Siffre

I picked Labi Siffre because he has so many hit songs, which have stood the test of time, are widely known and have been covered / sampled by many big names including Eminem, Madness. He is a beautiful singer and still got it despite his age (he is singing in the BBC documentary from last year with Yentob). He is a legend as he’s made a huge mark on music but I don’t think his name is well known.

Bon Jovi, but Jon having problems with his voice, it’s uncertain whether he will be able to do a concert

Stevie Wonder - I would be beside myself

Also would love to see Taylor Swift after her Eras tour, I really enjoyed her at Wembley

I am really looking forward to seeing Shania Twain on the tv.

Cher
Eminem
Muse
Kate Bush
Panic! At the Disco
Celine Dion (but I don't think she's well enough)
Bon Jovi (ditto)

Depeche Mode. Do they count as a legend?

I think they would headline not do the afternoon slot if they played.

I also thought Dolly was miming, much as I love her generally. Cher would probably mime too tbh.

I think Take That or Robbie maybe…

She was chatting way too much in between songs to be miming I think? I think she had a good live backing vocals with her.

Scorchio84 · 26/06/2024 17:37

Erasure without a doubt, one of my favourite bands to see & to listen to

TakeOnFlea · 26/06/2024 17:39

"We saw Sister Sledge at a recent music festival and they were amazing"

Please noooooo 🤣

Carebearsonmybed · 26/06/2024 17:40

Britney & Eminem to do a mash up of Stan.

thequickbrowndog · 26/06/2024 17:40

Springsteen! I'd be pissed if I had tickets and found out it was shania Twain!

Carebearsonmybed · 26/06/2024 17:41

Paul & Ringo

I'd say Rodders, but don't think he's got the voice for it any more.

I don't think he ever did, but I still love him!

wevegotarightonehere · 26/06/2024 17:44

Ultravox

corlan · 26/06/2024 17:46

Joni Mitchell

Chatting between songs is one thing, but there's no way she was singing live.

PuppyMonkey · 26/06/2024 17:47

Stevie Wonder has already done Glastonbury.

He might come back though in that slot, but he definitely did Sunday night first time.

ZittiEBuoni · 26/06/2024 17:48

Boney M

Greaterorlesser · 26/06/2024 17:49

The Police
The Jam (with Rick and Bruce as well as Paul)

Have a look at clips of her really singing live in the 70s, she’s great but she does natural breathing and misses the odd beat and note. The Glastonbury performance was too perfect and didn’t seem natural at all.

Barry Manilow

Agree . My sister bought tickets for his recent London tour and we all went along not expecting very much and it was a fantastic night , great entertainer , even my 20 something daughter enjoyed herself .

SagaNorensPorche · 26/06/2024 17:57

For Legends I'd like to see Kate Bush, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, the Smiths, Pink Floyd or Led Zeppelin.

Wish Oasis would get back together and headline. About time Radiohead did another turn too. Coldplay and Dua Lipa are ok but I can't imagine we'll be talking about their sets in a year's time like Elton John's for example.

I’d love to see that but it would 100% be headliner not legends slot.

These would be amazing!

Clawdy · 26/06/2024 17:58

Paul Simon
Frankie Valli

PuppyMonkey · 26/06/2024 17:58

Bruce Springsteen?

Craftysue · 26/06/2024 18:00

Tracey Chapman and Billy Joel
I love The Jam and apparently they reconciled in the last few years so could be a possibility 🤞

Everygrain · 26/06/2024 18:04

PuppyMonkey · 26/06/2024 17:58

Bruce Springsteen?

I think he would be headline on Saturday rather than legend slot even though he is a legend
