Dachshund Pun Names

I know of a Dachshund called Samuel L Dachshund, and it cracks me up every time.

In Ted Lasso, there was a cat called Cindy Clawford and possibly a tortoise called Jennifer Slopez.

Can you help me find a similar name for my future male mini Dachshund, please?

Frankie. Obviously after frank n furter.

hot, as in hot dog ….

There's a few that I see on dog walks with sausage inspired names.

We often bump into bratwurst, chorizo, frankfurter along with brothers banger and mash.

Surely it has to be Schnitzel Von Krumm (with the very low tum) as in the Hairy Maclary books? Schnitzel’s even got his own book series!

I'll have a think! When DS was little we used to watch a kids programme that had a cat called Mousey Tongue (Mao Tse Tung) which cracked me up every time.

Our last kitten was called (Cat) Deeley.

Is Dachs (Dax) Shepard famous enough for you? Anna from Frozen's husband, think he's an actor in his own right too.

Richmond - fine name for a sausage dog

ErrolTheDragon · 18/06/2024 19:31

We considered Schnapps.

Our first dachshund was called Max Planck, he was a constant companion.

A mini should be Chipolata

I am sure it's only a matter of time before we will bump into one, it seems we are over run with them around here and a good 7 out of every 10 all have punny names. 😂

frippit · 18/06/2024 19:39

Silly sausage or Sil for short.

A friend of mine had a wonderful Dachshund named Herr Schnitzel, may he rest in peace.

The very epitome of Small Man Syndrome (he once tried to take out an Irish Wolfhound), but what a character he was.

AstonMartha · 18/06/2024 19:43

Rudolph (Rudy for short) because he’s going to be Dachshund through the snow.

That's brilliant!

Fab suggestions so far. I like a "full name" so to speak. As mentioned by a PP, its small man syndrome x 1000, so a regal pompous name for a 5kg hound would be hysterical to me.

He (if it's a boy) has to be Mr Badger, Tommy Brock or Lord Brocktree.

Dachs is German for Badger.
