Dachshund Pun Names

I know of a Dachshund called Samuel L Dachshund, and it cracks me up every time.

In Ted Lasso, there was a cat called Cindy Clawford and possibly a tortoise called Jennifer Slopez.

Can you help me find a similar name for my future male mini Dachshund, please?

Surely it has to be Schnitzel Von Krumm (with the very low tum) as in the Hairy Maclary books? Schnitzel’s even got his own book series!

I just called mine ispini which means sausage in irish

brooksghost · 18/06/2024 21:30

DH is Scottish so our Dachshund is Doug...as he's a "wee dog/doug"

He's quite a "long Doug" too!

Our other Dacshund has a sausage brand name!

We also know a Pringle as he's the size of a Pringle's tube and a little female called Pepper (Pepperami). We've met a Slinky too.

Mine is Neville Longbottom. Amuses most people when they ask his name. He’s 7 months now and currently more slytherin than gryffindor.

we also considered Biggie Smalls and Norris (not a pun) but Nev suits him.

I have a question. If you give your dog a full name like Neville Longbottom, is that what you register them as at the vet? Or do they have your name too?

It cracks me up when they call Neville Smith at the vets but it would be even funnier if they shouted Neville Longbottom or even Neville Longbottom-Smith.

My cat is registered as Mr Rigby at the vets

PiggieWig · 19/06/2024 01:35

Is Rigby your family name or the dog‘s name?

OnAndOnAndonAgain · 19/06/2024 02:14

Yep he’s registered by his full name

there was a Hamish McTavish in once, I was most amused when a westie got up. Suited him as well.

Flash, Flash, 100 yard Dash!

In terms of what you name them at vets - our cat is called Miss Kitty Fantastico as kids and DH couldn't agree on a name and I started calling her this from Buffy the Vampire Slayer and it stuck!

Husband registered her at vets as just Kitty as he's a bit embarrassed by it so we look like we have very little imagination in her name but I take great joy in calling her by her full name whenever I can! 😀

Fab suggestions so far. I like a "full name" so to speak. As mentioned by a PP, its small man syndrome x 1000, so a regal pompous name for a 5kg hound would be hysterical to me.

Ours was a standard so more like 12kg; obviously his full name was Herr Professor Doktor Max Karl Ernst Ludwig Planck

😂

DinosaurFarmer · 19/06/2024 08:57

Next cat is going to be a going to be a ginger called Marmalade Catkins (which only works if you are old enough to remember the books/ tv show!)
