Looks like there is no Conservative candidate

Thanks. That’s a novel way of losing an election, isn’t it? I guess it’s a straight Labour v Reform contest then.

I’d so love Binface to be elected.

Evenstar · 07/06/2024 17:10

They are standing in all but Chorley (Speaker’s seat) and Rotherham where there was a late withdrawal. Only standing in 5 of 18 Northern Ireland seats. This is according to Tomorrow’s MP’s on Twitter

Lalgarh · 07/06/2024 17:12

Is there going to be some sort of unity opposition candidate up against Truss in south Norfolkshire

SerendipityJane · 07/06/2024 17:12

I think I may have cracked what's going on with Rish!

Needs some careful checking of numbers, but there have been a few power spikes in the UK recently that look like concerted AI activity.

I am suspecting he has sacked all the real advisors and is now asking ChatGPT "How can I run an election campaign as Prime Minister ?"

This would also explain why ChatGPT is stating a Labour win as a historical fact.

dontcallmelen · 07/06/2024 17:16

Would think it will have repercussions in his seat surely we stayed in Richmond when attending Ds passing out parade at Catterick, vaguely remember visiting ‘The Green Howard’s’ museum.

Mordaunt has the perfect opportunity to shore her votes up by condemning him tonight. I hope she does.

Let's hope so 🤞

I have to say I am quite exercised by the opportunity to vote for Count Binface @Lalgarh !

Another Tory candidate has had stood down, utterly grim 🤢 https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/politics/tory-election-candidate-quits-after-32984139

Honestly standing down at this moment is one thing. But standing down because you're involved in hideous scandal. Just urgh!

DeadButDelicious · 07/06/2024 17:31

Mordaunt has the perfect opportunity to shore her votes up by condemning him tonight. I hope she does.

I'm just remembering that ridiculous bloody eulogy she had to read out in the commons singing the praises of Sunak and how he was a 'signpost' or whatever it was.

I wonder what she'll say tonight...

DuncinToffee · 07/06/2024 17:31

Not an easy watch this

This country is dead. Sharia law is king.”

@lewis_goodall went door-knocking with Reform Party activists in Andy Burnham’s former constituency, Leigh, in Greater Manchester.

@DuncinToffee it’s unbelievable that these people actually believe this stuff, even more depressing that she had talked her granddaughter round to it as well.
I knew someone who didn’t agree with Brexit but voted for it because her family told her she should.

That would mean LibDem was the official opposition 😯

LlynTegid · 07/06/2024 18:01

No candidate from the Official Monster Raving Loony party in my constituency. So my Monster Raving Loony party t-shirt from about 25 years ago will sit in the drawer again.

Alexandra2001 · 07/06/2024 18:05

Her views aren't uncommon and i suspect Reform will get a lot more than 0 seats.

I'm trying to chase down the source for that. Posted on Twix.

There's a local by election for a councillor July 4th. My FB has started being spammed with posts from the Conservative candidate who refuses to admit they are standing for the conservatives. The only good thing is they have to disable comments, so can't engage.

cardibach · 07/06/2024 18:08

I don’t know @Alexandra2001
Under PR they would. With FPTP they struggle to get enough votes in any one constituency. I fear Farage m manage it this time though.

Cheguevarahamster · 07/06/2024 18:39

Fr Paul on twitter 😂

"Rishi's 'grid' for next week:

Monday: Punch Dame Judi Dench in the face. Say it's been planned for a long time.

Tuesday: Shoot Larry the Cat on the step of Downing Street. Inside if wet.

Wednesday: Take a sledgehammer to the Cenotaph, shouting that the plan is working.

Thursday: Deny that Wednesday happened. Or a big boy did it and ran away.

Friday: Deport a class of primary school children to Rwanda.

[Ed. That's enough, they get the idea.]"

My fear as well.
as said previously by some posters, Labour really need to make a concerted effort in these areas, listen & really find out what can be done to improve lives what is really needed & formulate initiatives/resources that’s makes it happen you can’t keep ignoring people that feel forgotten & angry which then becomes displaced & directed at the wrong people, rather than the government which has aided & abetted by the divisive rhetoric they have spewed over the last fourteen years.

Evenstar · 07/06/2024 18:42
