Farage doesn't care about 2024. He cares about 2029. His strategy is to divide the right, destroy the Tories, and then replace them.
Many Tory MPs want to return to something like the centre - a party recognisable to John Major or Rory Stewart. Farage wants to ...

... make sure the Tories lose even more seats so he can either make a pact with whatever is left (essentially take over) or make Reform the home of the right - either way, he wants to pull the right endlessly towards the far right.
And he'll have help. The...
... right wing media, GB News and a million social media bots will cheer him every step of the way. Ultimately he wants Britain to end up like the USA, choosing between an excessively-cautious nominally "left" party and a wildly incautious, increasingly extreme right...
... he'll demand ever more authoritarian answers, based on ever more simplistic slogans. He'll constantly promise his "solutions" will work next time, they just haven't the previous 100 times because of deep-state plots (which don't exist). And he'll fuck up the country ...
... I haven't got much time for the Tories (quelle surprise!) but the last few sensible ones need to act. Straight after the election they need to select a sensible moderate who will resist Farage. Cos if they don't, the Conservatives are done, and the country is buggered.
