A fourth rumour! That Jeremy Hunt is planning to stand down.

That's confidence in the economy for you.

I did say a couple of weeks back (around Elphickegate) that it's possible a small (with the emphasis on "small") group of Tory malcontents could force Rish! to finally call this cursed election.

Just got a bit emotional watching footage of Craig McKinley MP return to the Commons.

Wow, EB's interview really did make a difference 😂

Yes, that was quite something.

Oh god please put the country out of its misery. Call a July 4th election.

Yes, let's celebrate possibly the worst defeat the British have ever suffered in 1,000 years of history with an election.

If anyone can't see the irony, then they probably shouldn't be allowed to vote.

Sharing this just because it made me laugh and wasn't in the least bit surprising.

While we wait, a brief reflection on Johnny Mercer. A minister told me Mercer was once late for an adjournment debate. He asked one of the doormen, who are normally deferential, if he'd seen JM. The reply: "Perhaps he was delayed when he walked in front of a mirror, sir"

The post office enquiry today is a bit of a shocker as well
It's all going on

Poor Paula Vennells broke down in tears when questioned about the suicide of wrongly accused postmaster. She was, apparently, too trusting.

My arse! They're the tears of a crocodile.

BIossomtoes · 22/05/2024 13:44

The box of tissues in front of her was a nice bit of theatre.

July 4th would suit me too. Come on Rishi!

And me I’m on holiday from the 19th of July
really trying not to get my hopes up though, probably just more fuckwittery.

I had to switch off when she started "crying". Ugh.

Cameron had to cut short his trip to Albania for the 4pm meeting

This is looking promising. Dare we hope?

tobee · 22/05/2024 13:57

Hmm. Will Sunak have the guts to do it?

tobee · 22/05/2024 13:58

I'd go for Hunt to stand down at election? And dealing with the chaos of this announcement?

I'm just a pessimist I suppose

BestIsWest · 22/05/2024 13:59

Even the BBC are reporting the Election rumours now.

BIossomtoes · 22/05/2024 13:59

It makes me wonder if there’s something bloody awful hoving into view on the horizon that we don’t know about yet. Something they’d want to be in opposition for.

Maybe we are about to declare war on France over small boats and need to stock up on bottled water for the upcoming siege

Notonthestairs · 22/05/2024 14:02

Maybe he wants to extend the rollout of the chess boards to the whole of the UK & NI.

I do wonder whether they'll want to get rid of Hunt before they start throwing more pre-election tax cuts around.
