Well, he might as well go, most those cnuts that gave us Brexit have decided to quit.

I'll never forgive them for this, making the UK worse off for personal gain.

Well so far he’s:
Called an election in a torrential downpour, with a backing theme tune of ‘things can only get better’
thrown out a sky news reporter from the launch event live on air
abandoned his flagship Rwanda and anti smoking legislation despite these being the only things that might constitute a ‘legacy’
gone to meet the people but only the ones he’s planted as fake workers
had his photo taken in front of an exit sign
held a press conference in the ‘titanic quarter’
sent the local Belfast media to the wrong place for the press conference twice

Staying home could only help his chances at this point.

And pissing off the entire nation of Wales by asking people if they were looking forward to the Euros.

Does the Tory exodus mean we don't have to pay "redundancy" to loads of losing candidates in July? That should save a few hundred thousand pounds.

Sadly no. They get their golden goodbye anyway.

Thingscanonlygetsunk · 25/05/2024 07:29

Surely if they need a caretaker PM it makes more sense for it to be Truss since she is still an MP. (and much misunderstood).

InMySpareTime · 25/05/2024 07:29

That's a cushy number. What other job pays you to resign for incompetence?

Loads. I’ve seen many an incompetent manager paid off to go quietly. It’s cheaper in the end.

You should read her book.

Its great if you can't get to sleep, will sort you out in no time.

Football managers! Much more lucrative 😄

In the case of Vinny Company it appears that the reward for being utterly dire at the Burnley job is to get the Bayern job - wowzers!

Someone will be game for taking on the PM ship until the election, as it will give them a huge pension.

Ah yes, the lovely pension, you're right, somebody will definitely do it for that!

Gove is probably regretting announcing he is standing down already. Time for a flip flop?

Notonthestairs · 25/05/2024 07:40

I'm happy enough to pay them to go away. But will they go?

David Aaronovitch on Twitter suggested Gove would end up editing The Times (Alan Rusbridger suggested The Telegraph) which will be enough to end my subs to The Times after 27 years.
Obviously should have done it ages ago.

We're gonna need a new thread soon @DuncinToffee we're getting into the a thread a day zone! 😄

I reckon.

IClaudine · 25/05/2024 08:02

I hope no one else leaves. They are taking all the fun out of it!

Spandauer · 25/05/2024 08:13

I've only just managed to catch up on these threads since The Wet One announced the beginning of The End on Wednesday!

Liz Truss must be circling the streets around No10 surely? (lettuce prices are going to go up...)

BestIsWest · 25/05/2024 08:20

If he does stand down then what happens? Does the new leader need to be an MP? Could they resurrect Cameron (or God forbid Johnson) and put them in a very safe seat?

No time to get them elected as an MP.
If you want a former PM has to be Truss.

Otherwise Govey for PM.

the80sweregreat · 25/05/2024 08:28

I was thinking what will happen if the PM ' steps down '? He may not want to win his seat in the GE as then he'll have to stay on?
Will they just have a 'caretaker' one ?

newnamethanks · 25/05/2024 08:33

Things can only get wetter. What if the only one left is Jonathan Gullis? Gullis for PM. You know it makes sense.
