regrouping I reckon. It seems as though it came as a shock to Sunak's own party?

I hope Labour runs a tight election ship and keeps the gaffes to a minimum.

Just watched it on the news. Think that has to be one of the most cringeworthy political moments ever. Why on earth did they send him outside in the rain?? And the music! I almost felt sorry for him.

Well...I wouldn't go that far :)

It's just...so weird isn't it?

I watched it and just thought...."what have I just seen!?"

I really think this has come as a total surprise to most of his MPs.

He'll bugger off to the US with his wifes billions. He'll be grand.

I have a bad feeling about this GE. I felt the same about the Brexit referendum. Uneasy. A bit worried.

It's gonna get pretty nasty I reckon. I sincerely hope there is no violence.

I must admit to be looking forward to the "mogg moment" on election night 😀

Nicking a possible thread title from the media "Sunak: things can only get wetter"

user8800 · 22/05/2024 23:10

I shall start planning my election night nibbles and drinkies 🥂

IClaudine · 22/05/2024 23:14

It will get nasty @user8800 both in real life and on social media.

But there won't be a shock result akin to Brexit. The polls are just so much further apart. Unless something really unexpected happens between now and polling day Labour will win a majority, it's just a matter of how big that majority will be.

Me too. I am thinking a BBQ for dinner if the weather is good. Also planning my top ten hit list of Tories to be toppled.

Will be a nervous wreck at 21.59 on July 4th!

Evenstar · 22/05/2024 23:23

I am making bingo cards so we can slap a bingo dabber down on their faces as they lose their seats! Adult DC are getting them to play along and we will have prizes 😊 Definitely drinks and nibbles too

And your proof of this is?

You may not like him, but he will be PM on July 5th.

Well he’s giving the penis women more rights, and taking rights away from the old fashioned cunty ones.

He may well be. He may not be.

I REALLY hope you're right

I just can't shift this feeling. I'm not usually such a pessimist, honestly!

Sunk Theme Toon?

Lyrics:
When the colors of mourning have faded away
And you don't know where the road is leading
The edge of the sky turns from blue into grey
And there's nothing to ease the pain
When you're losing your way in the rain
Oh, sometimes I'm right
Oh and sometimes I'm wrong
But I'aching now and sinking slowly
And I know in my mind that we have to keep on
But it just doesn't seem the same
When you're losing your way in the rain
Don't want to go back there again
When you see how far you've come
Trying not to feel lonely and waiting for the sun
There are times when you're weak
There are times when you're strong
There are times when you are in confusion
And sometimes you feel your direction is wrong
It's not easy to take the strain
When you're losing your way in the rain

On GE night there's always a surprise person who keeps their seat. And a shock person who loses theirs.

I've had a similar idea in my head for a while now. Maybe we could all 'play' the Bye-Bye Bingo online together?

We could all have a list of our Top Ten Tories-to-be-toppled although I suspect some lists will be identical.

My top ten are:

  1. Jacob Rees-Smug
  2. Stella Braverman
  3. Jonathan Gullis
  4. Kemi Badenoch
  5. Lee Anderthal
  6. Gillian Keegan
  7. Michael Gove
  8. Rishi Sunak
  9. Andrew RT Davies
10. Virginia Crosbie

Oh bugger....my list needs to be longer 🤣

Morning all

The chaos continues. Beth Rigby.
"Blimey, told a serving minister asked at '22 if they could submit a letter of no confidence in PM. Another source tells me there's a lot going round on some WhatsApp groups about how this might be route to stop GE. "They are clueless," says source. "[Tories] are in deep trouble"

Agreeing with @user8800
I feel quite uneasy. And if you add reform vote to Tories it’s then only a 10 point lead. Just expect the attacks on Starmer will get more frequent on here and loads of posts about trans issues.
Re there bring a VONC to stop the GE I believe that if Sunak has already gone to the king it cannot be changed….

Well, if you are going to add in Reform to the Tory polling, then why not add in LD to the Labour one?

I guess there still is time to have a Tory/Reform pact and that could change things.

Lottelenya · 23/05/2024 07:10

@Alexandra2001 what worries me is that Reform is mainly disillusioned Tory voters, Lib Dem’s are a separate party (although hopefully there will be some tactical voting Lib Dem to Labour). Once campaigning starts wavering reform voters could easily swing back…trying to stay positive !

Don't forget you also have to add the people who don't vote to the Tory count.

Piggywaspushed · 23/05/2024 07:32

Sunak on BBC now if anyone has the stomach.

If he tells me one more time that my pay has gone up I won't be responsible for my actions (which will probably be very loud tutting).
