He looks a bit unhinged to me.

DuncinToffee · 22/05/2024 21:40

It is all very weird

Maybe we are in an episode of Black Mirror?

Wow! Extraordinary but true - some furious Conservative MPs are tonight working on a plot to CALL OFF the general election by replacing Rishi Sunak as leader before Parliament is dissolved next Thursday.
One rebel Tory MP tells me he believes “several” more letters of no confidence in Sunak have been submitted to 1922 chairman Sir Graham Brady.
The MP: “Today has clearly been an absolute disaster but the election is NOT irrevocable; up until the point of the Dissolution of Parliament - when the writs are moved to begin the contests, it can still be aborted.
“In other words, if enough Tory MPs, who are clearly going to lose their seats in this already utterly shambolic campaign, write to Sir Graham Brady, tomorrow , the election could still be revoked.”

Wow - they are quite seriously deranged. I mean, what difference do they think a few months and a new polished turd in the hot seat is going to make? Poor Mogg with this and Gibralter, he must be needing a lie down, peeled grapes and a fan from Nanny.

I reckon Rish! recorded than before the rain, that's why he was late.
It's always a lie in plain sight with this lot.

They're desperate to get their polling below 15%...

@RoryStewartUK : "Have you got any idea why he (Sunak) is doing this?"

Rory's former colleagues are speculating as to why an election has been called....

That fits with various things I’ve seen this afternoon. Rishi being warned that he was close to there being enough letters but calling the election has pissed off a lot of MPs and might push it over the number needed.

Since no actual governing is going on and any bills they do suggest seem to be morally questionable I’m ok with the death throes of the Tory party providing us with some much needed comedy.

IClaudine · 22/05/2024 21:53

More Sunak cringe:

Not sure it's that simple and they'd put the Kung in a very difficult position (not that that would bother this lot).

Notonthestairs · 22/05/2024 21:55

King not Kung!!!

More, welcome to the real world

https://x.com/ShippersUnbound/status/1793385211624816820

Interesting that the reaction of Tory MPs tonight is fatalistic about the result but fury at Sunak. They thought they had 5/6 months to get a job, to plan their lives. They think Sunak doesn't care about them with his millions and his US home. "Selfish" a word I've heard a lot

😂The irony!
Welcome to seeing how it feels to be shat on by the richest guy in the room, the public have had it for 14 years. Not so nice being on the receiving end, huh?

This is just the gift that keeps on giving.

Has any government ever fallen apart so utterly spectacularly?

Wonder where Clav is?🤭🤭🤭

That's because he knows what a woman is!

Oh yes Jess he does! He especially welcomes those ones with penises. He loves those ones more than the old cunty kind.

You may not like him, but he will be PM on July 5th.

RafaistheKingofClay · 22/05/2024 22:17

People are clapping as Sunak speaks on that video but their faces tell a completely different story. Some definitely look like they could happily lynch him. Nobody looks like they believe a word he says. Particularly when he says the plan is working.

Not sure why the previous link was deleted, the video looks the same

On the original there was a howling spelling mistake on one of the captions.

The whole thing was bizarre

Why outside in the pouring rain? Why not the hugely expensive boris media room?
Why not under a canopy or umbrella?

I'm starting to think that he decided this after breakfast!

The HofC meal ticket is about to end for many tories and they are angry

Just watched it on the news. Think that has to be one of the most cringeworthy political moments ever. Why on earth did they send him outside in the rain?? And the music! I almost felt sorry for him.

TheABC · 22/05/2024 23:02

On the plus side he lasted longer than Liz Truss and he be immortalised in memes.

That clip of him in the rain was <chefs kiss>
His Comms team must hate him.

The threads tonight are remarkably balanced. Maybe the Tories know the gif is up and CBA to post their normal lines. Or maybe regrouping is happening?
