How often do you clean the bathroom?

Is once a month sufficient? Family of 3. Loo is cleaned weekly.

Reminded that I wish they would ban bleach, as nobody seems to know how to use the stuff properly.

So what is the 'proper' way to use bleach? Must admit I do not like bleach. Hate the smell. DH loves chucking it down the loo. He thinks he's cleaned the bathroom by just pouring bleach around but he never wipes anything!

Bearpawk · 07/05/2024 21:23

Once a week thoroughly. Then the odd wipe down during the week as and when needed.

Helloandgoodmorning2 · 07/05/2024 21:28

Two bathrooms here and they both get done daily. I follow the Flylady system of ‘swish and swipe’. Saves ever having to really ‘clean’

WiseUp · 07/05/2024 21:29

DH does it once a week. It’s one of his jobs. 😊

I wonder if you would ever, in a million years, see this question posed on male chat forums?

Sink and bath daily as in wipe round with cleaner and a cloth.
Toilet as and when it needs doing. Which is often with 4 people using it.
Do a 'deep clean' of floor mopping and mirrors once a week.
The shower....not often enough 🙈

BeaRF75 · 07/05/2024 21:55

Cleaner does it once a week. I'm another one who doesn't understand all this chucking of bleach down the loo - never done it, never will.

Bambam2019 · 07/05/2024 22:03

Don’t really have a set schedule, just as and when needed. If there’s toothpaste marks in the sink I wipe them away, and end up wiping the taps down too. The toilet gets cleaned (wipe down and bleach on an evening) most days. I Milton my sons bath toys in the bath every week, so I guess the bath gets a clean then, too.
but it’s the same with cleaning anywhere in the house really, just whenever we get chance, run the hoover round, or dust a particular area or whatever. I’ve just started Mat leave though with my second so am nesting at the moment, so cleaning more often!

Weekly as a minimum.

Same.

Talkwhilstyouwalk · 07/05/2024 22:04

Weekly clean and loo as and when it needs it or if we have guests.

I do Fly lady too! How Clean Is Your Sink?!!! 💜💜

Librarybooker · 07/05/2024 22:05

Weekly, but it’s the DHs job

BobnLen · 07/05/2024 22:07

Only two of us, usually cleaned every week or two

CherryBlossom321 · 07/05/2024 22:08

Twice a week, family of 4.

FatAndFiftySomething · 07/05/2024 20:08

Intrigued by everyone chucking bleach down the loo. What for? Under the rim? In the bowl?

Me too. It’s bizarre, what is that about - apart from adding yet more pollution to the (already terrible) water!

alphabetzoo · 07/05/2024 22:13

gamerchick · 07/05/2024 20:19

Every day. Takes minutes when you keep on top of it.

Same Although I only fully wash the bath and standing shower 1-2 times a week

Questions:

Why is cleaning shit always a woman's job?

Why does it somehow reflect badly on her if a toilet looks like it's been used?

What do people think bleach does, and why do they think toilets require them?

How often do these frequent bleachers clean their phone, remote control etc?

Would you tip a whole bottle of bleach in a river? If not, why tip it in your toilet when there are perfectly good eco cleaners?

Our toilet gets cleaned probably weekly, more often if needed, less often if I can't be arsed.

Houses cannot be sterile ladies, you're wasting your lives in a vain attempt to eradicate bacteria.

  1. it isn't me or DH do it and let the other one know on the daily

Why does it somehow reflect badly on her if a toilet looks like it's been used?

  1. oh come on not one wants to piss in a toilet full of shit

What do people think bleach does, and why do they think toilets require them?

  1. people can use what they like

How often do these frequent bleachers clean their phone, remote control etc?

  1. most nights when the grubby children have gone to bed

Would you tip a whole bottle of bleach in a river? If not, why tip it in your toilet when there are perfectly good eco cleaners?
5) again people can do what they want

Our toilet gets cleaned probably weekly, more often if needed, less often if I can't be arsed.
6) wonderful

Houses cannot be sterile ladies, you're wasting your lives in a vain attempt to eradicate bacteria.
7) yeah let's all live in a pig sty. Some of us just like to have a clean home

TheChosenTwo · 07/05/2024 22:23

The cleaner does them thoroughly once a week, dh or I will wipe over the sink in our bathroom daily, whoever is last to do their teeth. Toilets get a clean during the week as and when they need it or I notice it.
No bleach is used here, the smell knocks me sick.

If your toilet is smeared with shit regularly then you need to have a word with your cohabitants.

Causing environmental harm because you can - nice.

It's really obviously not a pigsty of a house or unclean if you don't bleach your toilet daily. It's not necessary and harms the environment.

UnicornMamma · 07/05/2024 22:27

As a cleaner definitely every week of you can.

I do have some clients who I clean for every other week and I clean the bathroom then and that seems to be enough to get by (but that's a low traffic household)

motherbear43 · 07/05/2024 22:29

Struggling to understand why putting a bit of bleach down the loo to kill germs left by shit is such a sin. I don't use a full bottle of bleach, just a squirt around the rim. I also don't use bleach anywhere else in my home.

Really not going to get worked up over it....

Cleaning is shared in my our household. 9 year old does fair share too.

Don't want to see shit stains in someone else's loo so wouldn't expect anyone would want to see it in mine.

Bleach leaves toilet shiny. Kills germs. Perfect for toilets.

I clean phone, remote controls etc all the time. They are gross.

I haven't found an eco cleaner that's any good. Tried loads.

Not trying to be sterile, just clean. Toilets are vile after a few days. Cleaning it only once a week makes me want to vom.

I do like having a clean house though.
