Is a 28” waist really small?

So I bought jeans in this size as an insensitive to fit into them.

A friend who I would consider as slim (she’s also tall 5 foot 10) said that’s a really small size like teenage girl size.

My 15 yo daughter who is very slim has a 28" waist so I'd say so, yes.

I think it’s a standard size 10.

It's a size 10. At 5'10 I guess that's proportionally pretty slim though. Less so at 4'11

Its not small its a standard 10. People are just generally fatter.

I wouldn’t say an actual 28 inch waist measurement was particularly tiny.

Looking at a pair of 28 inch jeans here (my son’s) and yes, looks small to me! ( I’m size 12/14)

Not really. 24 or under is a small waist. 28 is average. But in jeans it can differ a bit.

I was a size 14 25 years ago. I have the same measurements now but I am a 10-12.

Average? Isn’t it unhealthy over 31? (Inches, not years 😁). Though of course depends on your height.

My husband is very slim - weighs about 10
stone and is 5’11 - he is a a 30 inch waist.

When I was a teenager in the 80s, the enviable statistics according to the magazines were always 34-24-34. Agree with pps that 28" used to be a size 14.

I'm 5 foot 3. Waist 25 inches size 10.

I've got a pair of vintage jeans that used to be my mum's many years ago and they are size 10 with a 22 inch waist. I'm surprised a size 10 is now a 28 inch waist, that's not very small.

I think it's pretty average if you're within the healthy weight range, probably in the middle of that (although obviously some people will carry their weight very differently).

When I was age 16 and 5 11 I was a size 28, 34 inside leg in jeans. I was probably a 10 in most teenager style shops. Top shop etc In my 20s I’d definitely have to go up at the waist even though I was still a ten.

Yes it did! 28 isn’t small it’s a size ten now. I remember having a size 26 waist when I was in my twenties and thinking I needed to get it to 24 inches!

I used to have a 24 inch waist it’s now probably about 26. When I’m with my Chinese relatives I’m one of the fattest. When I’m with my English friends I am one of the slimmest. I am post menopause.

It probably looks it on someone whp is 5'10. I've a 27.5 inch waist but I'm barely 5'3. So small but not really small. I've got a big butt though, so I guess it looks small in comparison to that.

You'd need to be 26 round the waist and to be quite an athletic (or teen) shape to get into a 28 pair though, wouldn't you? I'm 25 round, but need 32-34s due too much arse. I'd say it's not small if you're short
