Your favourite way to eat pasta

If I'm out I love a well made lasagne. At home, for a quick and easy dinner, I love making a sauce with Boursin cheese and having it with penne, mixed with chicken and doused in doused in lemon. Anything creamy and garlicky is a winner.

And sometimes you just can't beat a good plate of (very cheesy) macaroni cheese with garlic bread. I'm not sure if that last one is a British thing or a Scottish concoction. Up here macaroni cheese always comes with garlic bread.

What's your favourite way to have pasta? Answers in more detail than "by the tonne weight" please.

That Boursin chicken pasta with lemon sounds divine ! How do u make it OP ?

I like lasagne too. I abso like a Cajun chicken pasta I make which is sauce made of double cream, Parmesan, garlic, Cajun seasoning mixed in with pasta, chopped up Cajun chickrn and tenderstem broccoli tips.

alsi a fan of carbonara, macaroni, bolognese !

Chopped garlic in the frying pan with olive oil and chicken (I just chuck in the leftover chicken that I've stripped from a roast the night before)

Get that smelling nice then add the Boursin (half to feed two people if you're being good, the whole thing if you've any sense of joy about you) and a little milk or pasta water. Get that all melty and add lemon slices and let it simmer on low heat a while. Before you fling the pasta in, throw in some spinach leaves.

Mixy mixy then serve a big heap of it with parsley and Parmesan because there's never enough cheese. Ever.

sadly I'm low carb to control my diabetes without medication, so pasta is just a dream these days.

I'm vegetarian, so right now I'd take ANY vegetarian option if you could make it zero carbs!!

Years & years ago (pre diabetes) someone made filled pasta shells in a sauce. It was to die for!! If I could eat pasta I would go through very piece of paper in my house to find the recipe (I know I had it at one time) but I write A LOT & have a lot of paper !! I've moved several times & blah blah...

(and no, no courgette or other substitute is adequate!!!!)

Creamy chicken tagliatelle with garlic, shallots and white wine, specifically the way DP makes it, oooof

Spicy chicken and chorizo, lots of peppers and onions, also heavy on the cream

And I love proper OTT gooey mac & cheese with diced crisp bacon

Basically if it's not full of cream, cheese or butter, I don't want it

Yes to shallots. Forgot about this.

So on board- the creamier the better.

My guilty pleasure is bacon chopped up and fried with onion and garlic, maybe some frozen peas thrown in too, and then all stirred through spaghetti with ketchup and loads of cheddar cheese and black pepper. Yes, I know the ketchup bit is just wrong, but it's delicious like this and I won't hear otherwise.

Less ketchup based would be with a creamy mushroom sauce. Maybe a bit of chicken.

Another crime against pasta! Appalling behaviour!

Puttanesca

bloodyeffinnora · 26/02/2024 20:40

I love bolognese with tagliatelle but the sauce has to sit on top of the bowl of pasta, not mixed in like my husband likes it.

Opinione · 26/02/2024 20:43

Nigel Slater's creamy sausage pasta is lovely and so easy to make. I just use normal sausages rather than spicy ones. It's my kids favourite meal

Good oil, chilli flakes, garlic, salt, spaghetti.

or a tomatoey ragu made with red wine

ClaraPalaver · 26/02/2024 20:45

Chopped spinach, Philadelphia and gruyere. It's an old Annabel Karmel recipe. No longer have babies but still make it as comfort food.

Cheeseismyfavourite · 26/02/2024 20:45

My fave easy meal is feta pasta, it’s so quick and no prep required.
A block of feta, some small tomatoes, garlic lemon juice salt and pepper and some crushed chillies cooked in the air fryer for 15 mins. Smash it all up and then add the cooked cooked pasta, so yummy and creamy.

WandaWonder · 26/02/2024 20:46

I love it when it doesn't have too much sauce but I like different sauces with different shapes

I do like lasagne also

louderthan · 26/02/2024 20:46

With prawns, chillli and chorizo. Lots of garlic and salt and pepper, olive oil and any fresh herbs I happen to have in the fridge.

ClaraPalaver · 26/02/2024 20:48

Recipe here just use proper sized pasta, radiatorre if I can get it. Add loads of salt, pepper and nutmeg.

SgtJuneAckland · 26/02/2024 20:50

Proper homemade lasagne takes some beating

I also like garlic, smoked bacon, white wine , mushrooms and a splash of cream, parmesan on top
Or for a super quick supper loads of mushrooms and a dollop of filippo berio truffle pesto , which DH says smells disgusting, but it's delicious and he's a heathen who doesn't even like mushrooms

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 26/02/2024 20:51

Bucatini all'amatriciana. Essentially pancetta, onions and tomatoes. Bloody gorgeous!

GreenMarigold · 26/02/2024 20:52

A prawn linguine with creamy red pepper sauce.

Spaghetti and meatballs in a tomato, red wine and garlic sauce.

Lasagne, macaroni cheese, chicken and vegetable pasta bake.

I love pasta!

ClaudiaWrinklemum · 26/02/2024 20:52

Cream, butter, pancetta and fresh basil, and a spoonful of chilli pesto. Mixed with tagliatelle and covered with an entire bucket of grated Parmesan.

Or lasagne. My lasagne is mainly cheese though to be fair.

Dussa · 26/02/2024 20:52

I made the most luscious mushroom pasta the other day, kinda by accident using up some things in the fridge. Pasta was that floppy ribbon type, think it is papardelle. Sauteed loads of chestnut and shitake mushrooms in butter, added salt, black pepper and garlic, mixed in a load of Philadelphia and some creme fraiche (which made a delicious creamy mushroom sauce), some chopped parsley and a grate of parmesan on top. It was heavenly

devildeepbluesea · 26/02/2024 20:54

Hungover comfort food: Al dente with olive oil, S&P and stacks of grated cheese (then melted in)

Also Mary Berry’s lasagne recipe but done really really slow for hours in the oven. I also use the ragu for bolognese.

If I’m out I love anything seafoody with chilli.

tiredmumma8696 · 26/02/2024 20:56

Salmon pasta is my absolute favourite with lemon and a creme fraice sauce and a touch of chilli. This thread is making me hungry

shenandoahvalley · 26/02/2024 21:02

Huge ravioli, ideally lobster with a butter sauce

Beef ravioli with sage butter

clam linguini

cacio e pepe

spaghetti with garlic, chili flakes, fresh tomatoes, basil, optional mozzarella. But tomatoes have to be tip top

fat fettuccine with braised short ribs

Small bowl of spaghetti with fresh basil, very olivey olive oil, fuckton of garlic, crushed crispy prosciutto and a glass of chilled Chablis

Definitely down for this. With linguine.

Homemade lasagne or cannelloni or a 'proper' carbonara. Also vongole or a good seafood linguine.
Also love the insta/tiktok viral Boursin pasta (not the one mentioned above) it's quick and delicious and the only way I can get any fresh tomatoes in me on a regular basis. Topped off with my favourite truffle hot sauce.
