Or do you tuck in now?

Absolutely, I have some in this week's shopping order that I intend eating over the weekend 😋 they are on offer at the moment so why not?!

Erm no I don't.
It's chocolate... it's not unusual to have Christmas chocolate or food before Christmas.

We save Christmas food until at least winter solstice. It generally lasts us until Epiphany.

Does no one else think Easter egg chocolate is lovely then?

I consider the January - Easter period to the my Easter egg feasting period and it brings me great joy. I fecking LOVE Easter egg chocolate.

We have ours on Good Friday. We first did it in 2020 when we all wanted to feel better, and we’ve done it every year since. The dc get eggs from family and some friends, so they’re just spread out more over Easter weekend by having them on the Friday.

but surely that is not respecting the meaning of good friday, and it's so near to wait til easter day.

alexdgr8 · 21/02/2024 20:53

i think it's sad that so many people don't want to keep the seasons of the year.
it's part of our tradition and history, and a cultural world that should be shared with children.

DanceMumTaxi · 21/02/2024 20:54

I love crème eggs so I eat loads of them before Easter, but never the proper eggs.

Kalevala · 21/02/2024 21:02

I haven't bought any yet to give, the offer on the large eggs at tesco is until the 5th. I'm not sure if another offer will follow? Has anyone else noticed what a rip off XL eggs are? Large, around 200g, are £3, on offer for £2. XL are barely any bigger, the Cadbury creme one is the same hollow egg with two creme eggs instead of one, for £5!

We just enjoy it more that way.

TheWildWest · 21/02/2024 21:29

I have just eaten a small chocolate button egg, very nice. Come Easter l will be sick of sight of them but hey ho. Life is too short.

MeanCup · 21/02/2024 21:32

I don't really have Easter Eggs for myself. DC get them on Easter Sunday.
We have mini eggs etc before then.

SweetBirdsong · 21/02/2024 21:35

NotmySundaybest · 21/02/2024 20:01

Or do you tuck in now?

Yes of course. Bit mad to buy them now and eat them all... Confused

If I want chocolate I will buy some, not eat my Easter Eggs. (Well, one egg, and 10 creme eggs.)

IslayAnn · 21/02/2024 21:50

Yes we wait until Easter, had to as a kid so it's just stuck!

Tulipvase · 21/02/2024 21:53

I’ve already eaten 2 bags of mini eggs and a small egg.

There is something about Easter egg chocolate that is more appealing even though it’s more expensive. I think it’s the thinness, I particularly like the crack you get.

Needmoresleep89 · 21/02/2024 21:55

I’ve eaten 2 small mini eggs ones and a few crème eggs so far. The rest of the year I only really eat dark chocolate, but there’s something about Easter eggs

Tisfortired · 21/02/2024 21:57

Yes! I would absolutely not comprehend eating an Easter egg before Easter Sunday! We have other Easter themed chocolates and hot cross buns etc, but the eggs themselves are for Easter Sunday and beyond.

EdgarsTale · 21/02/2024 21:58

I’ve already eaten about 4 Cadbury’s Easter Eggs. I love the chocolate egg, it’s much nicer than a bar of dairy milk, so I buy them instead of normal chocolate.

ODFOx · 21/02/2024 21:59

Yes. I eat DC eggs before then because I can afford to replace them, obv!!

Elphame · 21/02/2024 21:59

DP has this week started his Easter Lindt bunny he was given LAST year!

New2024 · 21/02/2024 21:59

Don’t buy them now, but they are for Easter so yes I’d wait esp if they were gifted. I would not buy them for myself. I don’t count mini eggs

You’re not religious then? Eating them on Good Friday is completely against the whole purpose and meaning of Good Friday. I really do cringe at some posts on here sometimes.

Nellieinthebarn · 21/02/2024 22:03

I wait until Easter Sunday to eat my Easter egg. And hot cross buns on Good Friday toasted for breakfast. It keeps special days special. I know its silly, I eat fruit bread and other shaped chocolate all year round, but it makes me happy, and harms no one.

QueSyrahSyrah · 21/02/2024 22:04

Mini eggs are fair game and I'm already at least a dozen bags down. A big Easter Egg I wouldn't eat until Easter though.

flowerpotmike · 21/02/2024 22:04

Big main eggs get exchanged on Easter day and eaten during or after the day.
I buy them a bit in advance and store them because I worry about being able to get hold of specific ones nearer the time.
Small Easter items such as creme eggs and mini eggs can be eaten at any point. I spend Boxing day to Easter day stock piling so I can have a stash all year round. I do love an Easter product.

Forgottenmypasswordagain · 21/02/2024 22:05

No.

Oh absolutely, mini eggs and creme eggs are exempt from the East Sunday rule, it only applies to big eggs, preferably wrapped in foil and in cardboard packaging.
