Or do you tuck in now?

I honestly didn't know adults had Easter Eggs! I thought they were just for the kids.

I wait until Easter to eat my Easter eggs. Any pre-easter Easter eggs, i eat before

44bookworm · 24/02/2024 16:53

As a kid I could choose to have 1 egg on Easter Sunday or wait and get 2 on the Monday. My dad didn't object to the cost of them but preferred getting 2 for his money! I would do that now but shops are often sold out so usually end up buying in advance.

Does no one else think Easter egg chocolate is lovely then?

Yes but it’s the exact same chocolate as in a bar of Dairy Milk (or equivalent), only ten times the price.

Why not just buy ten bars of Dairy Milk and have done with it?

Monkeybutt1 · 25/02/2024 06:39

I'm with you OP, Easter egg chocolate tastes much nicer then a bar.
We already have out Easter eggs, we wanted the Dairy Milk half milk half white ones so got them when we saw them as only Sainsburys have them around here and we don't have one nearby
DS got his off family yesterday as we won't see them again before Easter.
I have said main eggs are to be saved until Easter weekend, but mini eggs, creme eggs etc are fair game.
I have a bar of the mini egg chocolate tucked away that I will be eating later tonight.
I've already eaten a pack of cheese hot cross buns 😋
I have a pack of chocolate ones that I've frozen in an attempt to save them.

@FrownedUpon I'm with you on this. I cringed at this post at the start of the thread -"But chocolate tastes nicer in Easter egg form - and that is a hill I will die on!"

you “cringed” at a light hearted post about liking Easter eggs more than chocolate bars 😂

Tesco have loads of medium size eggs on offer for 2 quid each. I must resist eating any I might have chucked in my trolley this morning.

No at the irony of using “that is a hill I will die on” in relation to Easter…

I just bought eggs and the medium are at their regular price of £1.50 and the large are £2. I got my small nephew a medium and my teen a large.

Perhaps they are large then. They were 2 quid anyway. I think the small ones are 75p in Morrisons.

It does seem excessively childish to have an Easter egg as an adult. I would much rather stick with my two squares of dark organic chocolate twice weekly from Green and Black.

That is an extravagance surely?

Augustus40 · 25/02/2024 17:19

Two tiny squares!

Two tiny squares!

Positively profligate.

Luckydog7 · 25/02/2024 17:22

The only eggs we have the house pre-easter are for other people. Wouldn't dream of buying one for myself!

Saying that I must admit that those Reece's peanut butter eggs are actual crack and they are only available this time of year so tend to stock up. See also the Cadbury caramel filled ones...

I'm doing keto for Lent so holding off this year...sigh..

Gosh, you certainly know how to live it up!!! 🤣

it’s psychological I’m sure but to me, chocolate in the shape of an egg is just yummier than in a bar. So I definitely eat them before Easter to make the most of the tastiness!

I agree! I also like trying to break up the two halves by scoring them with a knife… without getting an uneven break. Quite stressful tbh.

Juliansfunkyshoes · 27/03/2024 19:10

I eat the small £1 Easter eggs in the weeks leading up to Easter as it takes the pressure off picking a “Main” egg 🤣🤣

timetodeclutter · 27/03/2024 19:15

Yes. Otherwise where's the fun?

Doesn't mean I ain't cracking into the "regular" dairy milk in the meantime though.

timetodeclutter · 27/03/2024 19:17

I also don't eat an advent calendar or mince pies in November. I like a bit of ceremonial around these foods/events!
