If you watched the Traitors final ... [spoiler alert]

... I'm sure everyone can agree Harry was a "brilliant traitor" and it was "only a game", but having seen how naturally and casually he was able to lie and manipulate people, would you now be wary about forming a relationship with him in real life?

For me, I think his relationship with Molly crossed a boundary. It was brilliant TV, but an uncomfortable ending. I'm sure they gave Molly counselling afterwards and I read that she and Harry have patched up their friendship since the show was filmed, but I wonder if she will find it difficult to trust others in future. I suppose the cynics amongst you would say "all men are scumbags" and it was a good lesson for her. 🙂

What would have happened in that penultimate vote if Jaz had voted Harry? It would have been a tie, two votes each for Andrew and Harry.

CountTo10 · 28/01/2024 11:39

@MissJoGrant You've missed the point. If all three were faithful why would Jaz want to banish again? Vaguely possible he wouldn't want to share with 3 faithfuls and just wanted to split between 2 but he needed Molly onside and that was too much of a gamble (as was shown.)

If Jaz was a Traitor the only reason he would want to continue the game would be because he didn't want to share the money with the other Traitor again showing Mollie there was at least 1 traitor left in the final 3.

Logically Jaz was saying loud and clear to Mollie that he was a faithful and Harry was the traitor but she let her heart rule her head.

I think the shows problematic, do we really need a show that encourages a young man to manipulate and lie to (at the very end) a young woman?

I found it uncomfortable viewing tbh.

What a shame you are forced to watch it. Can you not get a TV with an off switch?

They all knew what they were signing up for.

But Jaz didn't know there was another traitor for certain. He just had a hunch. Mollie obviously thought Jaz had got it wrong and that they were all faithfuls so chose to get rid of the one she didn't want to share the money with. She was ignoring the signs for sure but Jaz didn't know for sure either.

CountTo10 · 28/01/2024 12:02

@dhxxx No he couldn't know for certain but again Harry wanting to end the game supported his theory because he actually did have 'evidence' re Harry regarding telling Paul his suspicions.

CountTo10 · 28/01/2024 12:13

Plus if all 3 were faithful Jaz must have known he most likely to be voted out anyway missing out on a third of the prize money. He may not have been 100% certain there was another traitor but he was sure enough to gamble his share of a faithful split.

2dogsandabudgie · 28/01/2024 12:31

They all knew the rules of the game. They would have gone through numerous interviews before being picked for the show. I think Harry played a brilliant game, he's very young himself. The whole point of being a traitor is to convince the faithfuls that you're a faithful, so of course you have to lie and be manipulative, you're just acting a part. I think it gets harder towards the end as they bond with people and I think the last 5 were a genuinely nice group of people.

I agree with your last sentence but no, I haven't missed the point. From Mollie's point of view, she may have thought that all three were faithfuls AND that Jaz was incorrect in thinking that Harry was a traitor.

ScribblingPixie · 28/01/2024 14:29

Yes, she voted to end the game so she clearly thought Jaz was faithful. But she also thought Harry was a faithful.

Jaz put a bit of doubt in her mind about Harry, but she had previously had doubts about Jaz. So ultimately she chose to go with the impression she'd had throughout the game. I thought her decision was fair enough.

AgentProvocateur · 28/01/2024 14:34

Mollie failed to think logically as @MissJoGrant pointed out. It was blindingly obvious to everyone watching, but in the heat of the moment her critical thinking ability deserted her. Harry kept her in, knowing that she was probably the least switched on.

He already has a serious gf who is a BBC presenter and loads of 'famous' friends so don't think he really need the money he just wanted fame..

Think Mollie should have won!

I do feel similar. I'd like to have seen Jaz mollie or Andrew win

autienotnaughty · 28/01/2024 14:53

For me the game wasn't the problem as it is transparent. but there is something about men and how they are perceived in society comparatively to women and how women are taught to conform, that seemed to play out

crumpet · 28/01/2024 15:00

Nowtbettertodo · 27/01/2024 21:28

I did feel some sympathy for Mollie BUT a little common sense would have told her that if Jaz was a traitor he would have just ended the game and won.

It would have been equally legitimate to think that Jaz wanted to split the money 2, rather than 3 ways.

or to think that Jaz genuinely but wrongly believed Harry was a traitor.

so she had 3 possible options s, to work through in the space of minutes in a highly pressured environment

Harry was pretty bad actually when challenged, his skill was in avoiding being challenged by being charming and helpful in missions etc. I wouldn’t be worried if I encountered him in real life. He really wasn’t an evil genius.

Agreed. He looked like he was in agony when he confessed to being a traitor. Talk about a pyrrhic victory.

I wonder if Jaz and Mollie would have been told they needed to agree on who to banish - no voting, just agreeing between them

Changingplace · 28/01/2024 19:39

If there was a tie I think it would probably go to another vote, that’s what they did when there was a tie during a banishment vote.

thegruffalosmaw · 28/01/2024 19:50

Harry did nothing wrong (other than be a mysoginis prick).
Mollie did do something wrong - in a game like this, you trust no one!
Plus there were so many signs and she was utterly thick.
She deserved to lose.

Edited

But that would probably get the same result -therefore it would be a coin toss-which would be fairly rubbish.
