If you watched the Traitors final ... [spoiler alert]

... I'm sure everyone can agree Harry was a "brilliant traitor" and it was "only a game", but having seen how naturally and casually he was able to lie and manipulate people, would you now be wary about forming a relationship with him in real life?

For me, I think his relationship with Molly crossed a boundary. It was brilliant TV, but an uncomfortable ending. I'm sure they gave Molly counselling afterwards and I read that she and Harry have patched up their friendship since the show was filmed, but I wonder if she will find it difficult to trust others in future. I suppose the cynics amongst you would say "all men are scumbags" and it was a good lesson for her. 🙂

I think it’s hard to say whether it truly was easy for him to lie so easily. It could all be in the edit.

the lesson for Mollie was that she shouldn’t ignore warning signs no matter how much you do believe in someone. She wrote Harry’s name down 1st in the last banishment because there was some strong suggestion that he was a traitor and I think she’d started to worry a bit earlier on as she kept saying “if you are then I’ll never forgive you” and was clearly looking for reassurance.

Yep, she voted with her heart not her head.

I was rooting for Jaz. If he'd been able to win Molly's trust he and her could have won it together, but she was too blinded by her loyalty to Harry.

I was rooting for Harry early in the game, especially when he got Paul out, but I thought he started getting a bit cocky after that.

I do feel sorry for Mollie as that decision to rub Harry's name out cost her £47,500 but at the end of the day it is a game they all signed up for. They are also quite sketchy on filming time but I suspect it was all.filmed over about 2 or 3 weeks, so they had only known each other for a very short period of time.

I also think his military training made it easier for him to detach from his emotions. I also think Mollie forgot she was playing a game.
I know a few on here don't agree but I think Harry played an absolute blinder of a game which is what it's about. Jaz did too, if Mollie had thought about it at the end she have realised there was no way it was Jaz who was a traitor otherwise he would have ended the game. I think she did almost realise it but went with her heart instead of her instinct. This doesn't make Harry untrustworthy in real life, he just knows how to play a game to win shit loads of money.

This is a game where people sign up to be traitors or find traitors. Why did she thibk he'd have to tell her the truth?

He's not be allowed to tell her the truth, and if he did she would banish him. (Unless he recruited her)

More counselling pre bring in reality tv probably needed. Do you want the British public to comment on you? Do you want them to consider you are a sheep or silly or too trusting?

He was supposed to lie to her! What did she expect him to do? Come clean at the final round table?

He had to lie, traitors are not allowed to reveal themselves to faithfuls and of course he had no loyalty to Mollie, he had known her a few weeks and has his own family/partner who will be his priority.

I think he was brilliant, I wanted it to be either Harry or Jaz to win. Given it was only Mollie/Harry in the last two I am glad she lost. It’s a game show and I think she was too naive for it.

Why would Jaz vote to banish again if he was a traitor, what was she thinking?

A life lesson I don't think she'll forget......don't trust anyone at face value!

She must be cringing now about the voting but I do have to say, weren’t both Mollie and Evie AMAZING at the abseil and cave swim?! Especially compared to Andrew..

I chatted about this to DS, who watched it with me. He’s 7.

He said “Mollie must think that Jaz is really greedy and wants a bigger share of the money”.

It’s a fair point.

I also think that Jaz came across as fairly financially comfortable, so she may have felt that he was the type who could afford to gamble 1/3 of 95k.

Exactly. The whole point of the game is that you cannot be rock solid about anybody! She was incredibly naive, and it was a huge mistake. I do feel for her, because how mortifying to have it all played out on TV in front of millions

Harry practically admitted it when he said to Jaz and Molly that he didn't think they were traitors .He was too convinced Molly and Jaz weren't Like how could he be so sure unless he was one himself?

Exactly, she’d stopped thinking critically at this point, she’d stopped seeing the game.

It'll be good for her modelling career though, so she'll do ok out of it.

Paul was some sort of sales manager for a tech firm - if I was one of his clients in RL I would have less trust in him going forward.

Jaz and Andrew did themselves proud.

No I wouldn't. If I was playing that game I'd lie a lot as well. But I'm not like that in real life.

I really felt for Jaz. I was rooting for him to win and Mollie ruined it. Mollie got to the final because she was very naive.

I have to remind myself that the only way the traitors can win is if they act like traitors. To be honest with Mollie would be to give up his share of the winnings, which Mollie wasn't happy to do. Surely everyone must go on that show willing to be a traitor?

True! The traitors didn't chose to be traitors, and the only way for them to win is to deceive. Harry done very well and I feel sorry for Jaz because if Mollie used her head, he would have won half the money.

I don’t condone all the abuse Mollie is getting online but she didn’t reach the final because she was smart and good at the game. She was Harry’s pet and he kept her there for a reason.
its a shame for Jaz but she didn’t deserve to win as she was coasting all along.

It's not real life and everyone taking part know that people are lying. The game is about spotting the lies. Mollie didn't spot the lie. She may have been friends with Harry but unlike in real life she also knew for sure there was a chance he could be lying to her. So you can't judge people on their behaviour on a TV show where the whole premise is trying to win a game by manipulation and telling lies! I think I'm a very honest person but if I was a traitor in the show I'd be telling untruths with the best of them!

On the Uncloaked programme afterwards, Harry mentioned "my other half" several times. I wonder whether he was in this relationship during filming, because he certainly didn't mention anyone else then and it was pretty clear that Mollie was interested in him. They said something about being like brother and sister, but I think at that age you'd probably be less likely to think that - certainly I didn't get the impression that Mollie thought that's what their relationship was like.

The most heartbreaking bit is when he pulled out the sword and said he wouldn’t keep the prize money. Her little face when she said ‘legend’. So full of hope.

He's been going out with his girlfriend for about 2 years so yes.

I didn't really think Harry played that great a game, it seemed like a lot of luck that he never had to deflect or defend himself. He was incredibly full of himself, more so than Paul who seemed roundly hated!

Weirdly, I'd have more of a problem trusting Mollie than Harry in real life. He was playing the game. She forgot that and came across like I'd find it hard to trust her to make sensible decisions using her head rather than heart.

Harry was great and he played the game brilliantly.
He came across as a decent lad who - when the game allowed - was a real team player. That, for me, is more telling than the fact he lied about things because he was told to lie about things.
Ultimately, Mollie - though very sweet - seemed quite naive. She forgot she was in a game show where people have to lie and betray others. Had she thought for one second, Jaz wouldn't choose to banish someone if he was a traitor (unless Harry was also a traitor).
The editing process means there's so much we didn't see. But I'd not struggle to trust Harry in the future just because of how he played the game.
It's a tough lesson for Mollie to look at the evidence not just what your heart tells you. Good luck to all of them.

I don't think he was naturally manipulative. He seemed to find it difficult on occasions. He was just playing the game that they all applied to play.

That said, I agree it must have been a horrible experience for Molly in that moment. But then she was able to rationalise it pretty immediately afterwards. I reckon she'll be ok but agreed that she's owed a duty of care in the circs.
