Shit dinner thread

Couldn't be asked to cook today. Long day at work and just generally knackered. I thought I did pretty good rustling this up in less than 45 mins (considering I was really close to ordering takeout) but according to DM, it is a 'shit dinner.'

Any other shit dinners to share or does everyone else eat 5* gourmet 7 days a week?

Chicken Kiev/Kyiv, mash and peas 😋

Haggisonfire · 25/01/2024 19:56

We had haggis neeps and tatties and managed to set fire to the fucking thing. Luckily apart from smoke and a black pan there is no damage. And we still ate it.

Hummusandstuff · 25/01/2024 19:56

I had one of those cooking moods this week so we had a bbc recipe of slow cooked five spice pork with egg fried rice and various green stuff. Then home made pear and almond pudding.
We often have similar to OP’s dinner though. Am no food snob!

Honestly op WHY are you giving her ammunition to judge you??

The dippers are abit quirky but the rest is standard mid week fare and definitely at the upper end!! Your mother sounds bloody awful, next time she can come over and cook for you 🥦

I had a pasty and a diet coke.

AceofPentacles · 25/01/2024 20:01

Three cream crackers and a packet of crisps

Elisabeth3468 · 25/01/2024 20:02

Also had a very busy and hectic work day and didn't get home until quarter to 7 to which point my 2 year old was bouncing off the walls because nanny had given him half an Easter egg? I mean?? Can't understand that. But anyway we had sausage mash and veg as a quick one.

Blimey @Stockinggg , what more could anyone want?

muchalover · 25/01/2024 20:04

Crumpets.

Cucumber, beetroot and boiled egg. Which is as good as it gets.

Might do a slow cooker stew tomorrow. The veg have been in the fridge for a bit.

Yesterday l had light crispy pastry wrapped round delicious pork on a bed of haricot beans in a rich tomato sauce ..topped with a sauce made of molasses and vinger with dates.😋

Yes a shit tea.. of a Greggs sausage roll with bake beans and brown sauce.🤣

MoonWoman69 · 25/01/2024 20:05

Grapes and water... The water to drink, the grapes aren't floating in it!!! 🤣🤣🤣 Having one of those "don't know what I want" phases and DH is away, so when I have fancied food, I've been having weird combinations!!!

NerdyBird · 25/01/2024 20:06

I had a tin of Heinz tomato soup and half a grilled cheese sandwich to dip in. Your dinner looks fine to me.

FedUpMumof10YO · 25/01/2024 20:07

Pizza

FusionChefGeoff · 25/01/2024 20:08

I've had chips and 1/2 pack of Doritos Grin

Lol, my kids had dominoes tonight and sometimes make do with eggs on toast for tea… I feel it makes them appreciate the ‘good’ meals I do the other 3-4 days a week!

Tarkan · 25/01/2024 20:15

My kids (they're 20 and 15) made their own dinner tonight which was instant noodles and chicken nuggets. I just had a bowl of cereal then a small handful of tortilla chips.

Because it's Burns night most people I know seem to be having haggis so I was tempted by one from the chippy but didn't want anything too greasy in the end and the kids wouldn't eat it anyway.

Ahhh well that explains the haggis themed shit dinners on this thread lol

DH got pizza from the co-op. I don't care for the co-op pizzas. He knows this.

It was also a smallish thin and crispy soggy pizza which ds and I shared while dh had a bigger deep pan one to himself; so I'm already hungry again!!

CuriousGeorge80 · 25/01/2024 20:21

Beans on toast. Dinner of champions.

That sounds lovely. Heinze tomato soup is my comfort food

OhNaffOffYouWazzock · 25/01/2024 20:21

The nuggets can get in the bin but the rest is fine.

soupfiend · 25/01/2024 20:22

Looks ok to me, not my thing but its not a shit dinner.
