That's not a coffee or carrot cake as I make those quite a lot. Bit bored of chocolate. Fancy making something a bit different on Sunday as I have a whole day to myself child free. Any ideas?

Dorset apple cake with a streusel topping. It's so moist (sorry)

Chocolate fudge cake (I use Nigella's recipe with extra cocoa powder cos it's not quite chocolatey enough for me)

@Blomdd This thread was a great idea! I'm going to come back to it whenever I need some baking inspiration! 🍰

For something different, pistachio, pomegranate and rose cake? So pretty!

Tahini and halva brownies are DH's absolute favourite. He asks for them every year as his birthday cake.

Upside down pear cake with ginger sponge and really sticky caramelised pears on the top. Serve with a dollop of extra thick cream, or even mascarpone, with a little vanilla mixed through.

Gingerbread sandwich cake filled with ginger flavoured icing.

A simple Victoria sponge.

Lemon and raspberry - Jane's Patisserie has a good one
Bara birth
Battenburg - go with different flavours if you are feeling fancy

Blackforest gateau or bakewell tart - yum!

BringMeSunshine48 · 20/01/2024 10:10

I love a lemon drizzle!

Itsmeamandaberry · 20/01/2024 10:32

Humming bird cake with cream cheese frosting 😍

Katherineryan1986 · 20/01/2024 10:54

Lemon drizzle

Readingthedictionary · 20/01/2024 11:00

Lemon drizzle is a nice change.

I'm salivating over the pomegranate and rose cake, the lavender, the coconut plus everything else!

I want cake....now.

So much better than just a lemon drizzle IMO

Other than carrot, which is my all time favourite, lemon drizzle or banana bread

CrushingOnRubies · 20/01/2024 14:45

Pineapple upside down cake. But I also partial to Victoria sponge and carrot cake

FatArse123 · 20/01/2024 14:55

Princess Cake (the green Swedish one) is my favourite but I'm no5lt brave enough to try and make it. Second choice would be a Victoria Sponge made with butter (not marg) and good quality cream and jam.

It's easy too. Just a loaf cake. So not too much faffing. But tastes amazing!
