That's not a coffee or carrot cake as I make those quite a lot. Bit bored of chocolate. Fancy making something a bit different on Sunday as I have a whole day to myself child free. Any ideas?

Dutch apple cake with cinnamon and a nut crumble topping

Or orange and lavender with fresh orange curd in the middle

Pineapple upside down cake, bronuts and old school style sponge cake are favourites in this house

I love a really decent red velvet.

I had somewhere a little lemon sponge mini cake, with a raspberry icing topping and a raspberry in the middle / maybe Gail’s but that was lovely.

If you want something sweet but a bit different try clafoutis https://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/fruit-almond-clafoutis with a dollop of custard omg I’m now fantasizing about making one this weekend…

DH makes me a lovely ginger cake with a glacé thin iced top. Delicious!

DH…. Want cake!🍰

Coffee is my fave but as that's not an option I'd say lemon drizzle. Or maybe white chocolate cheesecake but that's obviously not really cake!

Whatevershallidowithmylife · 19/01/2024 23:05

Apple and cinnamon ….. of which I’m just about to have a slice of with a cup of tea - ah Friday nights these days!

Lemon drizzle, or a cherry and almond cake

JustBeach · 19/01/2024 23:29

Honey cake , I've had it one time and I've never tasted something so delicious! Had a google and unfortunately it's way beyond my baking skills

MrsMoastyToasty · 19/01/2024 23:29

A rich fruit cake. Bonus points if it has glacé cherries in it too.

I single handedly demolished the Toasty household Christmas cake as Mr Toasty and Junior Toasty don't like it.

RaininSummer · 19/01/2024 23:51

Nigella's damp lemon and almond cake

Ladyj84 · 20/01/2024 00:01

Carrot cake my whole family adore it but not the shop ones. Has to be a family bakery fresh one or home baked proper one with the right icing to lol...Funny enough nobody likes chocolate cake. Coffee and walnut cake is another fav, tho the kids only get a sliver as use real coffee not flavouring.... ah I have so many..love a baking day

Gabbysdollhouse · 20/01/2024 06:06

TerfTalking · 20/01/2024 07:03

Lemon drizzle and a very almondy Bakewell tart.

Ambi · 20/01/2024 07:06

Lemon blondie or black forest gateaux.

Luckydog7 · 20/01/2024 07:15

Caramel cornflakes crispies. Homemade caramel covered cornflakes with a thick layer of chocolate on top.

Tiffin is easy and delicious.

OldTinHat · 20/01/2024 07:18

Always a classic Victoria sponge with buttercream and strawberry jam.
