I agree @Igotjelly. I would be surprised if it's someone being paid, if it is, their employers are spending their money badly because they aren't very good at the job.

Mmm, I don't think this one was giving paid bot vibes.

It only takes a minute to make a throwaway account so I'll catch up with you in about 6 months πŸ˜†

Kind of confirms you are the same person posting under different names.
You're a very sad individual, DFOD

Reddit has better tools to prevent this. The moderators there can block new accounts and even require that posters have accumulated a specific number of karma points to post.

Generally I do agree with not engaging with the trolls, on the other hand I do think it’s important to address points that they make that risk peddling the Russian narrative unchallenged. More for those silently reading than anything else.

It's a tricky balance. On a forum I moderate we have a Russian propaganda poster.

Generally they do more harm to their cause than good because there's enough knowledgeable people (including myself with the help of knowledge gained from here) willing to pull their posts apart and they're shown for what they are.

I do need to watch out for ordinary people who are simply war weary and want it to end by any means including Ukraine giving up territory latching on to the "other side of the story".

As if the world's free, independent press and the Russian propaganda machine are equal sides of a coin.

It takes a different kind of discussion with those that just want the horror to stop than with the propaganda trolls.

The increasingly common use of VPNs makes preventing returning banned members very difficult for average forums.

There was a time the use of a VPN was reason enough to be suspicious of a new poster but now many routinely use them to access greater content on Netflix etc.

I'm sure Reddit has the same problem, but they steps they can take discourage trolls by making it harder to create throw-away accounts and jump back on a thread after a specific handle has been blocked.

According to The Insider, Russia withdrew its Black Sea Fleet from Crimea following the loss of 20 ships due to strikes by the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Ruslan Pukhov, the director of the Center for the Analysis of Strategies and Technologies in Moscow, suggested that Ukraine effectively forced the Russian fleet out of Crimea, making no Crimean port secure for Russian warships. Oryx, a Dutch analytical center, points out that Russia has lost at least 20 warships, including submarines and amphibious assault ships, since the onset of the conflict.
Following attacks on the port of Feodosia, the Russian fleet's reliance shifted to Novorossiysk. However, even there, the port faced an attack: in August, the amphibious assault ship "Olyenegorskiy Hornyak" was destroyed.
