How did you meet your current partner?

I'm not on any dating apps currently but have been in the past. I have started a new job and joined a couple of classes but there are very slim pickings there.
So just curious to know where you met your current partner? Online or in Real Life?

Real life. We were housemates in a London house share.

Whiskers4 · 04/11/2023 21:47

I gave up on meeting Mr Right, so moved away from parents and bought a flat, something just for me. My neighbour, who lived above, knocked on my door to invite me and friend to a party at his (and I looked a real mess at the time), we got talking and went out for a drink. Married 18 months laterand still together 29 years later.

I was having a bit of a fling with a bit of a cad - huge fun though. He took me to a Ball and DH, a chum of his, was on the table, his gf was one of the organisers. It was instant. Eyes across the table. We danced and danced and I had already thought- from nowhere - "I'll marry you".

He broke up with gf (of five years) and two months later phoned me up. This was 35 years ago. We've barely been apart since our second date and I love him a bit more every day.

bakewellbride · 04/11/2023 21:53

Match nearly 9 years ago. He was my second date and I realise how very lucky that is. Married, house and children, so happy.

Barleysugar86 · 04/11/2023 21:59

We both rented rooms in a shared house.

Puffalicious · 04/11/2023 22:07

In a bar. I was on a hen night (a classy one!) & would never have gone to this bar- not my stomping ground. He had moved into his new rental flat that very day & wandered in for a drink. The rest is history.

Neither of us were looking- both divorced, me with 2 young DC- but 13 years later & a DC here we are.

Looking for ideas for BF. She's been on the OLD scene a year (after 20 yrs married) and It's just dire.

At work

Apossum · 04/11/2023 22:25

I worked with (and was friends with) the girlfriend of one of my now-husbands friends. She just figured we’d be good together so gave DH my number one night, we started talking and that was it. Married with a toddler, two dogs and a business together now.

Facebook messenger. We had previously worked in the same building. As a receptionist at the time, I knew who he was though had never spoken to him directly. A few years after I left he sent me a friend request and I accepted out of curiosity which i never normally do. (We had mutual fb friends).
Turns out he had asked our friend about me and she had told him I was recently single .
We have been together 8 years now and he is the best thing that has ever happened to me and by DC. He is the kindest, caring, funny, generous (and attractive to me) man.
When we did get together he had messages from his various friends saying they couldn't believe he was with me at last as seemingly he had fancied me all along but never approached me as he knew I was married at that time .

Networking event.
It was an evening one, hosted by his company. He did a speech and I went up after to congratulate him and several hours later we were having a dance off in Flares.

He was my sister's boyfriend at the times best friend. This was 1980. Got together 7 years later and still together.

Herne · 04/11/2023 22:51

At work.
I didn't like him at first AT ALL thought he was cocky.

I had to take time off due to being seriously unwell and he was quite genuinely concerned about me, offered to come to the hospital ect ect after me being dismissive of him tbh 🤣

8 years later we are still together.

Hibernatalie · 05/11/2023 08:26

Through a mutual friend I met at work, he went to Uni with her boyfriend

Whataretheodds · 05/11/2023 08:31

Through a shared hobby. I wasn't interested romantically and he was getting together with someone else. Just found him to be fun company. A couple kf years later they had broken up, he messaged me (full lockdown) and we chatted for a good while all very platonic before being allowed to meet up, met a couple of times, eventually had a snog, rest is history.

CrebillionFils · 05/11/2023 08:35

Met in a bar on night out. My friends from a abroad took me out while I was heartbroken after a cheating ex and then met DP, the gorgeous and kind father to my daughter. Been together 8 years.
