How did you meet your current partner?

I'm not on any dating apps currently but have been in the past. I have started a new job and joined a couple of classes but there are very slim pickings there.
So just curious to know where you met your current partner? Online or in Real Life?

Met my DH at work, while my previous marriage was reaching its end. My ex was emotionally abusive and I'm so glad I left. DH and I have been together for nearly 6 years now with the loveliest DC.

I'd suggest joining a gym, or even MeetUps if you're in a city.

DH and I met at uni 11 years ago at a club we both went to. Been together 10.5 years, married 5 and expecting DC3 next year.

I met my husband at school. Went out briefly in year 10. We stayed in the same friendship group loosely but no effort to stay in touch. He got married to someone we both knew at 22 and had a kid.

When he was getting divorced I was also in a bit of a life transition. I had a long term boyfriend but he was working abroad. A mutual friend invited me on their boys night out so I gatecrashed. He dropped the fold out sofa on my toe. I emailed him when my toenail fell off lol. Had a bit of a fling but when my boyfriend came home I decided it wasn't just a fling so finished my relationship and the rest is history!

Met at work. Gave me the courage to physically leave the marriage I had mentally checked out of. Together 9 years now and 2 dc.

I got a job temping at the company he worked for after my graduation whilst I applied for permanent jobs. We were working together on a project, became good friends and he asked me out at the office christmas party. We'll have been together 24 years this Christmas.

I met my late husband on Tinder, he was the first person I chatted to on there, we messaged for a while then met up. We were together for 7 years and married for 9 months.

I'm so sorry for your loss. Flowers

jadey1991 · 04/11/2023 20:01

Outside ymca. That was 16 years ago. Now we have 4 children together.

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 04/11/2023 20:03

Thinking of my friends:

1 met her DH at the gym.
1 met her DP on Tinder
1 met her DP online before moving to his country for work.
1 met her soon to be DH at my wedding. She did our reading and her DP was a groomsman. They saw each other again about 8 months later at a BBQ we were having and the rest is history.

shieldmaiden7 · 04/11/2023 20:11

Hinge. We chatted for about 3 weeks before meeting. Been married for just over a year.

Simonjt · 04/11/2023 20:12

I met my current husband via a dating agency, I’d tried traditional online dating, but never managed to chat to someone who I actually want to go out of my way to meet.

LadyOfTheCanyon · 04/11/2023 20:13

Guardian soulmates in 2008. He was very much the diamond amongst what was -and I'm being generous here - a steaming pile of lefty misogynists.

RabbitsRock · 04/11/2023 20:13

Dateline - I used to say he was the best £50 I had ever spent! Still remember walking into the pub on our first date & seeing him sitting at the bar. It was like that song “ Exhale”. I had been dating for a while but so many of the guys were really odd! My now DH & I talked for 3 hours that night. I moved in with him after 6 months, got engaged after 9 & we were married a year & 2 months after we met. Now been together 22 years & married 21.

Butterscotch81 · 04/11/2023 20:15

MaidOfSteel · 04/11/2023 20:18

I met my husband at work. We didn't start seeing each other until I was moving on to a new job, though.

Comeonmommy · 04/11/2023 20:18

Smooch - he basically moved in after 2 months, properly after 8 months, been together 13 years ♥️ He was the only guy I met up with and knew on the first date we'd be together ♥️

Inyourwildestdreams · 04/11/2023 20:21

Met at the only New Year that I’ve ever gone out for 😂👏🏼 My booked taxi never turned up to take me home so I walked to the taxi rank to wait in the massive queue. Spotted a guy I knew who lived in my hometown further up the queue so went to see if I could share a taxi with him and his flatmate that he was with.
13 years on and the flatmate and I are married with a DC 😊

MissCherryCakeyBun · 04/11/2023 20:22

Plenty of fish back in 2013 got married in 2022. Both 2nd time around and blissfully happy with each other we have 4 girls between us who are all grown up. And now get to live a life we both enjoy.

SoAndSoSaidSo · 04/11/2023 20:22

We met at his brothers birthday party. Coming up for 20 years together and 18 married.

Ohwhatfuckeryisthis · 04/11/2023 20:23

I was working as a waitress in a cocktail bar...(well, actually I was working as a barmaid in a grotty city centre pub) I was friends with his friends, he came back from uni, night of passion, vanished. He had a personal tragedy, when he started going out again we all went out and that was it. 40 years later still together.
