How did you meet your current partner?

I'm not on any dating apps currently but have been in the past. I have started a new job and joined a couple of classes but there are very slim pickings there.
So just curious to know where you met your current partner? Online or in Real Life?

Love reading all your stories , after a bout of bad luck with men, it's very heartening to read how you all fell in love and are still happy 💗

In 2012 when I was 22 second year of university. Saw him with his mates on a night out in Revs, thought he was fit! Went over and said hello and 12 years later I can't get rid of the bugger!

GigiAnnna · 04/11/2023 20:43

Met my husband on Plenty of Fish.

RandomQuestionOfTheDay · 04/11/2023 20:48

A night out in town. He was a friend of a number of different friends in different ways, so it’s more surprising I’d never met him before.

I asked him out though, which was the first time I’d done that since I’d been turned down by a boy aged 14 and had vowed to never do that again.

Sharontheodopolodous · 04/11/2023 20:52

I met dp online

I'd been on and off the apps for years with no luck-met some lovely fellas and some utter doss

I signed up to one just after my ex (I was bored one night) and started talking to this one fella (I liked the look of his dog!)

We just carried on chatting on there, and finally swapped numbers

He came up to see me (we lived 136 miles apart) so we met in the flesh outside tesco

Had a ldr for a year,(he used to drive up every weekend to see me)

I moved to be with him bought a house and been together 8 years, living together for 7

Just about to become grandparents which is exciting for us

In the local pub on his birthday. I was his best ever birthday present Grin

were you appearing arms aloft, from a large wheeled in cake, whilst wearing spangles and a big sparkly smile ?

Parky04 · 04/11/2023 20:58

She was the sister of my mate. She gave us a lift to the pub one day, and I fancied her so much! To my mates disgust, I asked her out, and 31 years later, we are still going strong.

LindorDoubleChoc · 04/11/2023 20:58

He was my best friend's boyfriend.

Cumbrianlife · 04/11/2023 21:02

He was a childood friend and neighbour of my best friend. He hung about with her three brothers. He'd know BF since she was born.
We were only out that night because BF had surprised me with tickets to a show and we went out afterwards as we'd booked the next day off work. We never went out midweek and he was a chef who usually worked when we had nights out.
We were engaged within three months and married six months later. She's still my closest friend and DH and I have just celebrated our 30th anniversary.

Loafbeginsat60 · 04/11/2023 21:03

Match.com

I had been on 3 dates before I met him. We went for a walk on the Sunday and were engaged by the following Monday!

🤩

Online. Ourtime.

I was still doing casual sex dating at the time. As soon as I laid eyes on dp in a video call I knew that I had at last met someone it was worth giving up the naughty dates for. Together 3 years now and we're still naughty together.

Never turn down social invitations . The last time this was brought up on here most people said they were introduced by friends or family , or at events hosted by those people .

I met DH through our friends .... my friend knew his friend through work, his friend was someone he'd also met through work..different sites and jobs, but same very large national company, which back in the day was well known for sociableness.

ThirtyThrillionThreeTrees · 04/11/2023 21:15

A friend was supposed to pick her partner & his colleague up but got a flat tyre so asked me to do it instead.

I thought he was attractive and fully intended on asking my friend more about him but he asked her for my number so he could text me to thank me and after a few texts asked if he could take me out for a drink to thank me in person.

weegiemum · 04/11/2023 21:18

At university in 1989. I was 18, he was 19 when we met.

Been together 33 years, married for 29. Sometimes young love does last!

wlv12 · 04/11/2023 21:21

Met at work - cliche but he is a Chef, I was a waitress. That was 1999, we married in 2002, still married now.

Applerumleandcustard · 04/11/2023 21:21

My mum was chatting to his stepmum arranged a meeting
We met , Now we’ve been married 30 years

YfenniChristie · 04/11/2023 21:29

Speed dating - a friend wanted to give it a go but didn't want to go alone; I had no interest in dating but she roped me into going with her. I don't remember much of our 3min chat, but we got chatting after and really hit it off.

Been together for 7 years now, married for 3, and have an 18mth DS.

SylvieLaufeydottir · 04/11/2023 21:36

Online, but not through internet dating. We were two regulars on a message board, eventually the UK regulars got around to meeting up for a drink, a week later I dumped the guy I was seeing and invited myself to his house for the weekend. That was 20 years ago now.

43ontherocksporfavor · 04/11/2023 21:38

These stories are great. Just shows how chance meetings can be the one.

DaftyLass · 04/11/2023 21:39

We met at a party, in the mid 90s
Married in 98
Still married

DeeCeeCherry · 04/11/2023 21:41
