I just had a rummage in my freezer looking for inspiration for tonight's dinner and found a plastic container containing leftovers of some sort. I always write on the lid what things are, and it clearly says:

CEDRIC GROSS

What in the wide world can it be? Do I have to thaw it so I can find out? It looks like it may be something with rice, but what? 😂

But also, how can we guess when you're certain what you've written and you've described the contents as a kind of rice dish?

PenelopeTheShroudWeaver · 09/11/2023 15:09

I'm weirdly invested in this now

(I knew a Cedric in primary school who was rather gross and quite snotty, I just thought I'd share this here)

My DH defrosted a tub of mashed potato to eat with a pie whilst I was at work. He found it was butter icing! I really don't remember freezing any at all!

DeireadhFomhair · 09/11/2023 15:11

I've been waiting with bated breath for nearly two months!! What is it??????

KeepSmiling89 · 09/11/2023 15:13

Marking this thread as I REALLY want to find out what this mysterious food is!

MechyMagic · 09/11/2023 15:14

Ooh I'm invested in this. I suspect a chilli!

Pinkpinkplonk · 09/11/2023 15:16

I did once defrost cheese sauce thinking it was custard, luckily I checked before actually using!
I hope your hubby enjoys his surprise.

TheDandyLion · 09/11/2023 15:18

Celariac rissotto

HideousKinky · 09/11/2023 15:19

I always label freezer stuff and DH doesn't.
Once he removed something to be defrosted for dinner which looked a bit odd and when I asked him what it was he confidently said "fish".
Fast forward to dinner, and we're eating something that isn't fish.
"What happened to the fish?" I asked.
Turns out it was turkey stock

Following for updates!

CharlotteBog · 09/11/2023 15:32

Get it in the microwave or use a hair drier if need be, OP!

RayofSunshine18 · 09/11/2023 15:36

The suspense is killing me!

TheTempest · 09/11/2023 15:37

2 months and we still don’t know what it is- come on OP 😂

DuploTrain · 09/11/2023 15:38

Well this is exciting. Are you sure you still can’t upload a photo?

QOD · 09/11/2023 15:38

oooooooooooooooh waiting with baited breath!

I would never do something like this... I prefer to just freeze leftovers in said chinese takeaway tubs but I don't NEED to label mine because I know exactly what they are ... for the amount of time it takes to freeze

I made spaghetti bolognaise with homemade tomato sauce recently ... turned out to be mashed swede and carrot ...

Maddy70 · 09/11/2023 15:41

Curry and rice

Oh good spot! I guess we'll never know 😢

PumpkinsAndCoconuts · 09/11/2023 15:41

Place marking!! 😁😁

summerlovingvibes · 09/11/2023 15:41

Good luck 😂😂

Xiaoxiong · 09/11/2023 15:42

I never label anything for the freezer and every time I defrost a mystery box of brown, I regret not labelling. But do I learn...no, I do not.

I suspect I do it just to maintain a sense of danger so lacking in modern life. It's my version of bungee jumping.

DuploTrain · 09/11/2023 15:43

I’ve had an unfortunate mix up between excess buttercream and cheese sauce before.

We used to wrap hot cross buns in foil and freeze them. I’d pop one into my lunchbox and it would keep the rest of the food cold on a summers day.

Once while sitting in traffic between appointments I unwrapped one and ended up biting into a semi defrosted raw garlic chicken kiev.

So my advice would be tread carefully OP!

Frozen hot cross bun to keep lunchbox cool

Genius. Then you can pop it in the toaster if it is not fully defrosted.

Sweetpeasaremadeforbees · 09/11/2023 15:47

Oh good spot! I guess we'll never know

The OP has posted today, though the food is 2 months older so goodness knows what it'll taste like!

JustFrustrated · 09/11/2023 15:49

Okay I'm curious now.
