Discontinued food you miss

Or just can't get for whatever reason.

Currently really fancying the ww chicken & wedges, it was in a nice tomato sauce but I also really miss the slimming world tomato and bean soup that came in a pouch.

I realise these are both diet foods and tomato based, maybe I should just go and make a tomato salad 😂

Do you mean like dairylea?

Yes can you still get them?

FutureThroughLensOfThePast · 20/08/2023 12:08

HalloumiHo · 20/08/2023 12:05

These! Not in UK anymore so not sure if discontinued but I'd sell my soul for 10 packets of these bad boys

Salt and vinegar still around in UK. Ready salted were discontinued.

Topic - legendary chocolate bar. 😞

I could take or leave most chocolate bars but loved Topic. The bars got smaller and smaller, though.

Those awful Vesta dried Chinese meals - bear with me on this - the meals were pants, but they came with the most delicious crispy fried noodles! How I miss those.

Is that Chow Mein you're talking about? I think you can still get it.

I'm a fan of those meals too - the Paella is still around on Amazon. The Beef Risotto is the best though imo. Can't get it anywhere.

LadySlipper · 20/08/2023 12:10

Chocolate rich tea biscuits. And another one here yearning for Branigans roast beef and mustard crisps. sigh

Ah no didn't know Topic had gone

freesolo76 · 20/08/2023 12:12

@WutheredOut have you tried the coconut knoppers in Aldi? Might be a good substitute

Do you mean like dairylea?

If she does and Dairylea have been discontinued then Laughing Cow is just as good. I know that because I bought some yesterday in a bumper pack.

WinterNightStars · 20/08/2023 12:14

Texan bar
Spangles
Pacers

Haretest · 20/08/2023 12:14

Yes @Inkanta you can still get them, and laughing cow ones

Merapi · 20/08/2023 12:21

Phileas Fogg"s Mignon Morceaux. There have been some who have tried, but nothing since has properly replicated them.

I came on here to say that. Waitrose did a very good dupe, but it's been discontinued, too.

ooh and mint cracknell, dangerous slices of minty sugar that cracked on biting and you were in danger of piercing your mouth.

You can still get the equivalent of Mint Cracknell in South Africa. It's called Peppermint Crisp there. You can find it in South African shops in the UK (there used to be one in London Bridge station but it's been over 14 years since I went through there).

We're off to South Africa next month and I'll be bringing back a supply Grin

ElEmEnOhPee · 20/08/2023 12:24

Birds Eye Steam Fresh Tomato and Basil Chicken with Penne Pasta, I lived on that for a while but they discontinued it years ago.

wendywoopywoo222 · 20/08/2023 12:24

Nutty bars. I loved them

MariaVT65 · 20/08/2023 12:27

Mint Feast ice cream!

Agree with a PP - McVities Abbey Crunch biscuits.

Plunko · 20/08/2023 12:31

Heinz celery soup

Fabellini · 20/08/2023 12:34

M&S did a stroganoff ready meal that I absolutely loved - there was a turkey version, and a beef version. Not at the same time, one kind then the other, but I can’t remember which order.
when dh and I were first going out - I used to go for dinner at his parents on a Friday evening and mil would regularly buy that for us…was the highlight of my week!
Tesco do one in their finest range, but it’s not the same at all.

Pacers - green and white striped minty chews like opal fruits .
Ok Oat crunchies cereal
Start cereal

clarepetal · 20/08/2023 12:55

In the 90s my mum used to buy me dried pasta that you add water and heat over the stove. I know you can get those now, but the one I'm thinking of was called Romana. It was a creamy tomatoy- red pepper taste. It was the absolute bollocks.

MustBeThursday · 20/08/2023 13:08

Cadburys Marble, Astros and the dairy milk bar with shortcake biscuit bits in. And Echo bars!

Cheez ums Pringles - one of the early flavours. I found some cheese ones on holiday but they're not the same.

Morrisons beef and red wine ravioli

Greggs used to do these amazing deep cherry bakewells but I've not seen them for ages.

Agree with a PP - McVities Abbey Crunch biscuits.

Years ago - and I mean YEARS (like the 70s) there was a brand called Royal Scot. I fuelled a degree on those, Abbey Crunch (which left Hobnobs in the dust, IMO) and black coffee.
