Or just can't get for whatever reason.

Currently really fancying the ww chicken & wedges, it was in a nice tomato sauce but I also really miss the slimming world tomato and bean soup that came in a pouch.

I realise these are both diet foods and tomato based, maybe I should just go and make a tomato salad 😂

Ooh and there used to be an Old El Paso tortilla bake kit that was kind of like burrito lasagna. We loved it then it vanished and I've not been able replicate it since as it had this creamy sauce for the top.

Gino Ginelli tutti frutti ice cream..

Sara Lee Pecan Danish Pastry - it was available in the late 80s early 90s. It was the most amazing dessert.

M&S released their own version but neither has been seen since I was about 15/16 (1996).

Thisisjustmyface · 20/08/2023 13:25

@WildFeathers these are sometimes still available!!! I hate starburst but always stock up on proper opal fruits when I see them!

Athena51 · 20/08/2023 13:25

Some of my faves already mentioned on here:
Abbey Crunch biscuits (as @MrsDanversGlidesAgain says, left Hobnobs in the dust).
Lyons chocolate cup cakes remind me of my 70's childhood.
Cadbury's Boasters biscuits, especially chocolate chunk and hazelnut.
Heinz Cream of Celery soup
M&S have form for depriving me of my favourites - Pink Grapefruit Tinos (boiled sweets), baked potato flavour crisps, chicken tikka sandwich, Deltas.
Gino Ginelli ice cream, especially tutti frutti.

And the two things that I miss the most: Green and Black's cherry dark chocolate and their amazing cereal bars especially the dark chocolate and cherry ones - they were incredible and I still crave them.

@ageingdisgracefully unfortunately, they’ve changed the noodles, so no longer the greasy, crunchy, moreish snack I love. And they’re £3.00 a box. 😥

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 20/08/2023 13:30

Heinz Cream of Celery soup

We had an electric ring in the sixth form common room and I used to heat that up for lunch. Also the Heinz lentil, which is still around but has changed in taste a bit.

You can still get the equivalent of Mint Cracknell in South Africa. It's called Peppermint Crisp there. You can find it in South African shops in the UK (there used to be one in London Bridge station but it's been over 14 years since I went through there).

We're off to South Africa next month and I'll be bringing back a supply Grin

Oooh good to know

Mushroom and White Wine Pasta 'N' Sauce

Fecking lovely.

Apart from the time I was in a rush studying, didn't have any milk in and made it with watered down CoffeeMate... and didn't cook it properly. It felt like every molecule of fluid had been sucked out of me.

This too. Wish Bachelor's would bring this flavour back!

I miss Dalepak vegetable grills. They were in a cutlet shape and had rice and mushed up real veg. Lovely.

Also cheese moments crisps.

starfishmummy · 20/08/2023 13:45

Used to buy small jars of stir through creamy mushroom sauce - intended for pasta but Inused it as a base for many other dishes. Noticed it getting harder to find and then reduced so I stocked up before it disappeared. Then a few weeks later I went shopping and they had one tray of jars they'd obviously found somewhere and were selling at a very reduced price. I bought the whole lot!!

Yes I can make it myself but this was just a great shortcut.

We buy a gluten free enchilada kit that has a creamy sauce which might be worth a go?

MustBeThursday · 20/08/2023 14:24

@whiffyhouse ooh thank you! I'll give it a go!

Scampi and lemon niknaks they run them occasionally but I can't find them often

My local Spar sells them. In big packets! Yum 😋

Waitrose frozen vegan lasagne. I'm not vegan but it was my favourite lasagne.

sueelleker · 20/08/2023 14:55

Boasters cookies-the ones with chocolate chunks and hazelnuts. They were so buttery and crumbly. I've tried others, like Fox's, but they just don't compare.
JayAlfredPrufrock Have you tried Gentleman's Relish? That's made with anchovies.

In the 90s my mum used to buy me dried pasta that you add water and heat over the stove. I know you can get those now, but the one I'm thinking of was called Romana. It was a creamy tomatoy- red pepper taste. It was the absolute bollocks.

Tomato pasta Roma?

That was magnificent stuff. I'd have it on its own, or with any kind of potato or garlic bread. I was skinny in those days, in spite of the double carbing. If I they brought it back, I might melt away to nothing again. I'd certainly be willing to give it a shot.
