In the voice of Cpl Jones.

"Don't panic Capt Sunak"

"Hold your nerve"

"They don't like it up em".

We have a choice between extremely bad alternative outcomes

Rishi Sunak's spokesman declines to say whether or not the Prime Minister would vote for a motion suspending Chris Pincher from the House of Commons.

Will he even be bothered to read the report?

Adam Bienkov

MPs will on Monday debate the Privileges Committee report naming seven Conservative MPs for potentially holding Parliament in contempt over the Boris Johnson investigation.

Still no word from Rishi Sunak on whether he will read the report, or vote on any motion against them

I'm going to guess he's too busy to read either report or appear in Parliament. There must be a school or hospital that hasn't had a visit from a Minister yet. Preferably one that has a helipad.

DuncinToffee · 06/07/2023 12:59

Biden is visiting the UK so that will be the excuse

Despite the cost of living crisis and all the government lies I'm still holding my nerve. Will I be okay? I've been holding for a while now.

If one holds ones nerve for long enough, is one likely to do the nerve an injury?

Blossomtoes · 06/07/2023 14:24

I don’t know about holding my nerve, I feel like I’m being held hostage. Unfortunately for them there are still no signs of Stockholm Syndrome.

mibbelucieachwell · 06/07/2023 14:25

Hmmm. Loss of ability to contain oneself perhaps. Maybe some of the conservative mps held their nerves for too long? Some of them didn't seem able to contain their Johnson.

DuncinToffee · 06/07/2023 14:38

Ruling on Johnson's whatsapps messages is imminent

OP posts:

More imminent that I realised Grin

Cabinet Ofice loses legal challenge over Covid Inquiry

The Cabinet Office has lost its legal challenge over the UK Covid-19 inquiry chairwoman's request for Boris Johnson's unredacted WhatsApp messages, notebooks and diaries.

Popcorn time!

DuncinToffee · 06/07/2023 14:47

An expensive own goal for Sunak

OP posts:
mibbelucieachwell · 06/07/2023 14:47

Good.

It's a shame about the money they've wasted on the legal challenge though. I wonder if anyone has ever totted up the amount of taxpayers money they've wasted on lost court cases.

Blossomtoes · 06/07/2023 14:48

They just keep losing this week, it’s not going well for them. I guess next up is the seven MPs who dissed the Privileges Committee.

StormShadow · 06/07/2023 14:41

Popcorn time!

Wondering here how long until the contents are divulged.

Notonthestairs · 06/07/2023 14:56

Wasting taxpayers money again. They knew it would fail. God only knows what they are trying to cover up - presumably something which casts shade on Sunak.

They have an alternative option -
In a move that is separate from the judicial review process, the Government can apply for a Section 19 order, seeking to stop the publication of even some of the redacted documents that are being scrutinised by the inquiry team.
If the inquiry agrees to the order (and other inquiries from Leveson to the Post Office scandal have done so in the past), such documents cannot be shared with “core participants”, including the Covid Bereaved Families for Justice group. They would be used to “inform” the inquiry’s recommendations but wouldn’t be made public for years.

Honesty, transparency etc etc

Notonthestairs · 06/07/2023 16:42

Well it's certainly had a bit of a Streisand effect.

This sort of nonsense by judges, probably from Wales just show why we can't stop the boats. Who do they think they are?

Did you know Labour have been in power in the Welsh government for years?

JustAnotherRandom · 06/07/2023 17:55

Do you know how much it cost?

Notonthestairs · 06/07/2023 20:45

JustAnotherRandom · 06/07/2023 17:55

Do you know how much it cost?

Heaven knows. They will have used in-house counsel (I assume). It's still soaking up time, energy and money from other work.
It was only ever a delaying tactic.

tobee · 06/07/2023 20:48

Finally got around to pinning ds down to ask him about the twitter link difficulty and he tells me it's already sorted @Cornettoninja . Which you probably already know 😬

JustAnotherRandom · 06/07/2023 21:56

Thanks @Notonthestairs. Yeah, not the first time I've wondered how much resource is used on avoiding accountability and also the opportunity cost of that. Just wondered if an actual cost had been published somewhere. There's seemingly always time, money and appetite to avoid accountability, multiplied by zillions since 2019.

Blossomtoes · 06/07/2023 23:13

Wow, Tory HQ is out in force tonight. Fuck knows what the run up to the election’s going to be like.

TooBigForMyBoots · 07/07/2023 01:33

It's been a bad News Day for them so they're all a bit tetchy.
