I’ve just listened to The Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile and 11.22.63. Loved them all!

What next please?

Thanks!

My favourites are duma key and needful things . I read them over and over again. Most of his books are fab though if you enjoy his writing style

TrickOrRuddyTreat · 21/06/2023 13:05

IT is pretty much my favourite book of all time but I'd also echo the recommendations for Needful Things, The Shining, Desperation, Delores Claiborne, Insomnia and Bag of Bones.

I also agree with PPs who were disappointed with Under the Dome, wanted to love it and it's a clever premise but the ending is total and utter horseshit.

The stand! Love it.
Salems lot
IT
The Running man

The Stand

Oh where to start! I see you've read 11.22.63! I put off reading it and what a mistake, it was amazing from start to finish. I was so sad it ended. Don't do what I did and buy the series. It made me irrationally angry.

I recently read fairytale and loved that too.

Like other PP's, his short stories are wonderful. I love everything's eventual, from a buick 8, just after sunset (contains one story that properly creeped me out) and the one that started it all - night shift.

The girl who loved Tom Gordon is a great read as is rose madder, duma key, the shining, cell... oh and Billy summers was amazing.

It's probably easier to say the books I couldn't get on board with, but you could just pick one at random and go with it. I'm looking through his bibliography and there's loads I haven't read! Must get on it...

TheCrocodileBird · 21/06/2023 14:32

Rose Madder is my favourite book of his.

Dalekjastninerels · 21/06/2023 14:43

This is a tricky question; they are all amazing. However I would say It, The Toomyknockers and Night Shift and Skeleton Crew are some of my favourites.

His books make me see movies in my head when I read them Smile

MoserRothOrangeandAlmond · 21/06/2023 15:08

The Mr Mercedes books (there's 3 in total and can't remember the names off the the top of my head)

  • Carrie
  • IT
  • The Shining
-The Stand -Misery
  • Dead Zone
-Billy Summers -Cujo -If it bleeds -The Outsider

There's a few more that I'm trying to remember, he is my favourite author

MoserRothOrangeandAlmond · 21/06/2023 15:08

Duma Key is one of my all time favourite books ever, I also love The Stand and IT, Billy Summers and Joyland and the Mr Mercedes trilogy are great too.

Oh, agree, Duma Key!

I've only read it once and I don't remember all that much about it but was absolutely transported when reading it.

Also love love love IT (and the 90s tv adaption) and The Stand.

Christine, Delores Clairborne, Pet Sematary...all great. There's lots more I love but struggling to remember that gf the top of my head.

ohdelay · 21/06/2023 16:19

The long walk and the stand

The Long Walk! Absolutely haunting, but deeply human and one of my favourite books by King
