Why is it so cold?

Anyone wondering this? The weather forecast keeps saying 20/21 degrees, but I’m freezing! It’s windy and cold. I’m in bed now with my electric blanket on, a duvet, fleece blanket and hot water bottle.

I think I’ve felt warmer when it’s been 11 degrees. It’s so windy. I feel like the weather forecast is gaslighting us!

I don’t like this fake summer. When is it actually going to get warm??

I’ve just been out in the garden in a T-shirt. It’s been lovely here for days,(South Wales). There was a cold wind for about 10 minutes at lunchtime.

RampantIvy · 03/06/2023 06:42

Apart from last Saturday South Yorkshire has been cold.

Rabbitcar · 03/06/2023 06:55

So today is going to be 22 apparently. Not sure I believe it though. I ironed my summer dresses last weekend - not been able to wear them yet.

I planted lots of seeds last weekend but quite superficially (the instructions said they should be lightly pressed into the soil). I’m wondering whether they’ve all been blown away. 😬

Anyway, will try to stop whingeing. At least it’s not raining, I suppose.

Sounds like my family in my home town in the NW will be warm anyway unlike us in chilly London 🙄. Hope you all have a nice day wherever you are!

Blue skies and sunshine for the past fortnight here in Cumbria and it's only going to get warmer.

It's been 18-21 degrees everyday recently, a gentle breeze and no clouds to be seen.

Yetisrus · 03/06/2023 07:13

I agree its been cold, I want to get out of my jeans and wear shorts but it's just too bloody cold. The northerly wind isn't helping.

CurlewKate · 03/06/2023 07:21

So cold here in Kent.😢

Bubbles254 · 03/06/2023 07:22

In the SE here. Jumper and light coat weather in the mornings then about 11am starts to warm up as clouds dissipate. By 1pm summer weather and need to change in short dress and sandals. It has been like this everyday this week.

SaturdayGiraffe · 03/06/2023 07:34

Every weather app tells me I should be warm but I’m cold until 4pm.
Gone on for over a week.
I’ve found one site that gets it right:

We are in Northamptonshire so not by the coast and it's chilly, I have had to have the heating on in the evening and still use my electric blanket. Luckily it has been quite drying in the breeze for my washing but it feels more like March/April than early June. It was quite warm in the sun yesterday afternoon but I still needed my cardigan, today does look like it is going to be a bit warmer though.

I was in Cambridge sun-tues, in shorts on Sunday and Monday.

In shorts!? I live near Cambridge was shopping in the city on monday, it was bloody freezing!

User1328745 · 03/06/2023 07:40

Though if you are going to southern Europe hoping for some sun it does look a bit rainy

User1328745 · 03/06/2023 07:42

DH's shorts came out for a couple of days, he is back in his jeans now, I'm still wearing the same as I did in March

DinosApple · 03/06/2023 07:44

Yep, it's cold and cloudy this morning in our bit of East Anglia. And it's been cloudy and chilly for the last week.

We're heading to the seaside today where Google tells me it is at least sunny, but 13 degrees. With a breeze. We're wrapping up!

User1328745 · 03/06/2023 07:48

I can see a situation where if you go to the coast, having to wear scarf, coat and gloves but factor 50 on the face because of the high UV.

Im also in London and I've retired my duvet for the summer because it's too warm at night, and I was out yesterday in just a t-shirt. The breeze is cool when it blows but people on here are going on like it's an arctic gale - it's nothing of the sort!

Kwackerly · 03/06/2023 08:14

It's bitter bloody cold in the wind, lovely out of it. Agree it doesn't feel like summer really. I saw a woman in a furry coat coming home from the pub last night and envied her, was icy in my hoodie. The sun is hot enough to sunburn though so imo worst of all worlds 😖

IfYouDontLikeTheAnswerDontAskTheQuestion · 03/06/2023 08:15

It was warm here (Nottingham) all day Friday. I wore a nightie and only had a fleece blanket on at night, with the window open all night Grin

LadyRoughDiamond · 03/06/2023 08:35

Yep, I’ve been shivering in east Anglia this week. Bloody weather - it’s miserable!

Because we don't all live in London.
I'm in London this weekend. Yesterday was fine. It is chilly right now.

Gymmum82 · 03/06/2023 08:54

Scorching in NW. Been outside in shorts all week. Was 24 degrees yesterday. Friend in Cambridge said it’s cold. Head north for the weather

Bluevelvetsofa · 03/06/2023 08:55

South coast, in what is supposed to be a micro climate and sunnier than elsewhere. Sodding wind has put paid to that for weeks. Too chilly to walk by the sea without being blown into it ( which you definitely wouldn’t want 🤮)

JustDanceAddict · 03/06/2023 09:00

It’s warm in the sun but the air temp is still about 15/16 so with wind it feels cold. If you’re in a sheltered spot it’s nice & good to not be too warm at night yet as I like a cool bedroom.

whenindoubtgotothelibrary · 03/06/2023 09:01

Yes, for several weeks it’s been grey and cold for most of the day in my bit of London, with a NE wind. A few glimpses of warmth and sunshine (last Sunday for example) but overall just…chilly. The prevailing wind in London is normally warmish and westerly, which is why it feels so unseasonally cold. Hating it and feeling cheated of a summer so far - the winter seems endless.

Girliefriendlikespuppies · 03/06/2023 09:05

I'm in the south west and it's been gorgeous weather here, really warm so I can't relate 😂

I am as always grateful for living in the south west, I swear it's always warmer than the rest of the country.
