Why is it so cold?

Anyone wondering this? The weather forecast keeps saying 20/21 degrees, but I’m freezing! It’s windy and cold. I’m in bed now with my electric blanket on, a duvet, fleece blanket and hot water bottle.

I think I’ve felt warmer when it’s been 11 degrees. It’s so windy. I feel like the weather forecast is gaslighting us!

I don’t like this fake summer. When is it actually going to get warm??

We’ve had NNE winds for weeks now on the east coast and it’s cold enough to have the heating on, which I’m not doing as the bill is already £200 a month with no heating since April 1st. Something to do with the Jet Stream being stuck and pushing the cold winds down on us.
I’m so sick of being cold.

It’s just weird, isn’t it? I think it is the wind.

I’d understand if it said 12 degrees and was cold, but I don’t understand how it can be 20.

We’re in London but DD in Cambridge says it’s the same there.

I was in Cambridge sun-tues, in shorts on Sunday and Monday.

Oh yes I’ve seen @OhYouBadBadKitten post before. Any explanations welcome!

It's been cold in the midlands all week. I had to put my heated fleece on at one point in the evening a few days ago. Today it has been warm outside but cold breeze again this evening.

FunnysInLaJardin · 02/06/2023 23:20

We are in Jersey and the wind has been horrid and cold for weeks. Everyone is mentioning it.

Temp is 18 but it feels much colder !

ErrolTheDragon · 02/06/2023 23:20

I'm back in sunny, dry lancashire now. My bedroom is a shade too warm (21.5°c, I much prefer it cooler at night).

OoohLaLaLa · 02/06/2023 23:22

Glorious here in the west. Makes a change it’s usually us shivering in the rain while the the east of the country basks in sunshine!

LuluBlakey1 · 02/06/2023 23:23

Welive on the north-east coast and , apart from 1 day when it was cool but not cold enough to have the garden doors shut or need the heating on, it has been warm for about a fortnight now. Today was lovely.

My house was really cold today. It was beautiful outside in the sun but we had to turn the heating on for a little while. We could have put on warmer jumpers but our parrot was cold and angry about it 🤦🏻‍♀️

I need to know how a cold angry parrot behaves now 😂

OnMyWayToSenility · 02/06/2023 23:29

I've just driven back from the NE to London and it was quite warm up there! Thought it would've been a heat wave down here 🤣 although it was really cold at night

Sunnysunbun · 02/06/2023 23:30

Next weekend they’re predicting 28. There are some great meteorologists on Twitter - amateur ones - who make good predictions.

Sun all the way here in Edinburgh. No cold winds (despite being beside North Sea), just blissful weather. Set to continue into next week.

Lovely sunny day, but definitely on the cool side, which I rather like.

Thatnameistaken · 02/06/2023 23:32

It's set to get down to 3c overnight here in the north Pennines, there's a steady easterly breeze which won't be helping

TheNine · 02/06/2023 23:38

East wind. It’s a cunt.

SkankingWombat · 02/06/2023 23:39

Not just you OP. Yesterday morning DH got up and woke me grumpily complaining that the radiators were on and why had I turned the heating back on. It turns out we had turned the thermostat down to 8 degrees some weeks ago but neither of us had remembered to turn it off completely. The radiators were hot because it had dropped below 8 degrees. Even my hot-running DD2 complained she was cold in the house today.

ChickenBurgers · 02/06/2023 23:39

I find 12pm-8pm pretty warm but anytime outside of this is soooo cold. It’s bizarre!! South East on the coast

mrsfollowill · 02/06/2023 23:41

I'm in Yorkshire and it has been 'chuffing freezing' here all week- was glorious last Saturday - 24C and I sat in the garden all day. Since then dry, windy and struggling to reach 11-12c in the day and around 3/4 overnight. Today we had sun for the first time this week but still a cold wind and now I'm back in my fleecy dressing gown- Fed up of it but forecast is good for tomorrow so I live in hope! Relatives in North West are sunburned after the week they have had.

tillyandmilly · 02/06/2023 23:43

Perfect weather - 20 degrees long may it continue for the rest of the summer !

CosmosQueen · 02/06/2023 23:45

I’m in Wiltshire and there’s a cutting wind here that’s really unpleasant even when the sun’s out. I actually lit the wood burner a couple of days ago because I couldn’t get warm.
No sign of the wind direction changing so we’re stuck with it I guess 😵‍💫

ThePoshUns · 02/06/2023 23:46

Fluffy socks and winter duvet here

I'm north of you, on the Angus coast and it's been lovely here. I sat out in the garden until after 10pm and that's when it felt chilly to sit out. I still have the windows open now I'm inside though.

Hmmmbetterchangethis · 02/06/2023 23:50

It’s like early spring here in the midlands. Never really getting properly warm and yes, the wind is freezing!

I’m needing a long sleeved top and a coat to walk the dogs in the morning.

Like a PP I tried to sit in the garden today but gave up and came in. It clouds over and then the wind howls around you!

This is the first time in years I’ve had a garden I can sit in directly from the house and I’m not getting the use of it 😞

Gtsr443 · 02/06/2023 23:51

Im in shorts and a jumper

Standard British summer attire. 😁
I'm freezing but I've had my legs waxed....

IHateLegDay · 02/06/2023 23:51

This was me last night! I had 3 blankets on my and couldn't stop shivering.
