I would just use my actual name I think

Oh I think this is the wrong thread, someone was asking as a step grandmother, and in that case, I think first name is a good choice.

VeridicalVagabond · 04/10/2023 22:46

My mum is Gran to my daughter, MIL is Momo.

NamelessNancy · 04/10/2023 22:49

When little my kids called both grandmothers Grandma but if they needed to differentiate added the name of their dogs, eg Grandma Toby and Grandma Fluffy (not the actual dogs in question!).

I'm Granny.
Initially I wanted to be called something, well, less Grannyish!
But, then I realised it wasn't about me...
My daughter loves HER Granny (my Mum) so naturally I became Granny. (And my poor Mum has accidentally become 'Old Granny')

It was good enough for the Queen so ... :)

My Mum is Nan, my Nan (daughters great Nan) was Nanny Sylv. My Dad us Grandad and my Grandad (her great Grandad) is just old Grandad. Which he never minded 😂

We let our grandson decide what he wanted to calls us. He calls my husband by his first name and for some reason I am Ama. :)

AuntieMarys · 05/10/2023 06:38

I'm a stepgrandmother and I'm just known by my first name.

We had a Big Gran (5foot 11) and a little gran (5 ft nothing) in the 80s.

My kids had a Gran and supposedly a Grandma but mispronounced as RaRa by the first child and it stuck. Two grandads - grandad surname (married to RaRa) and grandad firstname (gran's exhusband)

I had Nan for my GM and Nanpa for my GF.

DH had a very strict 'Grandmother' and 'Grandfather'. He did not even know their actual first names until they died and it was in the funeral service!

My DS had a Grandad and a Grandma and a Great Nanna and a Great Grandad and they all chose what they wanted to be called.

I'd like to be Mama. But I bet I get called the nickname that my DS uses for me! Betcha!

This is outing to anyone who
Knows me in RL but too cute not to share.

My 3 year old has started referring to my Mum as "normal Grandma" and my Mum's Mum as "Great Grandma". My Grandma (Mum's mum) has been Great Grandma for years, but I love how my little one felt the need to put the extra qualifier in for my mum. My poor Grandma always replies "but I am normal too" Grin

WeightoftheWorld · 05/10/2023 12:58

My DC have a 'nana'. They also have a 'nanny Name', and a 'grandma', latter two are both great grandmothers.

Lottiesnanny · 24/01/2024 18:26

Nan to the grandchildren GG to the great grandchildren

ChaoticBag · 25/01/2024 09:22

My mum insisted that she was going to be called Grandmother as she didn't like any of the options 😂
When the kids were older we referred to her as GM which is actually quite cool (and cute)!
Grandmother was too much of a mouthful when they were little but it stuck and they grew up calling her that! 😂

Stellastag · 25/01/2024 18:47
