Just seen on Instagram that PS is stepping down with immediate effect from This morning!
I mean, I'm not that bothered but there's been lots of speculation recently re his brother's conviction and the rumoured spat with Holly but I thought it would probably all blow over.
I'm sure he's got a bob or two is loaded but I'm still a bit surprised if I'm honest.

I don't think she needs to go, even if she knew, but if everyone is going to pile in on her, they need to treat Alison, Rylan, Eamonn and Ruth just the same.

Ruth tried to get something done about it and was sacked.

Well as someone who loved Philip Schofield when he was on the BBC with Gordon the Gopher I feel cheated/let down. I have fond memories of singing the Cities of Gold theme tune, etc. I haven't seen much at all of him presenting TM and only bits of other stuff. It's a disappointment when someone turns out not to be who you think they are.

There have been rumours around Schofield since the mid 90s that I'm aware of. I dismissed them and now it turns out they were true.

@bladebladebla1 I have great friends but I know sometimes they lie about their children to make them sound better. I go along with it because I don't want to hurt their feelings but I can see what's what. According to Dan Wootton the runner was being taken back and forth in limos. Surely if nothing else came out, that would ring bells. And Dan Wootton got sacked let go of because of limiting what he could say. Is it likely he kept that to himself? He was the correspondent for gossip. Nothing he likes more.

Despite the image she cultivates, Holly Willoughby isn't an airhead. She hasn't succeeded in the,way she has because she's just lucky. She knows what's what, who's who and where it's all buried.

No she's succeeded thanks to her tv producer hubbie.

purpleme12 · 27/05/2023 21:52

Spitting Image just did that skit because there was so much gossip around it.
It was Jason Donovan in the sketch as well and he's not actually gay. There was again just lots of people claiming he was.

Do you have any proof of that?

SinnerBoy · 27/05/2023 22:35

All these colleagues of Schofield - Eamonn Holmes, Holly Willoughby, Wooten etc, who knew all along - why didn't they act years ago?

dizzy9 · 27/05/2023 22:42

Interesting article, maybe another young man: https://www.kentonline.co.uk/medway/news/this-morning-presenters-help-gay-autistic-student-133816/

To defend HW a bit, it's very difficult to do something or object to certain behaviour when it's an open secret and none of the bosses seem to care. PS has seen off a lot of women co presenters who are far more experienced and talented than she. I can see she might have been between a rock and a hard place - she wanted to advance her career (no criticism there) and doing so meant keeping PS on side. He had a lot of support seemingly from itv bosses.

Otoh, she was his friend, and that friendship was a big part of their brand. She wasn't just a colleague. It was her choice to go on holidays with him and socialise outside of work, so it's hard to argue that she saw no wrongdoing.

But I don't think she should lose her job unless all the itv bosses who had a hand in this, lose theirs. I'd like to know more about how this was investigated because asking PS snd the runner if it's true and then accepting their denial isn't an investigation.

It's hard to forgive H for the whole coming out interview - they (and everyone who discussed it on tv while knowing the truth about PS sexuality) gaslit the public. No one apart from the great Joan Collins, had the balls to say this is not brave, they've all known for years.

Aquarius1234 · 27/05/2023 23:25

PS too insecure to date a man in his late 30s / 40s let alone 50s 60s.
Sick twisted.

Nofixedabodewell · 28/05/2023 00:13

Surely his wife must have known too?

Something sinister about his wife.

purpleme12 · 28/05/2023 00:51

His wife always used to appear on the Christmas present programme be did... Until he announced he was gay. After that it was always just him doing it.

TheBucketWoman · 28/05/2023 08:28

She did. Her job was to cover up what was going on. She didn’t care as long as the money was rolling in. That’s why so many alarm bells went off when he came out. Everyone knew he was gay and the set up they had as a couple.

I'd say less insecure, more a boost to his ego to be considered attractive by someone half his age (actually, not far off a third of his age).

Yes I agree with all this.

Mistressofnone · 28/05/2023 08:51

It should really have been blindly obvious to everyone at the time. There is footage of the young man featuring on the TM sofa, being very friendly with the hosts. As a former runner at ITV this would have been very unusual behaviour. If the celebs were in a good enough mood to say hello it was very fleeting and they were usually too busy being schmoozed by the higher level production staff. Runners were not treated particularly well. In fact many had to wear a special T-shirt to show they were mere runners (ie. don't bother holding the door open for me.. shout at me if you like..). It's all very strange.

Lemieux3 · 28/05/2023 08:55

Even in the interview between PS and MM, you can see the body language suggests two people who have been intimate imo. For me it's comparable with dates I've been on when there was an obvious attraction.,

I don't think Ruth complained about Schofield and the runner

The articles I read about Ruth's complaint suggested she complained about Schofield being rude to her. Cutting her off on air or something

Toomuchtrouble4me · 28/05/2023 09:37

Does anybody know for sure that he what his brother was up to? I have no idea who my single brother is having sex with.
if he DIDN’T know, then he’s been sacked for having an affair with a consenting adult? Would he have been sacked if the consenting adult had been female? I doubt it.
but I do accept that I’m not aware of all the facts, not a fan, it just seems odd.
two consenting adults had sex, so he was married, he wouldn’t be sacked for an affair. Just not clear what the sackable offence was here.

Grooming and unprofessional behaviour?

Lemieux3 · 28/05/2023 09:47

Tbh I don't think this was ever about his brother - that was used as a smoke screen.

FakeAndFab · 28/05/2023 12:42

At 0.27s into the video, the teenage boy says to PS " I wonder where we'll be in three years" and Schofield responds "well, if I'm still getting away with it, I'll be a happy man". Hmm

That’s so so weird! What was it in reference to?
