Just seen on Instagram that PS is stepping down with immediate effect from This morning!
I mean, I'm not that bothered but there's been lots of speculation recently re his brother's conviction and the rumoured spat with Holly but I thought it would probably all blow over.
I'm sure he's got a bob or two is loaded but I'm still a bit surprised if I'm honest.

@MalibuPine I am nothing to do with Mermaids, Owen Jones, the SNP, or anything else you're throwing around. This thread is about PS, and the sub-conversation was about cultural and corporate homophobia in the 1990s. Why are you bringing culture wars, Foucault, cults, David Cameron, trans stuff, etc etc into it? Maybe start your own thread about all that? You're not winning anyone over on here to whatever your angle is.

How is holly going to interview people who have been groomed for eg for a segment on TM or i didnt know my husband groomed a young neighbour etc etc. she is now limited

. v telling neither was at the coronation after queue gate.
She can try all she wants but its going to be tough to be palatable to ordinary joe public.
Ant nearly killed a family while under the influence- got fined- banned from driving and has drink/ drug demons like so many ordinary folk have. His "crime" is worlds away from SA and protecting a convicted abuser

This thread is totally derailed but now back to schofield and HW.

Maybe philip knew the runner innocently and got him a job on the show. maybe there was a falling out and he moved to LW.
Then his brothers crime ( nothing to do with PS) that court case date was months coming im sure .Then ps admits under oath he knew his Brother had had a relationship with a 16yr old ( all totally legal) But that association ( trial by public opinion) plus his connection with an employee he might have innocently met at age 10 is just too unpalateable to audiences.
Im after seeing a photo of phil and holly in the sea looking like they are on a carribbean island in wet t shirts him with i ❤ Hw and her with I ❤ PS
What an image- try distancing from that Holly.
Like she might not have known his past neeting with the runner at age 10 its all very seedy looking and she comes across desperate now to hold on to her image.
No invite to the coronation must have been hard to swallow esp when ant and dec were there.was that the final nail for Holly ....

Just thinking there if my partner was sporting a t shirt which says he ❤ a colleague id be miffed but its the brand. Dan baldwin must be super powerful ..in a lot of companies you arent allowed to date colleagues or if you do.one of you has to leave

I'd be absolutely amazed if Schofield's wife didn't know he was gay from the start. I was an extra on Byker Grove several times and the producer told us about him and Andi Peters.

When she wasn't doing BG, she was down in London, working on news programmes and whilst they all knew, they were sworn to secrecy.

In 1992, gay men would have been slaughtered for having the temerity to be involved with children's television, if it were out in the open.

That is so sad. I am the same age as PS and when I was young thought I was living in enlightened times. You would sometimes see male lovers holding hands in the street etc. It feels odd that my era is now considered so backward when we didn't necessarily see it that way - but I suppose it depends what circles you move in. We think we're living in a progressive world now, but in 30 years they'll look back on our time and say that WE were backward.

Christopher Biggins had a children's television show for years in the 1980's and there were hermits in the Andes who knew he was gay.

Having said that, I, too, was told that Phillip Schofield was gay in the mid-90's (by two separate male models from London). People knew, but I'm not so sure his wife knew. I do think it was a different prospect for some like Schofield to come out back then because his career was based on being some kind of boy-next-door pin-up. It's a bit like it being fine for character actors and comedy actors to come out as gay, but if you look like Rock Hudson then it will tank your career. (Not that Schofield looks anything like Rock Hudson!) Of course, once you've started the lie, it snowballs and it becomes a much, much bigger deal to come out with the truth.

Same, my DB's best friend was a model at that time and we were gushing because he'd met PS as he was in that scene at the time. He told us he was gay back then. His wife must have known!

As for HW, I think the only thing to save her will be if she sells some kind of sob story or she goes off for a few years and comes back reinventing here. I don't hate HW. I think she's probably pretty ok away from PS.
