On the back of the "How many homes have you lived in?" thread...

What's the longest you've lived in one home?

For me it's my childhood home, lived there birth to 19

I'm 49, I've lived in my current house for 14 years. Up to the age of 35 the longest I'd ever lived in any one house, my own or my parents, was 5 years.

cadburyegg · 16/05/2023 22:33

Childhood home, 18 years, from ages 1-19 although I did go back a few times. My mum sold up last year after over 30 years living there!

Chenford · 16/05/2023 22:34

This one. 5 years. I’m 46.

longstayer · 16/05/2023 22:34

This house has only ever been the home of the Longstayer family. Mr Longstayer has spent almost 50 years here!

mondaytosunday · 16/05/2023 22:34

8 years. I'm 61.

plugin12 · 16/05/2023 22:35

Currently about to come up to 6 years in my current home and this will be the longest , our house is now under offer so will see how long I last at the next one!

jmh740 · 16/05/2023 22:36

shiningstar2 · 16/05/2023 22:37

neverwantedthis22 · 16/05/2023 22:53

I left childhood home at 18 and 3 months. I've been in this house for 17 yrs and 6 months. Can't believe it'll soon be longer than my childhood home.

MrsBlac · 16/05/2023 23:14

My lovely house which I live in now which is 16 years. It’s our forever home.

dikwad · 17/05/2023 06:16

Home one - birth to 16 years = 16

Home two - 16 years to 21 years = 5 years

Current home - 21 years to now = 18 years

PuttingDownRoots · 17/05/2023 06:19

Childhood home for 18 years.

As an adult... 2 years, 1 month and counting.

StopStartStop · 17/05/2023 06:21

Current home. 26 years.

JorisBonson · 17/05/2023 06:22

Current house, 4 years.

I'm a pad brat with permanently itchy feet, this this is my 31st house (but I bought it so I can't just move 🤣)

Childhood home for 18 years.

This is my 13th home as an adult. All between 1-2years. 3 different countries

Plan to be here 8 more years at least, then decide on next move when youngest leaves school

DoesItHaveKosovo · 17/05/2023 06:23

13 years with my parents - we moved when I was 5 and I lived there until I moved out at 18.

Been in my current home for almost as long, which seems strange to me! Time passes so differently as you get older. I feel like I’ve been here for ten minutes!

I haven't heard that phrase in a long while now 😁 my kids were pad brats .

Dryfield · 17/05/2023 06:26

Current one, 25 years. I'd love a bungalow one day, but otherewise we'll stay put.

sashh · 17/05/2023 06:34

20+ years where I am now.

Before that 11 years.

PermanentTemporary · 17/05/2023 06:45

This one. Moved in with dh when I was pregnant, and ds is 19 now. I'm moving next month and will be a few weeks shy of 20 years here. I'm actually upsizing, and though it'll be a wrench leaving this house, I'm so looking forward to a bit more space. And cupboards.

DazzleMaRazzle · 17/05/2023 06:48

42 years on and off.
We bought it 42 years ago, but my husband was in the forces so I used to accompany him on his postings abroad.
I've lived in it consistently though for the last 19 years.

Lemonademoney · 17/05/2023 06:51

12 years in our previous house. We only moved to current home two years ago and love it so hoping we won’t move again for a long time (couldn’t afford to anyway 🤪)

TeddyBeans · 17/05/2023 06:51

My parents home - birth to 21, moved out with a bf for 6 months then moved back, lived there for another 4 years, moved out for a year at uni, decided I didn't like it, moved back home and stayed there until 2019. Have been in 3 different flats since. Would have moved back home to get myself back on my feet after ex left but there wasn't space for me and my son.

So in total I've lived at my parents house for 27.5 years roughly. It'll be hard to top that!

AceofPentacles · 17/05/2023 06:52

4 years (then got evicted)
Including childhood. We moved a lot
I've moved house 48 times

ellaballoo · 17/05/2023 06:55

39 years.
I have lived here since I was 12.
Got itchy feet during lockdown, but we are still here !
