Jack Monroe and the missing money.

Anyone been following this madness? A thread popped up on my feed today about how JM asked for people to PayPal her cash donations last year to take 3 people to court for slander and libel. It’s now passed the date of when she was able to bring this to court and no sign of any money being returned.

Just seems completely bizarre to me, and now I’ve fallen down a rabbit hole and seems this is in no way the first time.

I watched it all unfold live that day. It was hilarious how cocksure she was.

When in actual fact, she had nothing. Apart from some free money.

She’s been doing similar for years so it’s not very surprising. Just glad to see it finally getting out in the open a bit more as it’s enraging to see such theft and fraud without consequence for so long.

I read a Guardian article/interview with her about this, she was quite brazen about saying it was basically a bad time for her and she was a bit sorry but really, back to her. It didn’t warm me to her.

I fell for a JM ‘woe is me’ tweet early last year and ended up subscribing to her Patreon as a way of helping her out.
Revelations soon afterwards about her lifestyle made me realise I could well have been played and I cancelled the renewal.
My money is best spent on my own kith and kin who are really having hard times. It’s a shame as she could really do some good if she wasn’t so self-centred.

In my opinion She’s a lying grifter, stealing from those she pretends to advocate for. She is not poor, if you read her tweets etc she contradicts herself left right and centre and when she gets called out plays the MH/ADHD card, all I believe self certified! Her last ‘book’ was awful, and dangerous and even the Trussell Trust gave a warning. She threatened to sue Lee and crew, raised money didn’t sue, has not given the money back. Likewise her Patreon is a scam in my opinion. She freely admitted in that Guardian interview she has spent all the money raised on herself

as soon as she is called out she sends in her flying monkeys, then leaves Twitter with a cryptic message leaving the FM ‘concerned’ about her, a few days later up she pops.,

i have never trusted or liked her since she first came on the scene, I thought then she was a manipulative liar. It’s nice to be proved right

wtaf does that even mean? That she's a woman?

Her GP refused to refer her for transitioning. She moaned about it at the time on twitter.
She clearly has identity issues.
I'd say she has other mental health issues too. Someone should protect her from making a fool of herself online.

She pleads poverty but someone on Twitter posted a live link to her Patreon subscriber data a little while ago that showed she was making a minimum of £30k a year from those donations alone!

Yes, I wonder about this as well. She has had books published, and seems to have a good enough career. Why on earth would people who are not well off themselves send someone like her money?

From the Guardian article, it seems like the begging for money started about 2015.

I remember her crying about how skint she was in 2020 during the pandemic as her main income ( festivals) was removed, no doubt loads donated then too. Then in 2021 she suddenly has enough money saved to go to private rehab for several weeks.

Then in 2022 she wrote Hunger Hurts 2 to tell us that 10 years on poverty is grinding her bones to dust, she can't afford lightbulbs or shampoo and feeds herself and her child on £20 a week.
