I would not let them in!

5 years ago we had viewers to our house which was for sale. A retired couple arrived with a clip board held out in front of the man. They came in and were a nightmare. Opening my windows, wardrobes, kitchen draws, running taps, jumping up and down on my floor, taking photos, flushing toilets, and much much more! After 3 hours I had had enough and said we were going out so they would have to leave.
We never heard from them again but the owner of the house we eventually bought said she had had them view hers and they had stayed 6 hours doing the same things.

I later found out they are serial house viewers and do it as a "nice day out".
Anyway we are now moving again and low and behold who turns up at the door, only Mr and Mrs pain in the arse. I did not remember their name or I would have refused a viewing. Same as last time clip board and pen ready.

The moment I opened the door I recognized them.

I was so angry with these time wasters I just said "YOU AGAIN! FUCK OFF! and closed the door.
I feel better now.

Me and my bf go to showhomes and occasionally to an open house. Although we're not buying just out of interest. Obviously only when there is an open house so we don't contact anyone to give private viewing cause there is the estate agent doing the viewing and usually more people. It's good fun. But would never go through others stuff or stay longer than the polite 15min. So I can't really blame them for going around but for that long?!?!

I don’t believe that anyone would allow this gif 3 hours, let alone 6. Just don’t believe anybody would tolerate that. And why are they viewing alone and not with Estate agent? I call BS.

Well I don't know where you live but around here it is common for the owners to do their own viewing. You can believe what you like. It is all true. So annoying when I know, my friends know and the estate agent knows its true. Do you ever believe anything that is ever said to you?

This has made me laugh so much. They have probably done this 100s of times since they lost bothered you and will definitely be completely baffled. This makes it even more hilarious 😆

LakeTiticaca · 05/05/2023 12:08

There is a name for people who do this, carpet traders or something similar? Correct me if I'm wrong .
Although I would probably call them something far far worse 🤣

Entitled cunts. That's the phrase you're looking for.

Casperroonie · 06/05/2023 20:09

Normally I'd say what you said was rude but under the circumstances it was soooooo justified. Hopefully it will make them think twice, nutters 🤣🤣

Triker · 06/05/2023 20:15

Lol excellent 👌. I probably would have said that the first time they came tbh

Mollygoodgolly · 06/05/2023 20:23

Fancy objecting to telling these time wasters to fuck off! What a polite, prissy lot you are.

Aslanplustwo · 06/05/2023 20:32

Where I live the owners normally leave the house while it's being viewed (the real estate agent shows them through), so this would be a non-issue. I've never understood the UK way of showing them through the house yourself, seems weird to me.

Flamesbegin · 06/05/2023 20:44

Our estate agent for our last house timed viewings with about 20 minutes from the start of the last one?! How on earth have they got away with this more than once?

Choconut · 06/05/2023 20:45

How awful just totally wasting people's time like that! Hopefully they'll think twice before they do it again now!

Paul2023 · 06/05/2023 20:56

My parents were selling one of their houses in the 90s and got fed up with weekend viewers who had no intention of buying the house.
Time wasters posing as house buyers is
nothing new and most definitely is a past time for some people with nothing else to do.

Paul2023 · 06/05/2023 20:59

I now insist on the estate agent doing the viewings. Atleast their time is wasted too if the buyers are time wasters.
I just carry on my business and let them show people around if I’m at home. If I’m out, it doesn’t matter anyway, its not my time they’re wasting.

jazzybelle · 06/05/2023 21:03

As if.

weirdoboelady · 06/05/2023 21:05

Confession time.

My cough friend is a mystery shopper who quite enjoys doing properties. The object of the exercise is to do a report on how the EA behaves, obviously.

Friend went to see a letting, and on her way to the viewing the agent rang to say they would not be attending, and the owner of the property would show them around. Friend obviously rang the MS agency, and was told to proceed with the viewing even though the agent wasn't there.

The whole viewing was recorded on secret camera, and friend told me she felt VERY uncomfortable as agents are obviously warned that they might be filmed as part of their contract of employment, but sellers/renters of properties have no such warning! What made it even worse, apparently, was that the owner was really lovely - the sort of person who would be a good friend in other circs. The only useful thing the owner said was that she preferred that the agent wasn't there as she liked to meet prospective tenants personally.

Obviously my friend minimised the viewing as much as possible, and submitted the footage. My friend wouldn't have been paid at all and would have been out of pocket on the CONSIDERABLE mileage involved if they had refused to do the job. At least it was explained why the EA wasn't there, so was just another fuckup by the MS company..... It's a really nasty feeling, though, that you just might be filmed if you show prospective viewers round!

I had no idea it was a popular past time!

My SIL does it.

Personally I can think of better ways to spend my free time, but she could nose for England.

BobOfBonsall · 06/05/2023 21:21

Well said!

Different House!!

No, it wasn't.

Hmm1234 · 06/05/2023 21:28

Should of told them to come and clean up the garden since they’re looking for a new hobby

ConstanceReid · 06/05/2023 21:38

Did you really swear at them? How rude. You could have politely refused them entry without aggressive language.

Shhhquirrel · 06/05/2023 21:42

PsychoHotSauce · 05/05/2023 12:06

Did you really swear at them? Not telling you off for that but really?

I don’t blame the OP

Thundercats77 · 06/05/2023 21:53

I hope they don't remember you 😜. I've been looking for a house to buy and I'm in and out within 15 mins tops at viewings. To be spending 3 and 6 hours, maybe they're playing a game of how long they can stay at a viewing before being turfed out.

bunsen · 06/05/2023 22:00

Have you seen the animated film called The House? Its in three parts but if you watch the second part, you might find it relatable Grin

Sage71 · 06/05/2023 22:01

I am crying with laughter especially as we are trying to sell at the moment and I am doing all the viewings I have been warned 😂😂😂😂😂😂

ForTheSakeOfThePenguin · 06/05/2023 22:01

I know a couple from that does this, they have the money and interest to buy but they spend so much time checking every nook and cranny and complaining loudly about it on the interest of lowering the price, they end up offending the seller or the agent.

They have been trying to buy in a certain are but, not surprisingly, they are now always told by the estate agent the house has just got an offer even if it is still for sale.

What a sad little hobby!
