I would not let them in!

5 years ago we had viewers to our house which was for sale. A retired couple arrived with a clip board held out in front of the man. They came in and were a nightmare. Opening my windows, wardrobes, kitchen draws, running taps, jumping up and down on my floor, taking photos, flushing toilets, and much much more! After 3 hours I had had enough and said we were going out so they would have to leave.
We never heard from them again but the owner of the house we eventually bought said she had had them view hers and they had stayed 6 hours doing the same things.

I later found out they are serial house viewers and do it as a "nice day out".
Anyway we are now moving again and low and behold who turns up at the door, only Mr and Mrs pain in the arse. I did not remember their name or I would have refused a viewing. Same as last time clip board and pen ready.

The moment I opened the door I recognized them.

I was so angry with these time wasters I just said "YOU AGAIN! FUCK OFF! and closed the door.
I feel better now.

Yanbu! 😂Good for you.

MichelleScarn · 05/05/2023 12:04

Quite right! Although you'll probably get responses tell you how uninclusive and unkind you were and how this is their only pleasure! 😁

SpacePotato · 05/05/2023 12:06

Excellent response, but why the fuck did you allow them to view your last house for 3 hours!!!!

Or your seller letting them stay for 6?!

PsychoHotSauce · 05/05/2023 12:06

Did you really swear at them? Not telling you off for that but really?

skgnome · 05/05/2023 12:07

good on you!
although I really want to know how on earth can they stay for 3 hours “viewing” a house?

I know! They seemed so interested! The lady we bought from said she had to make herself some lunch while they were there as they stayed so long.

LakeTiticaca · 05/05/2023 12:08

There is a name for people who do this, carpet traders or something similar? Correct me if I'm wrong .
Although I would probably call them something far far worse 🤣

Well done for standing your ground! Not sure on swearing in their faces but well done anyway!

Yes I really did, then went inside and my husband and I were in hysterics.😂

Sometimes only Fuck Off will do!
Ds told dcat to Fuck Off last night as his meowing was very extreme.
I did tell ds not too sure dcat understood..

Jellycats4life · 05/05/2023 12:13

🤣 It does not surprise me one bit that people like this exist.

snowandshowers · 05/05/2023 12:14

I have let the Estate Agents know, however I did last time yet they are still doing it.

SeulementUneFois · 05/05/2023 12:17

Well done OP!
I'm sure they'll be outraged at you swearing, but maybe it'll put them off a tiny bit ...

DemonicCaveMaggot · 05/05/2023 12:19

They probably don't remember who you are. From their point of view some random house seller screamed at them and slammed the door in their faces.

Which makes it all the funnier to me.

I have an unfortunate sense of humour.

Mischance · 05/05/2023 12:21

I think you might have expressed it with slightly more delicacy! Smile - but I too would have sent them on their way.

I remember having a viewer who more or less gave herself away during her visit. I sped through the rest of the viewing and showed her the door.

I am surprised this can still happen as normally estate agents now have to establish and evidence that potential buyers have their home on the market or have the cash.

It is sickening as selling a home is so stressful and such a roller-coaster of emotions.

Apparently they tell the estate agent they do not have a property to sell.

Hooray! Well done, OP!

PauseTheRain · 05/05/2023 12:36

Good for you!! Some house viewers are pretty disrespectful, but these guys take the biscuit.

The longest I had was two hours. Bastards.

Dwightlovesmichael · 05/05/2023 12:40

This is why I always insisted the estate agent accompanied them.

I was always there too after seeing far too many houses myself where the owner wasn’t there and a lazy agent did fuck all to “sell” the house (one time I went to view a property and the agent plonked himself on the sofa and said, “you’ve got the brochure, look around” and apart from “bye” at the end, that’s all we got!), but I like the agent there so they can keep people moving.

We have to move in a couple of years and while we hate where we are now and can’t wait into get out, the thought of the actual moving process again is already making me feel sick.

snowandshowers · 05/05/2023 12:41

I keep remembering their faces and giggling. I did not think about them not remembering me and the seller just opens the door and shouts "YOU AGAIN, FUCK OFF!" I would love to have been a fly on the wall of their car when they left.
