5 years ago we had viewers to our house which was for sale. A retired couple arrived with a clip board held out in front of the man. They came in and were a nightmare. Opening my windows, wardrobes, kitchen draws, running taps, jumping up and down on my floor, taking photos, flushing toilets, and much much more! After 3 hours I had had enough and said we were going out so they would have to leave.
We never heard from them again but the owner of the house we eventually bought said she had had them view hers and they had stayed 6 hours doing the same things.

I later found out they are serial house viewers and do it as a "nice day out".
Anyway we are now moving again and low and behold who turns up at the door, only Mr and Mrs pain in the arse. I did not remember their name or I would have refused a viewing. Same as last time clip board and pen ready.

The moment I opened the door I recognized them.

I was so angry with these time wasters I just said "YOU AGAIN! FUCK OFF! and closed the door.
I feel better now.

🤣🤣 OP you’re my hero! I had a similar experience when I put my house up for sale.
Couple turn up, a million questions, tape measure in hand going through everything. Checking the water pressure, examining the paint work and found one brush stroke and tutted. The mindless drivel was just doing my head in, wanted to see the service history for the boiler (it was 18 months old) so wanted to see the invoice for it. Me being me said hold on I’ll just go and find it, they were heading for the kitchen, so luckily for me I actually found it so returned to the kitchen.

What were they doing? Looking in my bloody fridge! Who does that?!! That was it! Nearly an hour they had been there and now he’s got his head in my fridge!

I couldn’t help myself I just lost it, “GET YOUR MANKY BEARD OUT OF MY FRIDGE AND SLING YOUR HOOK”

They started trying to argue the point! the pompous outrage that I had actually said anything. All I kept saying was get out, get out GET OUTT!

They left, spluttering saying they would be speaking to the estate agent, like that’s going to scare me!

What is wrong with some people? They tramp in your home like they have a god given right and are just vile?

I believe lots of things but I don’t believe that anybody would tolerate a 3hr viewing - let alone a 6hr. If you really let viewers wander around for 3hrs then you are as odd as they are, unless you live in Hampton Court. 6hours? It’s just not true.

I like to think the clipboard holds homemade bingo sheets that they mark off as they're viewing the houses 😂 "silver sink" "brown sofa" "35 year old boiler" etc, while cheeky, seems like a hilarious way to spend a free afternoon 😂

if you bothered to read the post properly you would see that the lady I bought from said 6 hours, I can not account for how accurate this is but 3 hours for me is true.

Ok one of the reasons I love Mumsnet so much is the range of life experiences and differences if opinions it really has helped to educate me and broaden my knowledge..... but. Surely after an hour you would be saying " have you seen everything? , we have plans to go out". Or. Would you like to make another appointment? " I can't imagine two adults lacking in basic assertiveness

When we were selling our house we had two women come in look all over the house and garden and then they said as they were leaving , we’ve always wanted to know what these houses looked like inside so we came for a nose around, I was lost for words at their cheek, wish I’d told them to fuck off!

Our estate agent certainly didn’t want us in the house during viewings and we didn’t want to be there. We now have a buyer and we can hopefully relax.
I do find it odd when owners don’t let the estate agent do what they are being paid for.
We did have two different viewers remark that we don’t have a garage. All very clear in the comprehensive details and photographs. Weird.

Good for you! I don’t know if I would be brave enough to swear like that, although I’d want to. I would probably just say ‘wrong house’ and shut the door.
To be honest the agents must all know them too, so why do they allow them to abuse people’s home and time like that.

I am on the spectrum so I do tend to say what I think , I was being honest and disclosing I have not read the thread - what have I missed? Genuine question ? Why is everyone cheering and laughing something that does not make any sense ? Why would you let a viewing go in longer that say , 40 mins for a larger house maybe 1 hour or even 1.5 hours if it included garden office out building and extra land or other complications ?? I genuine cannot imagine any scenario where 3-6 hours is real , I was asking a genuine question

I have never , ever bitched at the school gates mainly because I work long hours and my kids are in club but also because I abhor nastiness and unkindness having been at the rough end if it lots of times due to folks not understanding me

I have now scanned the thread and still find no explanation for how the viewing lasted 3 hours ...

You are a legend OP. I laughed out loud at that one. I could imagine younger me having that written across my face and not being able to say it. Then being very British about the whole thing and letting them in while rambling on about my busy day ahead in the hope of kicking them out quickly. I have no idea how current me would react as I am a lot less patient now.
