Interested in the reality of winning a large sum.

I've had bonds for donkeys years but the most on a single bond is £500, last year

£1000 a couple of years ago on about £34k.

FrogFairy · 03/05/2023 19:31

@Okki I tried your suggestion but sadly still telling me to wait one day. I better have won something to make the wait worthwhile.

notgettinganyyounger · 03/05/2023 19:32

So reading through the thread it seems a few have won £1000 and a couple of larger ones 25k. Well done!! For the most of us who have had wins its generally 25 or £50.
And quite a lot have never win anything.
I won't hold out too much hope then 😄

£500. But we each win something most months - nine or ten months out of the 12. The amount obviously varies. I've been tempted to work out how much it totals over the year but haven't yet.

DS has far fewer than DH and I do and he only wins occasionally, but his winnings are reinvested as more bonds. His grandparents buy him some every birthday and Christmas.

dig135 · 03/05/2023 19:35

My son won £10k from £100 my parents bought him. I was a bit embarrassed as I'd lectured them on how the money would earn more in a savings account.

Undervaluedandsad · 03/05/2023 19:38

£75 over the past 6 months. Never won more than £50 on £4000 savings.

notgettinganyyounger · 03/05/2023 19:40

@dig135 🤣

I won £100 and DS won £25 in the same month

mrsbyers · 03/05/2023 20:15

Most in a single month was 1125 this month £200 on full investment which I’m happy with

Okki · 03/05/2023 20:15

@frogfairy have you looked on the blue app? I had a notification on there a couple of hours before the prize checker one.

@FrogFairy

FrogFairy · 03/05/2023 20:47

@Okki, thanks, I will give it a go.

FrogFairy · 04/05/2023 00:03

Yay, I won £75

Chattermax · 04/05/2023 00:07

I weirdly didn't get an email this month but just logged on and I won £450 (3 X £100 and 3 X £50) which is my biggest single monthly win by some way - this thread is obviously lucky!

CallieQ · 04/05/2023 01:18

£200... so far

Mogginsthemog · 04/05/2023 17:41

Weirdly didn't win anything for 50 years, then won twice in the last year.
Has encouraged me to invest more in them.

Chasingsquirrels · 04/05/2023 17:53

£5k this year, on full holding.
My dad won £10k this year on £27k holding.

Neither of us has won anything significant before.

VisionsOfSplendour · 03/05/2023 17:52

I don't know how the statistics compare but they are two very different things. There will always be winners in a raffle, no way to predict the lottery although theoreticak calculations with assumptions will be possible.

thanks. Tbh I hadn’t thought about it that way. Makes sense.

Happiestathome · 05/05/2023 00:07

My biggest win to date is £500. I won it on my second eligible draw with a holding at the time of £25k

user1471447863 · 07/05/2023 18:45

@Okki thanks, I wasn't aware of the blue app. Handy to have

I've made an account for my daughters based on this thread being lucky

I never did this because I worried about what you'd do if one child got a big win....

40thmonarch · 08/05/2023 10:28

Once a poster did have this very problem. One dc had wonderful big but nothing the other. The general consensus was to not tell either dc and share the winning between the two

Yes, that probably works when they get small, but they'll still have the bonds when they're older and technically it's their money not yours to divi up.
