I’m having a gathering tomorrow and having a slight panic about having enough food! (And about the weather which looks like it will be the worst of the weekend but that’s a separate complaint)

How many people do you think this spread would serve?

3 x quiche
2 x giant pork pie
1 x gammon joint
3 x large loaves crusty bread
2 x tubs falafel
2 x pots hummus
Potato salad
Cous cous salad
4 x blocks of cheese
“Other” salad (a guest is bringing it)
Sliced veggies
“Leaves” Salad

Coleslaw
2x chutneys
2 x sharing bags kettle chips
2 x tubes Pringles

Cake for afters

12?

CateringPanic · 30/04/2023 17:53

Eek not off to a good start!

I'd probably say 6-8 if they are hungry

I think around 20

Wtafis · 30/04/2023 17:54

I would have said 12-14 eitb leftovers of a lot,

Idgaff · 30/04/2023 17:55

8?

ArcticSkewer · 30/04/2023 17:55

10

WateryDoom · 30/04/2023 17:55

My gut feeling was 10 (and then when I read first post acknowledged that we are a bit greedy)...

Random102 · 30/04/2023 17:55

10-12

skippy67 · 30/04/2023 17:56

10? It's quite pork heavy...

CateringPanic · 30/04/2023 17:56

Okay I’ve had enough answers and I was right to be worried. It’s supposed to be for 20!

I have a terrible habit of over catering usually so I tried not to buy enough but looks like I have over corrected.

I’m off to the coop to see what I can find lest I become the subject of a “not enough food” MN thread!

I knew there would be an answer like this, 6 🤣

About 20 I'd say

writingworry · 30/04/2023 17:57

6

Thelastofbus · 30/04/2023 17:58

20? If you are worried o would have people come up and be ‘served’ rather than help themselves buffet style. Sometime people can be greedy and heap their plates up high. Really all anyone needs is 1/4 quiche with some ham and salads and other bits.

drpet49 · 30/04/2023 17:58

10

lunaloveroo · 30/04/2023 17:59

Maximum 10.

Fatandfunny · 30/04/2023 17:59

I’d do that for 8 - 10 max. You’ve defo under catered. Even in the crisps. Four large packs for 20 folks?

TidyDancer · 30/04/2023 18:00

I would definitely up the amount of crisps and maybe crackers or something like that. Do some fruit as well and maybe a pasta salad (some people don't like couscous). Maybe just larger quantities in general I guess.

Bimbom · 30/04/2023 18:00

The ones saying 6 are really making me laugh. Who goes to a gathering and eats half a quiche, half a large loaf of bread, 3/4 a block of cheese, 3/4 a tube of pringles, and a 6th of a gammon joint 🤣🤣🤣

Generally when hosting it’s not about what people “need”Confused to eat.

ArcticSkewer · 30/04/2023 18:00

Unless everyone loves pork based products I would buy more veggie/chicken/salmon stuff for the rest.

Toomanylatenightprogs · 30/04/2023 18:00

I thought 20 until I got to the end. Add more crisps/Pringles. Do you have grapes and other fruit you can put in? That’ll feed 20.

icelollycraving · 30/04/2023 18:01

8
The big question is have you enough wine?

WestOfWestminster · 30/04/2023 18:02

Yeah its the crisps that made me think 12.

I think if you up the crisps and do a couple of dips that would help.

Pasta salad would be an easy and cheap way to bulk it up too

Greenfree · 30/04/2023 18:03

Lol, I would have more than this for a party if 8 but my family/ friends love a good buffet 😅
