Other than the obvious of Amazon Prime and Netflix... what subscriptions do you have that you think are worth paying for?

I am usually fair tight when it comes to spending money on myself but I am starting a new job soon and will be able to justify a little treat. Currently, I'm thinking of something like Headspace, but curious to know if there's anything you're prepared to spend money on that actually feels worth it to you, given the cost of living crisis and all that!

Thanks so much for any ideas. :)

Spotify. I listen to music and podcasts all the time.
Cronometer. It's a food logging app and you can create and save recipes. I'm on a diet, and trying to ensure I eat healthily.
Amazon Prime.
I did a Perfume Society box once, they do one off ones, that was fun.

I get a monthly cake delivery from 'cat food cakes' really delicious mix of all sorts of cakes and brownies.
I also have a blue coffee box subscription and I just signed up for a bird and blend tea subscription.
Less exciting ones are naked sprout toilet rolls and wild deodorant

cromwell44 · 29/04/2023 22:32

Smol- dishwasher and laundry gel things
Pact coffee
Apple TV, Now TV and Amazon Prime
we recently cancelled Netflix and won’t be renewing Amazon Prime

What a great thread!

spotify, Disney plus and audible

shortanddumpy · 29/04/2023 22:58

Skin and Me - it's totally simplified my skincare and I feel like it's really helped improve my skin. Little something just for me :)
The only other subscriptions I have are the tv ones - Disney, Netflix, Amazon prime. Oh and Spotify.

familyissues12345 · 29/04/2023 23:04

I was doing Gousto, but having a break from it now.

Considering getting a razor subscription soon. Have had Birchbox before, which I enjoyed

Is Zoe very expensive? Do you consider it worth the cost? Thanks

The jury’s out at the moment- I’ve only been using it a few weeks & just got all my tests etc back. I start the next bit of the program tomorrow.

Oblomov23 · 30/04/2023 06:08

None.

Heatherbell1978 · 30/04/2023 06:19

We have Beer52, Wine52, cat food, SimplyCook and Grind coffee. Also use Beauty Pie. I did have Estrid (razors) and Wild (deodorant) for a while but not too happy with the products. That's on top of Netflix, Disney and Apple Music

illiterato · 30/04/2023 06:23

Spotify
BBC Good Food
NYT ( for the Spelling Bee mainly)
The Rest is Politics
Contact Lenses
Now TV sports package

stillherenow · 30/04/2023 07:01

I’ve just cancelled all my tv subs as we’re rewatching the West Wing on C4!

Gruum monthly for shampoo , soap etc
New Statesman weekly
The New European weekly
I never pay for Readly but get emailed a free offer regularly which I use
I used to get who gives a crap but it was too ££

tempted by earth and wheat but not sure I need more bread in my life !

Would love a house plant one - there’s a business for someone to set up!

stillherenow · 30/04/2023 07:02

Oh and Apple music family

YouJustDoYou · 30/04/2023 07:04

I was going to get Audible, but then found out the library has borrowbox for free so that saved me tons of money!

I really want to do the gin box, it looks so good, and maybe a yarn one :)

Cat food cakes?? In my head I'm picturing cakes made of cat food... 😅

Earth and Wheat. Absolutely fantastic "wonky" bread. We get a box every 2 weeks. We don't always use it all, but I make croutons or breadcrumbs or freeze any surplus. Highly recommended.

We get the same. Also every two weeks. Absolutely love it! Everything freezes so well and I can just pull out two pitas or whatever I need for lunches. It's brilliant

thesnailandthewhale · 30/04/2023 07:08

Pure Heavenly chocolate (vegan, low sugar, dairy free)
Spotify

CurlewKate · 30/04/2023 07:10

@JennyWren87 There was a thread recently about not liking crumpets. I almost said "try really well toasted Earth and Wheat crumpets-that'll change your mind!"

stillherenow · 30/04/2023 07:15

I’ve gone and subscribed to earth and wheat as a monthly treat! - bet they’re seeing a bump in sales !

CurlewKate · 30/04/2023 07:17

Also, for meal box people, can I suggest Sorted Food's App? It's kind of the same, except they give a shopping list and you buy the ingredients yourself for 3 meals and they give you really clear instructions with videos and built in timers, and if you make the three menus you're left with absolutely no food waste. It's excellent. Brilliant for nervous cooks too- you learn loads as you go along.

stillherenow · 30/04/2023 07:18

Oh my gosh there are lots of house plant subscriptions - anyone got one?

CurlewKate · 30/04/2023 07:22

@stillherenow "I’ve gone and subscribed to earth and wheat as a monthly treat! - bet they’re seeing a bump in sales"

I do hope so! I thought I was pretty switched on about food waste, but I had no idea about the appalling amount of bread that's thrown away. I know my box is only a drop in the ocean, but it's something. And delicious!

TravellingSpoon · 30/04/2023 07:22

Smol for dishwasher/wash/cleaning tablets.

Subscription to Yoga classes which make the classes cheaper. This is my one treat and I justify it because I work in quite a physical job ( carer) so it helps me stay well physically, and I like the social side of it.

Stripycatz · 30/04/2023 08:40

LeroyJenkinssss · 29/04/2023 21:58

@Stripycatz which plant and stationary ones do you have? I used to have them but the plant one we cancelled I can’t quite remember why and the stationary ones quality dropped massively and she’s now stopped doing them.

I'm a huge fan of monthly boxes - love the surprise!

currently only have pact coffee, warhammer magazine, Phoenix magazine, lego magazine, as well as Amazon prime, music, Readly, audible, Netflix and that’s it I think. I was gifted a yarn subscription which was fab and a candle one which was also lovely.

@LeroyJenkinssss the plant club was a local one, but they've since stopped this service.
The stationery one was Papergang. I stopped it because I just had to much stuff. I've stayed on their mailing list to start up again at some point. Here's a code from them if you're tempted.

What services/apps/boxes do you subscribe to each month?
coffeecupsandwaxmelts · 30/04/2023 08:44

All our pet food is on a subscribe and save system, though we can cancel or delay them easily if we need to.

Also the medication/supplements for the cat - it's not prescription so we just get it off Amazon.

I also have tea lights for my wax burner on subscription - not really because it's cheaper but so I don't forget.

We also have Spotify, Netflix and Prime between us.

Wazzzzzuuuuuuup · 30/04/2023 08:55

I have Amazon Prime, Amazon Music family package, Netflix. Occasionally sign up to Now TV or Disney until we've watched all the new stuff.

I have a Zoe Nutrition membership which expires in the next month. I've covered all the content and made some decent changes.

I've cancelled my expensive gym as I just wasn't going. Dh uses his 5 x per week. I'm thinking about going back to Les Mills on Demand which I used a lot during covid when the gyms were shut.

I'm into habit tracking and personal productivity so thinking about subscribing to the Fabulous app to support me with some of the changes I want to make, but not sure what content I'll use.
